I do thinks it's the better campaign that 343 has made from the 2 games they created but bungie I think did it better with the whole atmosphere of the halo vibe and even change the vibe based on mission or game, like we see from games like halo CE, 2 and 3 where u feel like a badass to games like reach and odst where u feel alone and the world is falling apart around u. With new info on AI chip in the Halo Infinite trailer it may not have. It may have just been a lame duck more than just a shit story.

He attended a Military Academy on Mars, is what he's saying. What you see in Forward Unto Dawn isn't what he's referring to here. The Battle of Circinius IV didn't occur on Mars. Lasky asks Chief not to address him as "Sir" since he saved him during that battle.

Lasky should’ve said “That’s what Chyler would have said”, or “Chyler/an old friend would agree with you”, when Chief says “Our duty as soldiers is to protect humanity. Whatever the cost”. That would have yeeted the hearts of more people. Hopefully Halo: Infinite will see more Chief - Lasky time. I like how they’ve actually built up another character. They tried doing that with Locke and Buck and the others in Halo 5 but it didn’t exactly mash well. Lasky and Chief do fit together nicely though.

It adds even more depth to Tom Lasky’s character when you realize Chief saved his life and is trying to return the favor. He may be a higher rank but Lasky has more respect for Chief then most, especially the captain during Halo 4! Also why Chief tells Lasky what to prepare for instead of the captain, cause Chief knows he’ll listen. And I can’t wait for any future ops with them working together!

Dead thread, but thought i would put my two points in. The ending of halo 4 was most likely already scripted and completed by the time Forward Unto Dawn came out, giving the first episdoe was october 2012 and the game was november 2012. While they clearly did plan to have Lasky and Chief know each other at some point, some basic information needed to be given for the sake of the player possible not knowing the relationship between the two. It is one of those cases like in a movie where seemingly unnecessary exposition is given to give the audience context if they have not read the book. Of course Chief knows about the academy, the player may not.

Tyler Hartwick halo 5's story was great! Only wished Chief made more of a scene when leaving and not just the :"nope, I'm leaving"

As much as I agree that Halo 5 was a shitshow and made this ending be meaningless, it does follow suite on one continuation: Master Chief realizes he isn't just an asset, but human. His whole quest in Halo 5 is to find Cortana, no matter the cost. This isn't a hardware or a machine at work here, but a very human emotion and action. Master Chief is ready to be branded a traitor to humanity to attempt a rescue on one of the only family he's ever known. On this note, again yeah Halo 5 was terrible, but the fact they started on Chief's story arc to understand what it is to be human is an idea I hope they don't scrap.

I would have been fine if they brought Cortana back, but the way it was done was absolutely terrible. She should have either A) not appeared in Halo 5 or B) Only appeared at the very end when you complete the campaign on Legendary. This would have built suspense and shocked everyone because this character you thought was dead was actually the mastermind behind everything and you don't know until either the next game or the very end of Halo 5. Halo 5 was a complete fuck up and IMO it should be retconned entirely and the original Hunt the Truth story should be rebuilt and give us that as canon, not what we got.

My favourite ending because it feels like master chief gets the respect he deserves

You can tell Master Chief was affected by Lasky’s words. “You say that, like soldiers and humanity are two different things. Soldiers aren’t machines. We’re just people.” Master Chief was touched by these words, which was obvious by how he looked at Lasky. Chief never felt like how he felt when he lost Cortana, he felt sad, something he hasn’t felt before. It made him remember that he isn’t just a killing machine, but just a human.

I love the story of Halo 4. The game had such good music and good characters. It explores masterchief in an amazing way, and it gives us some of the best quotes. I hate that Halo 5 kind of destroyed this good ending. I would have said if Halo ended here at the same time, this is an amazing ending.

This is the only time you hear a sense of panic in johns voce when he realizes he can’t save Cortana, such a great subtle moment showing the gravity of what he’s feeling

this music is amazing, they didnt want to take that theme, becuase that was for the first halo trilogy, this is a new trilogy, thus new theme

i have beat the game 10 times that's how much I loved it

I do it 50 times with Halo 3 and 100 times with Halo Reach, 10 times is few.
