    I used to have a much more basic version of the Stay or Go slow cooker: same size, same kind of lid, but manual controls and no temperature probe. Had to sell it on eBay when I was gifted an Instant Pot, because I didn't have room to store both (and as an "empty nester," I didn't often have a need to cook such large quantities). I still have a smallish (4-qt.) Crock-Pot, but it's very basic, and I wouldn't mind upgrading that eventually to a fancier model of about that same size.

    What I like the most about the Hamilton Beach slow cooker is it can also be used to make yogurt and fermented soybeans (Japanese natto) by selecting the keep warm option. It maintains the perfect fermentation temperature.

    can you tell me if the hole for the probe is closed somehow if you don't use the probe?

  • @bestkitchenreviews

    @bestkitchenreviews

    8 жыл бұрын

    Hi Phil, the hole for the probe should not be closed according to Hamilton Beach. Here is their explanation: If you are not inserting the probe for using probe mode, leave the hole open and do not plug it with paper towels or other objects. Vent holes allow steam to escape and the wattage of the unit has been adjusted to compensate for any heat loss.Hope that helps :)

    I am very big into meal preping. can I cook multiple chicken breast at the same time with this slow cooker?

    +Nicholas Anguiano Hi Nicholas, yes you can. The unit fits up to a 6 pound whole chicken so you should be able to make many breasts at the same time. Hope that helps :)

    I see this was posted 5 years ago. I like the handle design on this one, but, cannot find one identical to it. The other handles I see are on the newer models ... they stick out further ... are covered with rubber on the "ends" ... are made of stainless steel (probably) and are riveted in. Which of the two is the new model?

    Matt Day Lots of slow cookers have venting holes that side so I assume it's okay.

    You wouldn't want to plug that hole at any time it has to release pressure or else explode. That cooker is not a pressure cooker. Don't try it .

    I unplugged it while still on, and since then it does not work. Can it be fixed? Re=started? Re-programmed? Or did I kill the entire machine by simply unplugging it at the wrong time? Thanks for any suggestions.

    My guess is ... you have a defective unit... PERIOD. What if the power went out for a minute? It would be the same issue.

    +Kenny Nguyen mine too..not this one but diff brand...it's the plastic - kinda think eeek may not be good for us! but it went away. It should be safe plastic but it didn't say on my box....I'd call the company ask if safe plastic..most likely not as it's that hard kind of plastic.

    so do you lock it while cooking? the lid seems like it's not sitting well causing heat loss? I saw someone else cooking while they had it locked I'm confused now.

    NO.......... You are not to lock the lid down, that is for transport only. ( Search this on youtube: Woman Badly Burned by Exploding Slow Cooker . ) It happened because she locked the lid down as she was cooking.

    Purchased this product from a local store in May 2016. Within the first year the plastic front (on the digital display) which turns out is just a big sticker, started peeling away from the unit. Then soon after the one year warranty ended the lights on the digital display began blinking out. Now 2.5 years in, I can't see the lights at all - so the digital display is useless. I'm very disappointed in the quality of this crockpot.

    I like your channel im a subscriber but 1- Not every one has a dish washer or can aford to run one. 2- its heavy and bulky.3- to most a hassle to clean some people cant lift that heavy.-4 lid has vent hole. We need a solid lid to keep moister in for flavor and texture. Ok review don't like product👎👎just sayin. Thank you!

    You're right that it doesn't look like the standard fall apart meat and veggies recipe but it was not cooked for 4 - 8 hours like those recipes. After 1.5 hours, the pork was really juicy and had all the flavor of the spices. The veggies were tender but not mushy. Ofcourse you can cook it for many hours for the fall apart effect :-)
