Sir I've a query that in book I read that those codes having minimum distance 1 can't detect error and also can't correct errors bt at the same time there has been taken an example that 8421 code detects error and also correct the errors so how is it possible bcz 8421 having minimum distance of 1

i can't make sense of " P4P2P1 = 110 = 6th bit error" how u could find the error on 6th ??

The way the Hamming code is set up with the parity bits in the positions they are in at first looks like a weird arbitrary decision however it makes the final check value p4p2p1 correspond to the position of an error. p4p2p1 = 110 = 6 in binary. If the binary value is 000 then there is no error. Personally I think he should have used new values like s4 s2 s1 to represent the parity check condition instead of re-using p4 p2 and p1 -- That part was a little confusing

Sir i have doubt in last 6th bit error we kept 1 from left to right (0100000) but in linear block code 3bit error we kept 1 from right to left what is the reason sir

Great explaination but I have one dout. Among that 7 only 4 bits represent data bits which are already having even parity. Then why should I correct them?

It is not like that, we make parity bits to adjust it.
Sir here you have considered parity bit=3 for 7 bit hamming code. My question is why the minimum of parity bits taken, it can be greater than 3, is not it?

It increases redundancy, so consider minimum parity bits.

hi sir, thanks for your video. I have a question, you listed the hamming code symbol from right to left 'D7D6D5P4D3P2P1', but then you substitute the received hamming code from left to right '1110101' into each block. Does it matter if I label the blocks from left to right, such as 'P1P2D3P4D5D6D7' then use '1110101' to solve the parity bit?
