Great idea, practical, entertaining and fun. I'd love to get involved in something like this.
Thank you for coming out and putting together this video. I had a great time and we're already coming up with new ideas for next year. Until then, 73.

It was absolutely my pleasure. What a great time. Thanks for hosting and coming up with the idea.
Absolutely fantastic. This really shows the diversity of approaches to building go kits.
Wow, What Fun ! Technical and Red Neck engineering at it's best. Great group of guys and great video.

Great idea about the stakes for the Wolf River coil tripod.🙂
Love these builds and the unique hand-made nature of this craft
My kits up and running now. Yesterday.😊
I love these kinds of builds and seeing what other operators are putting together. You really are limited by your own imagination when it comes to setups that work well for you
Best video yet....wish I'd known about it hear nextdoor in Arlington. You're a natural host, Mike.
Nice show, thanks for showing us the event!
Tank at 1:00 killed me. ROFLMAO.
This was a great video! Thanks for sharing!
Like seeing the different setups. Cool video
I love this So many ideas to be had!
Great video, thx for the shoutout, this was the best challenge so far, I think Jared is gonna bring it next year with his overland rig! I can't compete with 200 amp hours! lol Hoping for an even bigger event next year!! Bring your kits and mobiles!!!
That looked like a fantastic event. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Mike. Cool! I gotta do a mobile setup soon! It is Spring now and its a perfect time to design a Ham Radio convention mobile!

Wow, really a great event. It's so nice to see such happy people. We are coming to the US for vacation in June and hope to meet some Ham Operators. First destination Dallas Texas. Greetings from Switzerland, HB9FEV.
I'd love to see more info on that 706mkiig radio box setup. That's really neat!
Great stuff! Thanks for a very, very good idea!
i wish they had an event like this in California. Even as an ex-ham ( My Novice license expired in the 80's) I would make a special effort to attend.

I did the same, but got interested again. Got Tech, which is great compared to Novice. Later got General, which is fantastic. Please study up and get licensed again! It's still a fun hobby!

Try to start a club for newcomers to get together and go along with each other through the adventure of getting into ham radio. There’s no limit to what can theoretically be done with a few willing bodies.

What I mean is a "Go Kit " event. I got interested in Ham radio in the 70's when I was about 10 years old. I saw some TV show where the ham operator was helping two lovers om different continents communicate and I thought is was so cool. I eventually got my Novice License when I was in college thru the college ham radio club. Back then you had to pass a scantron test and a 5 WPM code test. I operated using the college's station for about six month but then academics got tough so I let things go. Then went in the military and got stationed overseas and renewed my license from Japan. But totally forgot that I had and let it expire. The portable operation aspect is something that really interest me. I am studying to get my tech license and am debating weather I want to try to get tech and general in one sitting or give it six months in between.
Awesome, fun event and a lot of cool go boxes! Cheers and 73! de W3LAM
Very cool event.
Great video, It was neat to get any idea of what people are doing. Thanks !
This sounds like a fun, branch of Ham Radio, creativity! The essence of Ham Radio, and American ingenuity! 📐🛠🪛🔩⚙️📡
Very cool indeed I will be building mine for the IC706MK2G great stuff enjoyed the video :)
I would love to know when they are doing this again
Thats a very cool Challenge! 😎👍
I like the voting booth idea. I have thought of building a campaign field desk.
I've got a 2 meter go kit and an hf go kit, this looks like a lot of fun!
Very interesting!! Thank you!
Nice toys!
Was a blast! Always good to see you Mike! :)
Thank you for posting this and sharing what the other guys are using for a “GoBox”. I never knew what aluminum extrusion rails were and this is exactly what I’m looking for on my latest project! 73 Ken AA6KN
That looks like a great time! I don’t know of too many communities that will get together and be supportive of each other’s setups and just having fun at a competition than amateur radio. My wife and I really like to camp. Bringing my HF along interests me greatly. I have a green plastic shotgun shell case similar to that gentleman and set it up similarly with a 10w dual bander with both power and antenna connectors wired into the outside of the box. It’s not much but it tries. I believe I saw a station that used old Coleman camp stove cases during the award ceremony. That’s ingenious! There should be an award category for most ironic/unusual setups lol. Carl KB9HPM
congrats! Let us know if they will be using any mobile chargers for when and where there is no power recharging stations???
It looks like several Hams are using the little Evolve PC's! I am glad I grabbed one for my Ham radio use!

Brilliant, thanks for posting this, looking for ideas for my own manpack/go kit as I can’t have antennas up at my QTH.Would it be possible to see a deep dive in a couple of the kits to see different options on how to build one? 😊
Thanks that was fun.
Great idea 💡 keep this up
the kit by KI5PDC, did you find out the weight on it? It's a really nice looking kit.

“Everything” 😀 I’m kidding if course but there was SO much cool stuff and creativity there. I’m re-watching it and taking notes on things I might want to incorporate in a build if my own. I’d love to organize something like that here.
Nice! We need to get something like this started around here... Where are you guys finding the 12v laptops?

MicroCenter had these on sale a few months ago for $60. There was quite the commotion over it. The computer sucks but it's absolutely fantastic for portable ham radio. Great battery life too! amzn.to/3K46wDk They charge off of 12 volts. Just cut the power cord and put Anderson power poles on it and you're in business.

@K8MRD RADIO STUFF that's awesome! Rare to have a 12V laptop. I've been struggling trying to figure out digital POTA without breaking the bank buying a ton of stuff. I've got several older laptops, but they're bigger, bulky and need 19V to charge and won't last 5 minutes unplugged.

Its the Evolve iii Laptop PC. It runs off 110V AC, which drops down to 12 VDC. Runs Windows 10 (is basically a school use PC). It has limited memory, which is easily upgraded enough for Ham program needs. Its a bit slow, but still fast enough. Its light weight, supper small, and easily packable. Plus, when on sale it was $60.00! So. Its the almost perfect ham radio PC. 1 version is cellular ready, the other is Wi-Fi only.
