A river fishing adventure loaded with topwater smallie action! It's a perfect fall day for some kayak fishing so I head out to the river with ‪@coloradohrfishin1966‬ to catch a few smallmouth bass!

    Helps to be near rivers that hold great numbers of fine species of fish & he knows where they all are . Wish we had it this good in MD but we don't.

    @@paullevine1813Agree. Pretty much the same(as in not that great) here in Illinois. Matt is highly skilled for sure, but being able to have that kind of access to the fisheries he shares with us here is a huge plus.

    He's in a less populated area than most of us. There's at least two dudes on every decent spot in all my local waters. Not to say he's not skilled but pressure really matters

    I think ole Terry should have taken Matts cue & switched up the Whopper Plopper for a jig or one of Matts Spooks . Looked as if he caught very little while matt was tearing em up !!!

    He ended up catching a ton of fish too! It’s tough for me to add my friends catches to the video sometimes unless they’re right next to me. If I have to shout across the river at them my audio recordings aren’t useable.

    I have to say: "I totally understand why you need to have a Power Pole on that kayak!" The rivers you fish in MN/ND are nothing but current the entire time (at least on your footage) & I can see how catching a good one from a distance could take you for a ride! That looks like so much fun! Keep up the great videos as I truly enjoy watching them. So glad we're now in minnow fishing season for smallmouth here in VA!!!! Oh, and I'm super impressed how patient you are on a surface bite! It's so hard not to pull right away on a surface strike & you always have the patience to wait that brief moment before pulling.     i watched it all - I'm just going to say my favorite part is @17:03 to @17:04 - That Smallie knocked it out of the water on first try, sent it up a foot in the air and then hit it again when it hit back on the surface, Ha!!!!! That was cool.

    There’s two different redhead patterns. The normal redhead and the saltwater version I have here which has a more holographic pattern on it.

    I like the Plopper most of the summer when those fish are really aggressive. Mid September when the water starts to cool is when I’ll start throwing the spook more.
