Hamsters do Fight

Please help us out by subscribing! :) What we can learn from this, is that even the sweetest pet can respond in an unexpected manner. Theodor, our darling, is a Tiger when with other hamsters. Whilst Simon, who always bites me, was actually friendly with Alex, they did not really fight. (of course we did not let it get that far). Still, this is a proof that Dzungar / or Russian white/ hamsters are solitary animals :) :) :)

    Hamsters are solitary animals, even though dwarfs may tolerate others they grow up with unlike syrians it’s still a bad idea to house dwarfs together , they simply do not benefit from having friends and would prefer not to, even dwarf hamsters that grew up together are prone to fighting to the death out of nowhere.

    I also had the same circumstance as you here, I had a hamster that was very lonely cuz her partner died from illness, and so I decided to buy her a new friend, but the problem was he was a different breed, and the first time they met they fought, so I placed an acrylic barrier between them, but my dad told me that there is a simple method to make them befriends with each other, he told me to put a little bit of vinegar on them, like carsing them while applying vinegar, and just when I placed them together in their cage, they were now chill with each other

    @james ivan marion rosete: wooow!! hold on! that sounds very unscientific... we would NOT advise to get your hamster in direct contact with ACID!!! Not even with the 50/50 water-apple sider vinegar solution, that is often used to sanitise their cages. Even after that one has to carefully rinse the cage off. According to the internet research we did, the smell of vinegar disturbs the hamster's sents and could cause some disorientation and exhaustion as it tries to re-place the sent with it's own marks. In some forums it was mentioned that acidic substances can burn the respiratory and digestive systems causing diarrhea for example. Please do not put vinegar on your hamsters! can you promise please! :)

We had hamsters, which turned into cuddling buddies after a couple of months. Some others however have a very wild temperament and will probably never get that tame. From what you say, you seem to have the one that will require persistent training and can make it there :). I have two russian dwarf hamsters. I separated them at first but my father put them together in one cage and says that they'll act friendly together with time. Anyway, the bigger one is friendly and curious about the little one and always trys to groom him, but the little one is kinda coward and screams the most time but isn't biting the other. Can they survive together? Since the bigger one isn't attacking too.

  • @babydor1

    @babydor1

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Shahd, to give you the most appropriate advice please refer to this website, and take a look at the picture on top. Let's use this as a metric. In case you have any of the hamsters other than the second on the rights, you should by default treat it as solitary, the one second from the right is sometimes called roborowsky, sometimes people mistakingly call it the russian, and sometimes the russian white also gets called the "Dzungar". So refer to the visual aid rather:) Ok, now, if you have anoy of the hamsters, other than the second on the right, then odds are, your hamster is not going to get along better with time, they will get more agressive and territorial with time. It is not worth waiting to see if you have the miracle hamster which will against all statistics and all odds learn to live with the older one. Why not? Because even if it does, the other might not. Chances of no agression are the lowest when you keep one hamster per enclosure. We would highly advice you to separate them, or if not able to due to room issues, then would advice you to gift one or the other to a friend. In case you however have the second hamster on the right, referring to below website and their hamster species picture again, then you can keep them in same cage, these hamsters are known to be very social. They are also the smallest, and tend to have the most erratic behaviour. they are also a bit harder to tame and make cuddly. This species is going to stay wilder in their interactions with humans, but is actually a very social species and can tolerate other specimens of its kind. So please be advised and have a nice weekend! www.quotev.com/story/11965634/Hamster-Care-Guide/8

    hi Elvira, this is the right place to discuss this, you found the right place already, now just read through some of the comments, they are sorted by engagement and reply count. you will certainly discover, that the prevailing opinion among the commenter is, that hamsters are solitary by nature. this almost always means they will start quarelling. and once they do it gets dangerous, they tend to extinguish each other's life. So the common advice is to separate them. Or, if you have a friend who would like a Hamster maybe you two reach a gifting agreement. My personal experience was, that I ended up owning 4 Hamsters and they were all in separate cages as once we saw some videos, also like this one, we started paying a lot more attention to their solitary requirements. as a rule of thumb, they will tolerate each other in the beginning, in the formative weeks, mostly up to 3-6 weeks. after that the probability of territorial disputes increases exponentially and coming with it the fighting. I hope this helps to sort your thoughts. Good luck!

    hi Elvira, the safest way is to keep them in separate cages. It is not worth risking their health. As you get them at a young age they tend to be compatible, but in a couple of days or weeks it is common to see them start fights. And it usually becomes more frequent and more severe. If not separated, they end up fighting till death. We certainly would not like you to have to experience that trauma. Please consider getting a second cage :) Cheers!

    Apples are not safe for hamsters

  • @babydor1

    @babydor1

    2 жыл бұрын

    That depends. Hamsters like fermented alcohol soaked old fruits. Apples are basically the same, just a stage earlier. What seems to be bad for hamsters, is the seeds and the skin. It is hard to say why, that we do not know, just listen to our Vet. For example, Theodore loves fruits including apples. Bambi, our Russian white, would not even touch fruits. So There is what we know, what the Vet says and what the Hamster wants are again different things, haha!

    "Political correctness (PC) commonly refers to a mutual respect for the views and beliefs of others, including enemies, and while differing in opinions, the willfulness to overcome the existing disagreements, and to prevent animosity. To date however, the term PC is sometimes used in a perverted sense aimed for disintegration of solidarity in a society, thus giving birth to a new powerful conceptual tool, the perverse political correctness (PPC). PPC ideology resides in people with certain psychological types. We assume that there are basic psychological variations of personality traits and the mechanisms of their formation that promote not only insertion, but rapid distribution of modern PPC ideology. Although the dimension of their behavior is very similar, the personality traits of these persons can be divided into three groups: The subjects from the first group are characterized by general traits of one's personality, such as kindness, empathy, and humanism. This is true PC--an expression of proper humanistic personality traits, which are developed in a specific kind of environment. The subjects from second group are usually artistic, theatrical, vain and narcissistic, poseurs who need attention at any cost. Their views on life in general, as well as on questions of PC are characterized by colorfulness, picturesqueness and emotional satiety. The subjects from the third group, conjoined with the previous variety of demonstrative-theatrical PC, use mystical and religious contents as part of their propaganda of PPC activity." pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22070886/

    :) hmm? should you have checked at least one other video on our channel you would have not made this comment. Which we forgive you for :) with all seriousness though, it is always better to see it, in a controlled environment, by people with many years of experience, then making a mistake due to ignorance. that happens more often than people care to admit. We advise to take the presented facts in this video as a knowledge broadening infomercial. By the way, this is the only edgy video on our channel, and guess what, that is the reason it gets recommended by the system. What a shame.
