My Jewish grandmother put both butter and sour cream in her dough. They were the best. She made prune, and apricot. 😋

How much sour cream would you add to this recipe?

@@jensmail7 My grandmother died with her recipes in her head. She used a tea cup as a measuring tool. Never saw her use measuring spoons either. She could roll a strudel pastry dough so thin. It covered our rectangular glass table that sat 6 without a tear in it. Then she would add the filling and fold it over until it was about a foot long and 4 inches wide. She should have been in The Guinness Book of World Records. ☺️❤️

@@ziziroberts8041my grandpa told me stories about my great grandma stretching strudel dough around a floured table cloth on the dining room table and she knew it was ready when they could read the news paper through it. I wish I could go back in time to bake with her but sometimes I feel like she’s whispering while I bake 🥰

@@Jackofallzebras Yes. Watched my grandmother roll out her strudel dough on a glass tabletop that seated 6. Paper thin. Not a tear. Then the filling. Then the folding, until it was a strudel ready for the oven. Amazing 😍
I just made these, and even though mine fell apart in the oven, they are DELICIOUS. Thank you.

They look so good😋
This brings back memories. I used to get these at church meet and greet, when I was a kid. They had apricot or rasberry filling yummmm😊
Tried out the recipe. My grandson loves cooking when there is story, too. He knew the story of Esther's boldness and devotion to her people. He had forgotten about Haman....he will remember his demise !
Yum yum they are great
Amazing presentation 😋😋
Thanku so much
Looked so tasty, and shaped like fortune cookies. Will make some and share with my dear friends 💖
I can not wait for purim.(the17 of march).🙂

Good recipe, thank you. Filling needs to be more, too little will taste too bready. Please eliminate all music from cooking channels. It is obnoxious and very off putting. Silence is golden.
tf do you mean "cookies" ??? those are definitely not cookies. they're just an alternative version of a traditional Finnish christmas desert, Joulutorttu (Christmas tart)
@evolutionsoflearning5806
2 жыл бұрын
They are not joulutorttu. They are hametashen cookies. It dosen't matter if they came from something else. I'm not sure if you know what a cookie is but you clearly don't. A cookie can be any shape but it must be a breaded sweet pastry which it is. A tart is different

why are u so mad going around telling people they are not cookies. Joulutorttus is made from a dough that puffs a lot more and quite frankly do not look the same. They arent even filled with the same fillings as these?
These are ok, but not the kind of cookies that I'd die for. I guess that I'd rather have basic chocolate chip cookies any day of the week. The only Jewish dessert that's SLIGHTLY alright is halva. I don't like haroset at all, either!!
I saw this in my dream
I know what they look like but i should not say it.
