Glad you liked the performance. I switched to a Kawai "Anytime" piano (similar to Yamaha "Silent" piano) instead as it allows me to practice any time without disturbing anyone at home. These are regular pianos with hammers and strings, but with the option to switch to digital, so it's a convenient feature. I made one recording with the digital mode last year (kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKRtyJqClJjJiqg.html), but might have to re-record something in acoustic mode; piano touch and feel is the same in both modes, but acoustic mode sounds much better for sure.

Handel, undoubtedly composed this work on a Pipe Organ. I've watched many youtube videos and attended concerts where this composition is played on the piano. Sadly though, their playing is garbled, the performance is dull and expressionless. Some would even add too many extra notes, excessive pedalling, thus destroying the beauty of the whole composition. But Ebenezer, your playing is stunningly wonderful. You did not destroy the character of the composition. You maintained the tone, colour, character, spirituality, emotion of the piece. I would love to see you perform this piece on a Concert Grand. I am yet to encounter any youtube video on this work, that will match your finesse. Wishing you the best!!......

Yes, I have played the bass and melody in octaves even though it was supposed to be played as single notes in certain places. For example, at 2:00, the melody descends in single notes for right hand and left hand as per the sheet music. However, I played it with octaves for right hand and left hand; there are a lot of other places where I did this as well. Also added a small arpeggio at 1:17, and at the ending from 3:16.

Look out for patterns and pay attention to chord progression as you practice. It seemed overwhelming at first, but it gets easy once you go past the first half since you would be able to recognize certain patterns such as repeated chord inversions, rhythm, and so on. The chord progressions also became a lot more predictable for the second half. The majority of the left hand parts can be reduced to motifs, although they are often played in variations in different sections. For example, there is a motif at 0:23 to 0:29 which is repeated again and again until 1:05; this is obvious in places such as 0:51, but it is also present when it starts at 0:45 and so on. The second motif is at 1:27 to 1:32, and it repeats many times in the second half. It would also help to listen to the original orchestral /vocal composition and follow the different parts (SATB) one at a time while you are listening to the parts as a whole because the parts are arranged in a similar way for this piano arrangement as well.

Click "arrangements and transcriptions" under the sheet music section. Now use ctrl+f to find "for piano solo" and click on the last result on the page. Zongihangi11’s comment - “The guy plays well and is also very modest. With such knowledge, he is able to play this beautiful piece on such a junky honky tonk. Such a piano only sounds in the Wild West pub, for drunk cowboys. This is good for ragtime music at most.”
@ebenezerdaniel1844

Yes, as you mentioned, the sound is more suited for ragtime music. Check out my ragtime recording on this piano: kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5V6r6yym6aXY6g.html. In fact, it’s an antique instrument from around 1896, which is probably one of the reasons why it has a honkytonk sound that is more suited for music from that era.
@zongihangi11

@@ebenezerdaniel1844 I don’t think they ever made such a bad piano. Rather, I think some antitalent manufacturers have not performed properly. Perhaps this crappy genre was born for the purpose of not having to throw away faulty instruments. Their expertise in the profession cannot be deep enough. If Chopin, Liszt, Beethoven .... etc. They would have been given a Honkytonki piano, they would have been told to take it to the trash. The piano in the video may have been good at one time. But it may not. I once struggled with an old piano for days. I also changed the tuning screws to a thicker one so they wouldn’t be loose. The strings looked good, I think they had been replaced sometime before. Tehát nem cseréltem le a húrt. But I don't think it would have helped if I replaced it. The piano's voice didn't want to be clear at all. From this I conclude that the piano in its new state was crappy. Because an old piano also shows its original quality. A good piano can be repaired. By its very nature, a bad tool can be repaired, but it will never be good. The guy is playing very well, it would be a shame to waste his talent on such a piano. The guy is playing very well, it would be a shame to waste his talent on such a piano. Of course, it’s much better than that here in the video. What is most important: The guy is playing very well, it would be a shame to waste his talent on such a piano.

Thanks for the compliments. I got this arrangement from imslp(dot)org. Search up "HWV 56" on the imslp website and click on the first link ("Messiah, HWV 56..."). Click "arrangements and transcriptions" under the sheet music section. Now use ctrl+f to find "for piano solo" and click on the last result on the page. Unfortunately, youtube doesn't allow posting links in comments. If you are unable to get to the sheet music, send me your email address and I can email it you. Good luck with your practice.

I can see your comment in my Gmail inbox, but not sure why I can’t find it in my channel dashboard. I don’t see anything wrong with your comment, but I guess KZread flagged it for some reason. Anyway, let me try pasting your comment below from my Gmail inbox to see if it gets flagged.

Zongihangi11’s comment - “The guy plays well and is also very modest. With such knowledge, he is able to play this beautiful piece on such a junky honky tonk. Such a piano only sounds in the Wild West pub, for drunk cowboys. This is good for ragtime music at most.”
