There was a guy wielding a machete at mountain brow park who lives in the new encampment there. No arrests ! But if i carry a knife or mace to protect myself and my small children i get charged? That encampment has a couple dangerous individuals, we cant even use the path to bike or walk with out fear. All the people shoved in apartments by that park have no outdoor space now.

Carry it because you don't like using plastic utensils! DONT ever carry it or admit to a Police Officer you carry it for self defense! Carry dog/coyote repellent because -like your facebook status mentioned 3 months ago- some homeless individual's dog camped out in your local city park approached you very aggressively! Carry dog/coyote repellent because as many facebook posts have mentioned, there is a coyote roaming in your neighbourhood and you've had bad experiences with these animals in the past! NEVER carry it or admit to a Police Officer you are carrying it for self defense against anything other than a canine! Now should a day come that you are carrying such an item for legitimate purpose but are required to use it for self defense against a new Hamiltonian sucking smoke through a straw off a sheet of tinfoil in the open, in the afternoon, in Gore Park... or one of our new Hamiltonians so fond of daytime burglaries who made you feel physically threatened for your safety or the safety of someone in your care, such above mentioned tools used for the purpose of self defense against an attacker become 'Weapons Of Convenience"! "Back in da day", a good old-school Hamilton-Wentworth Police Officer would tell you to keep your mouth shut / don't make any statement without your lawyer present when the Detectives arrive.

good one...if you try to file a report they forge the foia to protect the guy who burned your house down...so were taught never to trust them...i was told by a woman who worked for the nrp "expect to get pulled over if you drive to durham"? really why??

Why was that young child walking alone in an ally downtown. That makes me very sad

@r.1599 I guess I'm just worried about teachers calling CAS. I'm a single mom and I'm waiting for my kid to turn 11 so he can watch his 7 year old sister so I can work FT instead of PT! I let my son walk home with friends but not with his sister yet.

For the longest time, the person with the most worry about becoming the victim of a violent crime in The Hammer was the person who would EVER put a child in harm's path! (And that doesn't mean the parent who lets their child walk home from school!) I'm GenX so not that old, and I used to walk the alleyway from Birge to Barton between Emerald and East at that age to go grab my grandfather a pack of Rothmans at the corner variety and the biggest threat to my safety was the odd broken bottle!

I see the suspects are using handguns. Just use the information from their ATT, and make sure to revoke their RPALs. Wait...

I'm staying out of the downtown core until they get this resolved. Its obviously not safe anymore. These gangs and punks have no regard for any innocent bystanders when there having gang fighs in broad daylight in the city. I feel sorry for the people that live down there. They killed that one guy right infront of government buildings around Jackson square at 1 pm in the afternoon when there's thousands of people walking. around going about there business. This is way out of control now.

My question is: How many of these shootings involved criminals that in your opinion will respect Justin Turdeau's handgun ban? Please don't beat around any answer.
