Halligan tool holder for under $6 - Forcible entry firefighting

Спорт

I decided to make this because I feel every firefighter should have a tool when going inside a structure. The problem has been once entry is made, FFs either leave the tool at the door, carry it in one hand, or shove it in their waist strap. This tool holder allows for quick deployment/holstering, two free hands and keeps the tool from swinging around.
All you need is:
-Carabiner
-2' of paracord
-3' of webbing
Mount the carabiner to the halligan with opening away from halligan, on the opposite side of the Pike( keeps the pike end away from body). Tie a loop with the webbing to the side of your SCBA waist belt. Then slide halligan fork through loop and clip carabiner to pack.

Carried a halligan every day for 30 plus years on a rescue. Pretty slick tip, used the halligan as a swinging tool for overhaul etc, so not sure that carabiner wouldn’t have just created more issues for that, but worth a try if you’re the typical US firefighter I’m in a suburb department that leaves you understaffed so you have to do engine work and truck work.

Tried it but the carabiner was an issue when swinging. I guess it’s not much of an issue just a preference. I attached a ring instead of the carabiner and had that hanging onto a carabiner. More manageable.

@@Lobo59470 good info. I wore a truck belt and on the rare occasion I needed it out of the way I simply tucked it in at the buckle and slid it to my side. Mostly I kept it in my hand as I didn’t have to do much pulling of hose other than bring some extra slack up the stairs on my way up for the nozzle team.

@@Fitbitz if you don’t think halligan are for swinging, you don’t know much about halligans or the job. Halligans can be swung to spike the door and force the majority of inward swinging doors. Halligans can be swung to split the framing of a window casing or door frame during overhaul. Halligans can be swung to pop a purchase hole in plaster and lathe walls before dropping the forks down the hole and popping the rest open. A halligan at its core IS a swinging tool. Learn your craft my friend.

@@Rescue-mt7fl they are not where I work, or any department I’ve heard of. you can strike a halligan with a flathead to create a purchase point, but halligans are not meant to be swung.
