I used to think that traditions like this were ridiculous and borderline insane until my first mushroom experience. I'm on the complete other side of the spectrum now. Traditions like these should be respected to the utmost degree. What's terrifying to me is that no one could've changed my mind about my worldview, I had to go through the psychedelic experience to test my theories for myself.

I feel that I am open minded to peoples’ cultures as long as it is not bad or evil/trying to hurt others. I am honestly terrified of psychedelics for my own use. My grandmother is schizophrenic and my fear is that I may lose control over my mind.

In my experience: psychedelic drugs give you an opportunity for betterment but don't heal you just because you take them. It's an opportunity to exercise your mind and free will. Just like going to the gym doesn't make you strong its just an opportunity to exercise your body.

We’ve bought into the idea that education is about training and “success”, defined monetarily, rather than learning to think critically and to challenge. We should not forget that the true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers. A culture that does not grasp the vital interplay between morality and power, which mistakes management techniques for wisdom, which fails to understand that the measure of a civilization is its compassion, not its speed or ability to consume, condemns itself to death. ~ _Chris Hedges, Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle_

This can create a revolutionary renaissance, with the 'Powers that BE', which brings the ultimate FEAR of western social collapse!!! This occurred in the 60's with LSD, which gave a phenomenal insight into the 'Consciousness' of man. The governmental powers had to take charge to bring in new forms of legislation, to criminalize the 'Spiritual effects' of this phenomenal stuff!!!! 😞

He gave me a big metaphysical hiding and a brutal psychological beating coupled with complete destruction of my ego and the ability to see things as they are with zero bullsit filter . Stone cold harsh truth . No mercy brutal reality check that left me with no choice but to change . Also all cravings for any substance was gone. My third eye or where it supposedly is burnt like fire . And a buzzing sound pierced my ears for 3 days . At times I wanted to die then I accepted death . I could ask any question and it was answered I mean any question I saw my ancestors . Experience gave me a newfound perspective on life and that we just doing time here . My buddy was in Africa for a couple years and had done iboga and it totally changed him for the better. Not like a 100% different person, but like he had a realization that gave him a new perspective in life. He was still himself, all his great qualities stayed and were even more pronounced. But several of the things people disliked about him and that had a negative impact on his life they didn’t just vanish but he was more aware of them so in turn he was able to control them more. Idk if that was from living in Africa and experiencing a different way of life or if this was from the iboga. But I have heard nothing but great things.

A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. All the sudden you can feel the circuitry in the television as if it was an extension of your body. Every pixel becomes like a taste bud on your tongue. A 4K display has over 8 million pixels, each one now consciously accessible to your mind. Cranking the Truth knob even more you become so conscious you can start to predict which pixel will light up with which color value in the next frame.

How about we stop doing that? Every country has it’s own rituals, beliefs, cultures, values, languages. We don’t do this with Asia or other continents, so let’s afford Africa the same courtesy.
