Halwa Sweet Recipe | How To Make Halwa | Halva Making In India | Indian Sweets Making Videos 2019
Halva also halvah, halwa, and other spellings is any of various dense, sweet confections made in the Middle East, Central and South Asia. It is also served in the Balkans, the Caucasus, Eastern Europe, Malta, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and in the Jewish diaspora. In some Indian cultures, the dish is known as a soup-based sweet. Identical sweets exist in other countries, such as China, though these are not generally referred to as "halva". The first known written halvah recipe appeared in the early 13th century Arabic Kitab al-Tabikh
It is speculated that Halva or Halwa is associated with Muslims in India, but written records of sweets from Mānasollāsa indicate that semolina halvas, the most popular form of halvas in India, were already known in India, for instance, it mentions a sweet called shali-anna which is semolina based sweet today known as kesari bat.
Various types of halva from India are distinguished by the region and the ingredients from which they are prepared. In northern India, the most famous include sooji or suji halva semolina aate ka halva wheat) moong dal ka halva mung bean halva gajar halva carrot which traditionally belongs to Punjab and is referred to as gajrela, dudhi halva, chana daal halwa chickpeas and Satyanarayan halwa variation of suji halwa, with the addition of detectable traces of banana and kaju halva cashew nut. Kashi halva, made from winter melon or ash gourd, is a famous and traditional sweet of Karnataka, and mainly makes a regular appearance in traditional Brahmin weddings. Sooji halwa is sold in many eateries in Karnataka as Kesari bhath, usually alongside pineapple.
Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu is known for its wheat halwa. Its preparation is a laborious process that is slowly seeing this sweet disappear Unlike other sweets, the extra ghee is not drained out but forms an outer layer. This increases the shelf life of the halwa. The unique taste of the halwa is attributed to the perennial Thamirabranai.

Anytime one of my students achieved some sort of accolade, they would always bring in Haluwa, and we would sit around and nibble on it. I really loved it. This was in Oman for those wondering.

@@jessielyn8944 I agree. I love all indian/Pakistani sweets.. and I'm looking forward to trying those I have not yet tried. One thing though, you must have a sweet tooth because the sweets are ultra sweet lol. I'm going back to India in November and im looking forward to sampling all the yummy foods. I've been to India 3 times now and NOT once have I became sick/ill due to the food. Common sense is the key.

maureen macha, actually most of our food has Arabic, Indian background especially Zanzibar, cause was one of Arabs colonies, and doing business with Indians. Thats why most of the Zanzibar food are like Indians and Arabs. I lived in Zanzibar for 14 years. Was looking for halua recepie since I couldnt get here in the States, and I missed it soo badly. I just ordered from Tanzania, within two days I ate it almost all of it.. Lol. Now I will make it myself.

Hello from Greece, we make this recipe too. but before we put anything else in the pot we put 1/5 of the sugar and heat it to become caramel, then we add the mixture of the water, corn flour and the rest of the sugar after it becomes jelly we add the fat. In our way you dont need food color and it takes a caramel flavour. You should give it a try.

Tbh. I wanna know what the texture of it is like. Is it like a soft gelatin based candy, like a gummy? Or is it a hard candy type of delicacy. I love indian food as their creative ways of vegan food is absolutely amazing. Im an aspiring chef and i approve this message. Also, i self teach my aelf all kinda if foods, japanese, koreanx irish, polish, russian, etc, and i would love to learn more from reputable, authentic chefs from each culture, to learn 3 things. 1. Their most ... idk.. like i guess iconic and authentic food nationally known? (That hasn't been americanized or ruined by the people who is just biased by stereotypes) 2. Their own house food that only those who live deep in that culture would instantly say "Im home" when eating it, 3. 3 of their most favored desserts. Like candied / sweetened soups (or for example pudding depending on where you go, idk, im trying 😖 so everyone knows what im talking about for that genre), hard candies,, gummies, extracted fruits, etc. That would be my culinary dream. And what i would love to have a chance to do. But anyways. Love seeing videos like this. Ignore the haters and enjoy your culinary lives everyone

I'm guessing this color of halwa originally came from adding saffron threads but was eventually replaced with food coloring because it is much cheaper. Either way, looks delicious! Individually wrapping each piece in plastic seems a little wasteful though. If they want to avoid sticking they could just roll the pieces in a little more corn flour or powdered sugar.
