I can’t lie my soul has been starving for some meaningful music from black women, with no bad language, no nudity in the videos, no twerking etc. Halle has delivered this and more, it’s so stripped back and doesn’t revolve around a man or her body parts. It’s stunning. It’s giving song of the year. And no shade at all to the bad b’s with the twerk anthems and heartbreak songs, but THIS is what I want more of. Halle is coming to feed us all with substance!! I’m so proud of her Halle gives me a similar feeling that Michael Jackson always gave me. Musical genius with a wide range of messages, not everyday love and lust.

💯 I really love to see more young black female artists produce great music that doesn't include being overly/hyper sexual, as it seems too many mainstream black female singers/rappers seem to default to that. It's great to see more r&b soul, blues, and jazzy music having a mainstream comeback with black artists. Hopefully, we get to see more black female singers making this type of music or even go explore different/alternative genres (ex. rock, country, indie, etc.) and the audience giving all the love and support needed to boost their careers!

I totally agree with you. They are already Grammy nominated so it is only a matter of time before they are getting what they truly and genuinely deserve.

This is how you write and deliver a song. My generation grew up on 4 minute songs or longer. You had to have all of the components: an intro, verses, a catchy hook/chorus (sung multiple times), a bridge, the chorus again, and an outro. Okay? This song is divine. Classy. Impactful....an ANTHEM. It's about time. ❤❤❤

Yes Halle! As soon as she dropped that teaser with the black girl hair line, I just felt it in my spirit that this was gonna be uplifting and reassuring for black girls. And I just KNEW it was because of the horrific discourse she got about her and her hair from POS that couldn’t handle her being The Little Mermaid. The memes about her locs, her eyes, calling her ugly, and everything but the child of god, it takes a toll. And she was only 18 when she was cast, that poor baby. So glad she turned all that negativity into a hit song. There’s no one like her in the industry right now. The overly sexual trope is tired. No shade to those girls but I’m seriously tired of it. Halle reminds me so much of Aaliyah and Brandy. I hope she keeps it beautiful and classy going forward. And keeps giving amazing ballads. Little girls need this kind of positivity in music to look to. Heard her album will be a mixture of jazz and grunge. When this song dropped I IMMEDIATELY put it into my morning playlist. Everything that Halle has been doing since TLM has been extremely healing for the little girl in me and this song is the icing on a very expensive, and intricate cake. I cry every time I play it, just like I cried every time I saw the first TLM trailer when it dropped. Halle has a healing energy to her and I can see that she’s taking that responsibility very seriously. Also WHO was the background vocals in the chorus because they AAAAATE I get chills from this song. I can feel myself heal a piece of the little black child in me each time I play it. All the questions of worthiness, letting go of the insecurities that were never yours but were projected onto you when you when you saw yourself through someone else’s eyes, whether those eyes be jealous or hateful. Taking a claim in who you are and being unabashedly ten toes with no apologies. She gave us a true masterpiece with this song.

Shoutout to Parkwood Entertainment for not sleeping on her success and releasing her music while the world is still on The Little Mermaid High. Some labels drop the ball and the artist miss out.

From the moment I fell in love (obssessed) with CXH, I knew Halle was that “quiet” beast. She’s strategic, she’s smart, she’s focused. I knew she was playing CHESS, not checkers, from the moment I laid eyes on her. Her and Chloe have their own amazing gifts together as well as individually. 👌👌👌

Emotional songs like these aren't usually my cup of tea but THIS...this will have to be the exception bc BABY...Miss Halle did what needed to be done!! Angel felt like a breath of fresh air from all of the microwave, Tiktok-friendly songs I've been hearing since 2020. I've been following the Bailey sisters since their locs were shoulder length. My 1st born, who's ten (11 in Oct.), the 1st song she sang in front of anyone who wasn't me, her dad, or my mom- was "Cool People". When they 1st signed with Beyonce, I was apprehensive, because we know what that industry does to people. Their parents kept them on track and raised them, along with their brother, so well. You can feel the environment of love, commitment, trust, and loyalty they grew up in, through them. They are magnificent. That you recognize them as great role models, I think that says you're on the right track. Of course, I'm biased. I try to teach my children not to be emotionally invested in people they don't know, however, if they are going to stan anyone- Halle and Chloe would be in my top 5 list.

I'm not a black girl. But I have beautiful black nieces. I've been a teacher 20+ years in the "bad" neighborhood I grew up in, and I've loved many children through the years. I've heard convos they didnt think i could hear. Sometimes kids are cruel and the insecurities can start SO young. The negativity some of our children wake and face everyday, that they're just not enough, it's crushing. I know half of that battle being a woman, and seeing the subliminal messaging EVERYWHERE in society, I can only empathize with my black sisters. This song was SO necessary. I am so impressed, the vocals, the substance, the visuals... yes zach, this feeds the soul ❤ I hope every soul that needs this song hears it. It is truly medicine ❤
