Halloween Tombstone

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video I will show you how I made these awesome Halloween Tombstones out of Concrete! ...Of course I used Rapid Set Mortar Mix and Flow Control hahaha. I made a very simple straight forward one but did I stop there?..... OF COURSE NOT! I had to make a more complicated one using Melamine and PVC quarter round moulding. I also jazzed the Tombstones up a bit with some concrete skulls I made by pouring concrete into a halloween skull muffin pan.
I also decided that you all need a break from my obnoxious voice so this video is a silent video hahaha. I hope you enjoy this one and get plenty of inspiration!

Great project. I made some tombstones out of Styrofoam many years ago and painted them to look aged. I also just used a magic marker to write the names and epitaphs. The relieved look you achieved is a step up and, of course, being made out of mortar, they will last a long time. My son is an adult now so we don't really decorate for Halloween any longer. We would put them in the front yard 2-3 weeks before Halloween and let the grass grow up around them. We live in South Florida so in two or three weeks, the grass can grow several inches so it really covered the base by the time Halloween arrived. Between that and the aged paint job, they actually looked like they'd been there a long time. I was thinking, while watching the video that you could sprinkle in some colored grout like you used on the curved countertop video to give the surface a mottled look to add a bit of "age" to the tombstones.

Have you tried adding vermiculite to the mix to make the tombstone stones lighter. This is what I’v used in the past as not to get a hernia moving them around. I also added some rabbit wire for strength. But I was using the other brand. I’m going to try the rapid set next time. Although, I think it would be cool to sculpt each tombstone like you did in your demo brick/stucco video. That way there’s more variations if making more touchstone.

What is the wood looking stuff you are bending around the top of the first tombstone mould you made in the video? The stuff that broke and you said you were just going to go with it? It looks like wood, but I don't know of any wood that "bends". In a lot of tombstone tutorials the people use insulation foam board, which I am sure is great for easy projects, but where we live, the wind would have them taking off to oz in no time. Can I ask how much those tombstones weighed?

Michael, I've looked back on your old videos, to identify how you put designs and lettering on concrete surfaces. I found one video where you state that you're using "natural grout", but you don't list it in the description. I've googled "natural grout" only to get many ideas on grout cleaning. Would you please give me an example of a "natural grout"?

Love your stuff . You videos are really fun and informative. I'm not sure why this is a trend . So many yters are going this route . From what I understand YT adds pay pretty well .(i could be wrong here ) I get getting payed but I'm not a fan of the " patrion" thingy . If you take into account all the channels. Netflix. Apple TV. Cable . Disney Channel , etc . Then have to come on YT and pay for the many other channels on YT because Everyone's want money . Just doesn't make sence. It'll cost 300 to 500$ a month just on screen time . And that's in US fund for most all YT channel. Add 35% for a Canadian subscription. I get that 5$ a month isn't a big deal but it does add up . I am subbed to probably 100+ different channels including BBQing/smoking , cooking , car stuff and the stock market and many more . Everyone's wanting a piece of the pie . I will keep watching you cause I really enjoy your channel. All be it few and far in-between . You do go month between videos sometimes . I'll just be late to the party (lol) and have 0 capacity for fun input . Keep them coming for us none members please . Best of luck Mike. No disrespect but money is very tight and as a family man . Choices have to be made . Just being honest here.

KZread pays a small fraction of a penny per 1 video view. Ask any creator and they’ll tell you that their smallest influencer income comes from KZread Adsense. The rest of it comes from Collaborations, Amazon Associate links, product plugs, Sponsorships and what ever else we can do to supplement and diversify our income. Since KZread is my full time job now and my family is dependent on me keeping a roof over their heads and food on the table it is that much more important to pay myself for my hard work. Speaking of hard work… I design and build my own projects. I do my own filming. I do my own editing and I do my own promoting. I work 7 days a week / 12 hours a day making the best possible content that my uneducated self knows how so that my viewers can enjoy 100% free content. Thousands of people view my video every day WITH OUT having to pay a dime or even a small fraction of a penny for all my hard work which I am absolutely fine with. With all that being said, with all that hard work and hustle, we still sometimes struggle to get by. Since joining anyones Patreon (or any membership or streaming platform for that matter) is 100% choice, I don’t see the problem with giving others the OPTION to help a little if they so choose. No one is forced or obligated to join or give anything. I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to my Subscribers, my viewers, my Patrons and my Sponsors. Every single one of you show your support simply by clicking on my videos. And for that I do my very best to show my gratitude by putting my heart into every single one of my videos. As for the long gaps in between my videos once in a while… since I do everything myself from start to finish and I still have family obligations to tend to, it’s impossible to maintain a weekly video schedule and I’m so sorry about that. But I can’t afford to hire employees. When my channel gets bigger, these things will change but until then I will run my channel in this manner because it is best for me, my family and my subscribers. Please feel free to continue watching my content 100% free of charge or obligation and I will continue to work my butt off to make the best content that I know how. Have a great day

@@MichaelBuilds I completely understand and I seem to of struck a thorn. In the end I love your content but can't justify the cost . I appreciate and apologize if my frustrations of YT and YTers are going in general direction. I fully believe that YT should reward it's creator's way better then that since the number of adds had gotten out of control . Off that alone YT should pay it creator's alot more .
