Season 2 was a complete upgrade... being realistic about budgetary constraints it was light years beyond Season 1. Who tf does a series and openly admits to not once looking at the troves and troves of source material. Even if youre going todo something different you have to understand where the character come from so you know how they connect with their audience...

Same here. My son loved the game. I am just happy I can enjoy it fresh. I just started watching and binged S1 and S2. I thought it would all be animated a couple years ago and is why I did not watch it sooner. Did not enjoy parts of S2 that seemed to drag on and was confusing. This video helped me understand as it felt like S2 ended with a whimper and not a dramatic cliff hanger.

There are loose ends because it’s an unfinished TV show and they can’t have action all the time due to budget constraints. Also, that’s not how you do action on screen. It needs to serve a purpose. It’s not a video game.

I agree with you, we can`t have a lot of action with little story, you need a really good story to with it. Season 2 really brought the story and the action, can`t wait for Season 3.

The Halo TV series was my first intro to Halo and the show is amazing. I was captivated since episode 1. For people who never played the games and don’t know the canon stories, watching the show is a cinematic rollercoaster!

This video does not explain anything, it is merely a recap of the season itself. Came here for theories about season 2 ending and season 3, left disappointed when this topic is outsourced to the viewers.

THIS episode was freaking fantastic. 10/10. This is what they need to keep doing. Keep up the action and focus on Chief. If it is too expensive to produce that every episode.. well figure it tf out ! As a Halo fan since CE first dropped on xbox... man this episode gave me goosebumps. Very very well done.

@@user-zz7zb8uv1o that city is presumably a hidden city of the Forerunners. They were an ancient civilization that created everything essentially. Including the Halo rings. They made those rings as weapons to kill the flood. Thay being you saw in that lab Halsey and her daughter was in ..that is probably a Forerunner. Clutching flood spores sealed in a device.

They were the leading species pre halo activation. They fought with the human race, who were fighting the flood, and after they won they put the human race back in a primal state as punishment. When they wiped the universe of all life with the halo, they made sure the humans would eventually retake the mantle that the forerunners took, and as such they are the only ones capable of interacting with forerunner halo technology. In the TV series, this ability to interact with forerunner halo technology is cut down to only Makee and John, while in the games it was all humans.

You forgot to mention that Parangosky got absolutely swarmed by the flood, which has me thinking that she will be turned into a proto gravemind.

I'm so excited and so upset that I have to wait until the next season

Just a reminder that the arbiter is a position in the covenant and that this arbiter isn't the one people have in mind The arbiter that people know and love was in charge of the covenant forces in the first halo game and was blamed for the destruction of the halo ring. He was stripped of his rank and made the new arbiter.

Yeah they named him Var ‘Gatanai. That really tickles the lore geek inside of me because 1: they didn’t name him Thel ‘Vadamee (so our boy didn’t die) and B: they decided to give this arbiter the suffix -ai, which denotes swordsmanship and he is always seen with a sword, so that’s cool.

@@AliB333 The symbolism is pretty overt. I mean come on, the guy is named after a Bible verse. Hell, Halo's entire story is based on Exodus. Where the "Flood" destroys the galaxy sent by the Precursors but the "Ark" is used to repopulate the galaxy after everything is dead. Hell, he even says at the end of the show that his image and his armor is his. The Master Chief and John 117 aren't 2 different people. They're the same person, and Chief is the one who decides what his legacy will be.

We don’t even know if they’re doing a season 3. The season 2 plot twist should’ve only been done if you have multiple seasons coming down the road. If your not guaranteed to have them, then a season with fewer what’s next moments would have been better. Plus the 2 year long gap between seasons needs to be shorter like next year that’s just my thoughts

I've liked the show from the get go, but this season definitely picked up the pace and the story a lot!

Would have been so much better if guilty spark had the original voice.

Same here. I heard of the game but never played it and thought it was a starship troopers / mech warrior kinda thing but so far I'm loving both season 1&2. The fight scenes with the covenant are raw and visceral. This is a big budget show.

Not with plot armor. She's not "dead" dead. Just like kai crashing a whole ship head first and have her whole body perfectly intact rather than vapourize into dust. Its a fake death to add suspense. Like how cortana was "killed"

For those of us who have not played the game, it was unfair to change Cortana. Her entertaining personality kept things moving forward. I am now halfway through the second season and so far, her position in all of this has barely been missed, even when she shows up. I hope the game players continue to enjoy it.

i liked it, im not trying to compare to the games im seeing it as an interpretation or an adaption thats using the sandbox to tell the story its way.

The monitors were actually not AI as they could and would never be corrupted by the flood as they needed to do their task under any circumstance. All the monitors were former humans, 343 was specifically "Chakas".

Cortana is an AI based on a human, monitors can also fall victim to the logic plague, such was the case with Mendicant Bias. Even then its not a direct infection, its more so making the target question their judgement since they cannot directly interact with these AI constructs, unlike something lile the Infestation in Warframe.

@@yertnert2624 No, Ancillas are considered far better fitted to combat the flood and even the best of them, Mendicant Bias fell to it. As such things like the location of the Matrix of the Halo is suppressed on monitors, because its well known they can fall to it.

Season 2 was a MAJOR Improvement over Season 1! I hope that Season 3 is influenced from the games and books more than what season 1 did because after all everyone that is watching the show has either played the games and/or read the books. I do not mind a new view or somewhat of a storyline but bringing in a totally new things that were never talked about or discussed in the cannon is not a good thing specially when the writers are making it the Principal part of the story.

The halo ring can’t be “used as a weapon against your enemies” it literally annihilates every living matter within range. If you activate all 7 rings, you destroy all life in the galaxy

I've enjoyed it so far but I've never played a halo game. We had a playstation growing up. Only gripe I had is I preferred S1 cortana. My friend didn't even notice they'd recast her.

Great great great season finale, truly a good ending to the season and as a lifelong halo fan watching it with my son who is 8 and played the campaigns we were just geeking out the whole episode honestly. The ending 👏👏

Good season, definitely better that the 1st. I wouldvr liked to see the og version of Chief arriving on halo in the lifeboat with a bunch of marines, and than the pillar of Autumn driven by Captain Keys crashing down after. Also would've liked to see the flood introduced the og way too, with the covenant accidentally setting them loose on halo.

Havent't played the game since i was a teen but... Duel wield needlers? Hell yeah. Epic Chief badassery? Hell yeah. The flood? Hell yea. Guilty spark? Hell yeah, makes me want to go forge some mongoose race tracks

I thought season 2 was better than season 1. Let's hope they continue this trajectory for season 3!

That ability that Chief has is called "luck", I remember reading it somewhere on the Fall of Reach book when he was a child and why he was chosen. It probably might not be luck, maybe something else

It's a good show. I love the games and canon but ive already experienced those so it's wonderful to have a different experience with a story that I love so that I can love it again but for different reasons.

I agree, there was massive improvement in this show just from this episode alone. The flood was really well done, I think that they’re going to tease it a little more giving us that cliche World War Z vibe until Season 3 we get more of the traditional flood. Sorry traditional is not a construct that exists in this show, but a bit more familiar. I do think that Halsey getting infected was not the right thing, obviously her character in canon is vital to the halo story, so I was kind of surprised that she got infected. I think that Kwan escaping the flood was teasing the potential for a grave mind, that would be super cool to see. My least favorite part of the episode was the killing of the Arbiter. I loved the Master Chief vs Arbiter scene, that fight scene was epic, but I was really kind of surprised that Makee just stood there and watched. I thought she was going to tell Chief to stop and we would have had this Arbiter and Chief story arc. It’s still been a dream of mine post Halo 3 that the Master Chief and the Arbiter would reunite. Maybe in Season 3 there will be a story on the covenants end where there’s another shameful Elite and that one 🤞🏻 I hope is Thel Vadaam and then he teams up with Chief. The scenery of the Halo ring was beautiful. So far, it seems like there are steps being taken in the right direction. 👍🏻

I don't want the show to be a carbon copy of the game. It should have elements of the game, but be able to stand alone.

I’ve been a halo fanatic since I was about 8 or 9 when the first CE was released. I have met steve downes multiple times, read most of the books, have the games sealed us versions and Japanese. Clothes, standees etc. I don’t understand how you guys btch and moan about this series it’s a fcsknwg TV SHOW if you don’t like it just watch friends or go watch some game of thrones or some shit.

@gottatelemhowto I’ve been playing since the OG Xbox myself & completely agree. If you want the original story, you have the games. If you want a variant that is interesting & engaging (especially with S2), then you have the TV Show. For me? I am good with both. Good luck selling a 1:1 adaptation that lasts past 1 season when it’s meant for general audiences & fans BOTH.

i didn't hate season one, but season two was amazing. I hope there is a season 3 and that it can get a bigger budget, as it will probably need it for what could happen. Those effects aren't cheap.

I hate how no one knows that makee is the new arbiter.

I thought the second season was indeed a huge improvement over the first. Im not no super halo fan, i did play halo 3 but dont know much about the backstories regarding the game. So the introduction of the flood definitely added a sense of dread, and im curious to see where they will take this now that it is an existential threat.

Lookup the halo 4 Librarian cutscene. It basically gives you the whole franchise back story. Also there were pre-historic humans before us that were at war with the Forerunners and fleeing the flood at the same time. The forerunners then whipped out all living things with the halo (including themselves) and re-seeded humans to earth as primitive. Then fast forward past ancient Egyptians, medieval times, American revolution, WWI, WWII, Covid-19 +500 years up until the fall of reach and that’s where the franchise currently is in time.

Now we know what alien technology looks like...

I was very diappointed as I can't seem to follow where their trying to go with the story. It's nothing like the games or the books I've had a chance to read. As far as the cracked visor. That's all wrong. What could possible break it, he's fallen through space and landed on the ground and not broke anything.
