DIY Halloween Pneumatic ZOMBIE Groundbreaker Animated Prop. This how to video will show you by the use of still pictures and video how to make an animated reliable Halloween Groundbreaker for your haunt. You must have woodworking skills, 120v electrical wiring, and some knowledge of pneumatics. This animated prop when connected to an air compressor and 120v home electric… works by itself with the use of a simple home lighting motion detector (this can be purchased at any Hardware Store). It uses a gear connected to a slow turning motor... this activates one pneumatic actuator and then the other. My design uses a rear spine support. This rear support carries the entire weight of the front arm and head. Connected by only springs, the pneumatic actuators are used to move the arms and shoulders. Now the pneumatic actuators can be reduced to an operating pressure of only 10-12 psi. If your prop is jumping off the ground… the pressure is too high. A lower operation pressure allows the compressor to run less often, and will stop the prop from tearing itself apart… if you use 40 psi it’s going to break. If your design does not work at a low pressure… then it’s too inefficient and or restrictive of a design. When the motion detector activates the first actuator… the whole prop comes to life. This makes the unsuspecting victim jump for their life. Remember it’s the movement that scares the victim… they didn’t expect what looks like a cool static display to suddenly come to life.
