Hppd is a not a curse. Your just seeing the world the way it really is, instead of the socially induced original version. Everything breaths because its made up of moving atoms. "Solid and stationary" do not exist in real life as the atoms that makeup everything are constantly spinning and moving. Anything warmer than absolute zero is moving even what we call solids...

It was all gas no brakes that brought this to my attention, thank you ginger suit guy. I've experienced what I suppose should be classified as visual phenomenon such as tracers, falling objects, stationary objects moving or " breathing " and various other things in my field of vision for as long as I can remember. I am almost 40. At first it was odd then it becomes life. It could be genetic or maybe I ate some datura as a kid? It seems unlikely that any change will happen but I would be glad to not have to look at the world this way. I wish you all the best.

There's a lot of likeness between HPPD and Visual Snow Syndrome. The palinopsia being one of the common things. I believe i have VSS since 10 months. Trails came up on month 4-5 with the after images. It's due to hyperexcitabillity in the visual cortex and the palinopsia i think is the right lingual gyrus that has hypermetabolism. I think a lot of people think they have HPPD but they could have VSS which in the future should be treatable. The thing is nobody can tell if they have one or the other cause there's no "test". I was doing weed last year, but yet again, symptoms such as the tinnitus, photophobia, floaters, bfep, snow, are hardly relatable to HPPD i think. So in my case, i think it's VSS.

I'm confused. Visual snow is visual snow but visual snow along with other visuals, would that not be HPPD? Visual snow does now mean you have HPPD but if you have visual snow and other visuals like seeing colours, tracers or after images, is that not HPPD? Visual snow alone, is not HPPD but HPPD can involve having visual snow and in the studies I read, a large percentage of people with visual snow also had symptoms that made them qualified for HPPD.

@@themorbidstoner1911 No. Currently there's a separation between HPPD and Visual Snow Syndrome. VSS is the static + at least two symptoms: photophobia, tinnitus, palinopsia, exacerbated entoptic phenoemena (such as BFEP or floaters) or Nyctalopia. Search "Visual Snow Syndrome" or check the visualsnow reddit. There's a lot of research going on for VSS and some discoveries have been made regarding what is going on in the brain, but not the cause. If you ask me, since we share a lot of symptoms with HPPD, i think they are similar, but people get VSS without ever thouching any drug. That's the only distinction if you ask me. I think we share the changes in the brain, drugs or not.

  • @bugotron

@@themorbidstoner1911 Yes, i think VSS (Visual Snow Syndrome) and HPPD share the issue in the brain. Probably hyperexcitabillity, hypermetabolism in the lingual gyrus, a possible thalamocortical dysrhythmia and hypometabolism in the inferior parietal lobe (associated with palinopsia). It seems to originate in once place, and there's a knock on effect affecting several areas of the brain, it's pretty messy.

I've had this my whole life, can anyone else relate? I'm only found out this year that visual snow and tinitus and all theses other things are not normal but I've had it my whole life. I especially had this before I did psychedelics and psychedelics have played no roll in the development or progression because I noticed this in early childhood way before I've consumed any sort of drug. Drugs have not made it worse and I feel like I was born with it because I thought it was normal until I became more curious about it and looked into it. I have no idea what it's like to never see snow or visuals hppd is not caused by drugs. And it's so stupid that idea is pushed because research is showing that there many people like myself who were born with this and did not develop it from consuming psychedelics. I haven't even done high doses of psychedelics and even if I did it still wouldn't expain why I've been experiencing these things for as long as I can remember

I didn't take any drugs, though this happened when I was 12.... I have been looking into this for the last few years now, though I don't find anything that explains it. I figured it might of been schizophrenia, though that keeps coming back 1 or 2 times a year for those who have it? The first time it happened I had something like a seizure, then a explosion where I was out of my body and time stopped, I was conscious and aware, though the world stopped... One could say that is a illusion... but how I experienced it, I don't see how it could be. I was fully conscious and felt feelings, though not body feelings it was like I felt that I had no body, no lungs, I couldn't blink cause I didn't have eyes, I couldn't sleep during this long experience. I seen the world frozen, and I watched it crank up at the end where I came back into my body, though not exactly in, I had control of the body though I was in pure shock and was behind and above my body running after it in panic. I am sure no time in the real world passed between the seizure up until I was back in my body. The place I went to after the explosion was very very terrifying, I thought I was dead, I went through the wall in my home in what I would consider to be my spirit, floating through the wall, outside there was a blur of everything in a 50 meter radius of my physical body which was still inside. This is much how computer graphics/processing works in most games which is very odd. I then went up into the sky and was confused thinking to my self am I dead? I wont go into the rest of that experience though it lasted a very long time, maybe even days or weeks of being fully conscious and where I felt, though like I said I didn't feel how we feel in our body. I was checked out at the hospital later that night, then again the next day, both times they found nothing wrong with me. I was traumatized beyond belief, and terrified that it might happen again, even more scary that if it did happen no one would know, no one could help me. I don't understand how some one can be fully conscious while they experience the world being frozen. The start of it is confusing just as much, this all started from a loop of everything for about 5-6 seconds, not only was I looping back and forth though the people in the room was doing the same thing, physical, mental, audible, my thoughts and conscious was all looping over and over till I felt the pop. At first I wasn't aware of what was going on, it was like a nightmare, the pain of looping was unreal, even more when I become aware of what was happening, I attempted to stop it using my self conscious voice in my head, but even that was out of my control, the same thing it was saying in the start was the thing it was forced to repeat......... I was aware of this all, and even more aware that I couldn't stop it, I was in fear that I was just going to be stuck like that forever. I have not had any issues as of lately 20 years later, though I am terrified of this, and I would say this was more real than anything I have ever experienced. I have read through a lot of other peoples experiences, though none relate to what I went through, even if we are all different... How can one be conscious and out of their body while time is frozen? How does some one have a time loop like that, yet after he or she is out of that loop, they are are able to be back in sync with everyone else? For me there was no drugs involved, though I have a feeling it was triggered due to stress, I am not 100% sure though I have my reasons for thinking this.

That doesn't sound like schizophrenia. People with schizophrenia tend hear voices telling them they did bad things or think that people are plotting against them or that they have been poisoned or something like that. What you describe is similar to the experience that other people have had who nearly drowned or had a heart attack and then been revived or something like that . Parts of the brain control how we perceive time and space. Likely it was a seizure (or blood clot) that locked up parts of your brain and caused a distorted sense of reality. Part of you was aware of what was going on but could not control the part that was not.

  • @DJxSGGxNeo

@@colorado841 Hmm I think the same as you, it was what I figured a seizure would be, and not sure about the part after that, but least for the crazy time loop it could be made sense of a seizure, though that makes me wonder what the hell it really could be even in that case haha, like you said maybe it was like a blood clot or something, I figured my brain broke, it sure as hell felt like it was broken haha... I really wish it never happens again to me or anyone. Hmm So recently my brother stopped by and he has legit schizophrenia sadly he hasn't gotten checked out so he can make progress on handling it or get a medication that could help him, but he has voices in his head, not just one but many and I tried to see if he really thought they were there or not, but I found that he tried to play it off like he knew it wasn't real but really in his expression and among other things he showed that he really does believe them to be real, hmm sad too cause it's causing him a lot of problems, he thinks his phone is getting hacked by people and he wont come out and tell me who he really thinks it is... he has been through 3 phones for the last few months. Ok so his was triggered by drugs, he is a huge drug user over the years and between this and stress of divorces and child custody it must have triggered it. I do see there is a spectrum of schizophrenia, and sure I do fit a lot of those symptoms for some of those, the thing is I don't have strong enough symptoms to make it that, instead I found it's DP depersonalization over that traumatic event from above which I shared. This along with Asperger, the interesting thing is that a female friend got checked out recently too, she and I have identical symptoms but different causes, we worried that she had Schizophrenia but the results came back for DP and serious clinical depression. This is exactly what I told her days before she got the results, also just like me even though I am not fully diagnosed but I can assure you I have Asperger, I told her symptoms are different for girls but I am pretty sure she has it too, she was kind of disappointed that the doctors results didn't come back with this. So she is going to get tested again. Hmm luckily though they got her on a medicine to help her cope with life, I have been monitoring her daily to make sure it's not causing her problems. Hmm interesting enough she is very much in love with me now too haha, Hmm She sat in a conversation for 12 hours or so with me, well more like a lecture of the things I know and shared with her haha.... She isn't the only one, a lot of the females I know love it when I do this.... Like this extremely long reply to you... please forgive me, when I get going I don't want to stop haha.... I need to write books haha... Thanks for your informative reply though!

Generally happens to people after a challenging trip. Some say there the best ones to have for that very reason. Also when you use hallucinogens they block the normal routes your brain singles travel making new ones, sometimes better ones. This is why some people report changes in there mental well being long after the effects have wore off. Things like depression or anxiety don't seem as big as a issue as to what it was prior. Also hallucinogens break down emotional walls and release years of built up remorse, fears, anger, sadness ect in a short amount of time. Although overwhelming it dose give a form of beneficial release.

LSD and other drugs effect the receptors on cells. However there is a lot that is not known about drugs. Some people think they may quickly rewire the brain and the brain makes new connections which are then destroyed. It is not really known why people get flashbacks. Flashbacks seem to contradict (or at least can't be explained at all) by the standard model of how drugs work in the brain.

@Tom Walsh there hasn't been much research on the pharmacokinetics of HPPD but it's theorized to be because of 5-ht2a receptors

Seeing things slightly breath actually means you are seeing actual reality. Everything above absolute zero (which is well below 0 c) is made of particles that move, spin etc. Everything is always in motion if it has a temperature above absolute zero....
