Hammock Camping By A Lake
Ойын-сауық
In this video I go hammock camping by a lake. This was my first time hammock camping by a lake with the OneTigris Kompound hammock. I also went fishing and climbed Matterhorn Peak! I hiked over 22 miles (35.5 km) on this trip with over 5,000 ft (1,520 m) of elevation gain. I saw mountain goats and a bald eagle! This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever camped.

Fires are now banned in my area because of severe drought conditions. What is a good way to cook fish without a fire?

Actually, Mountain house has some instructions on how to prepare fish without a campfire. I'll attach the link. mountainhouse.com/blogs/hunting-angling/how-to-cook-fish-without-a-fire My buddy and I tried this in Wind River and it was alright. Boiled fish isn't my favorite however, we threw the fish meat in with a Knorr Cheddar Broccoli and it didn't taste half bad. Once you combined the two it was a good source of protein, carbs, and sodium.

Hello Nate, you've created the perfect video! Beautiful, scenic scenery and great, beautiful content. What an awe inspiring show. Thanks for taking us along. I'm 70 years old and can't walk very far at one time, so I appreciate getting to come along with you on your beautiful journey! Many videos I see are videos where the hiker/camper reaches a campsite, has a meal and then packs up and leaves the next morning. You did a lot of work hiking up to Matterhorn Peak the next day. I'm sure that was a lot of work filming that as well. Thanks again for taking us along. Quick question: Were those fish trout? We don't see many of those here in Texas.

Thanks Lew! I camped here with my dad and grandpa when I was 15. We were too tired to hike up Matterhorn Peak but we always wished we had. My grandpa is nearly 80 now and my dad is in his 60's so they cannot make it up there anymore. This trip was a tribute to them. I wanted them to see what the top looked like through my eyes to put some closure on our trip from 22 years ago. It was absolutely gorgeous up there! I hiked about 22 miles in two days. It was a lot of work but very worthwhile. Thank you for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed it! Yes, they were trout. The first two were eastern brook trout and the third one was a rainbow trout. We have tons of them over here!
Could not believe the goats! Man what a trip GORGEOUS!

I was surprised by the goats too! They were everywhere and didn’t seem afraid of humans. This was easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve camped.

So aptly named Matterhorn Peak with the sublime alpine forest and lakes as in Switzerland. I am from Kentucky and every part of this country has it's beautifully diverse National forests... Oregon is truly a gem in our National Park system.

That was an incredible spot, mountain goats right in camp, bald eagle and brown trout out of Ice lake. That brown trout would have been an incredible meal. Great hike after little nap. Very nice Nate, thanks for sharing.

Have you had any strange things happen on any of your Oregon /Washington hikes or anywhere ? Strange sounds ?
@HikeCampClimb
2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had anything strange happen for any of my KZread trips. However, in March of this year my son and I did a winter camping trip with 10 feet of snow. In the middle of the night I heard loud footsteps in the snow and big branches breaking close to our tent. I made a noise and it went completely silent. There wasn't even the sound of whatever it was walking away...just silence. The next morning I couldn't find any tracks at all. It was probably a bear or elk but who knows? It freaked me out a bit lol.

REAL QUESTION- are you worried about bears/mountain lions attacking you at any point, smelling your food? If so what do you bring for protection??? I’m in Colorado and that is a big worry of mine!
