I feel likeshe always been like this. If u listen to who she say her fav artists r u would see she's influence by the older generation. I think instead of putting so much weight on her being the mermaid is taking away from her work she did before that role

I love that her and Chloe separated as artists so we can truly enjoy them in their own styles. Halle is a unique gem. However when it comes to the mermaid comments, what is crazy is that before her playing the "Little Mermaid" was a thing I would always say she literally looks like a real life mermaid. She is so unique and that was my impression of her for some reason and then to hear later on that she is gonna play the Little Mermaid. So I hope that makes sense to u as to why I refer to her as a mermaid, the movie has nothing to do with it.
