As an amateur lighting designer setting this show this week i had never realised how much impact texture can have especially when expertly blended and moved as in this show.

So interesting to see this and just pay attention to the lighting. Really helpful for my lighting research

this is awesome. i cannot wait to try this kind of thing out for myself for my technical theatre gcse

i saw hamilton in philly and im really into lighting and just seeing it is SUPER cool! :)

How csn they manage to make that design like crossed shadows on the floor? How... with stencils that cover the reflectors or something? And if so, do they always leave those stencils on or what do they do when they don't want the lighting to have those shadows?

for sure! the designs on the ground are called gobos! gobos are circles which have cut outs of designs inside them. You put them in-front of the shutter to make the beam shape to this design! To take a gobo out , moving lights have a rotation wheel which is connected to a belt that moved it out of the way (:
