Hallasan in Autumn: Hiking the Gwaneumsa Course with Tayler

The KZread creator Tayler came down to Jeju Island for a weekend trip to hike Hallasan Mountain in the autumn.
Hallasan is South Korea’s tallest mountain at a height of 1,950m above sea level.
You can visit Hallasan all year round, but in the autumn the mountain is covered with bright fall foliage and is truly a sight to behold.
On this adventure, Tayler chose the Gwaneumsa trail. This route (one of five up Hallasan) takes you straight to the peak. The Gwaneumsa trail is 8.7 kilometers long and an experienced hiker needs about 5 hours to complete a round trip. Beginners should go more slowly, so the average is about 7 hours from start to finish.
Note: With COVID-19 prevention measures in place, hikers on the Seongpanak and Gwaneumsa trails need to make a reservation (visithalla.jeju.go.kr/).
We hope you enjoy this video documenting Tayler’s impressive experience!

Only seeing this now, a year later! Lol. But this is TOTALLY what I needed to see! I am NOT a hiker and sit ALL for work and needless to say I just turned 50 😮. Going to Korea for the first time and flying into JEJU from Seattle,WA with a couple lady friends end of Sept 2023. I needed to see how this mountain truly was for people that dont do this stuff on the daily. I really appreciate the footage you took from before you got there, when you got there (parking) and what you guys brought with you, and what you wore. Also the link and info for doing this hike. Didn’t know you had to reserve! this is awesome!! Glad you guys made it to the top 😊❤. Beautiful views!

Korea/Jeju truly is a hidden GEM... Once those borders open again and flights can start getting booked, soon come :-) I'm not a hiker but those views were beautiful and definitely worth such an arduous hike!

The trail Tayler climbed is the most difficult trail on the mountain. We are bringing videos to introduce other trails soon, so you can choose one from all 5 trails.

Hello. Did you find restrooms along the way? How long did it take you to go to 2nd or 3 rd stop? I know for sure I won't have time to go all the way to the top. Just trying to time myself for our plan there in Nov this year. Thanks.

Thank you for watching our channel. :) There are 4~5 spots you can take a rest and sit a while, of course have restrooms as well. It's about 9km to go up and takes around 5hours for one way. If you contact to the Jeju Tourism Information Center (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) through online chat or phone, we will provide you with the most accurate information at that time. Read more: bit.ly/jejutic

Great video! I have been trying to get into the reservation website for the past week but am unable to load the website at all. Is there something wrong with the web?

It can be different from how well you climb. Normally we say 9 hour based on beginner. 5 hours to climb, 4 hours to down.

Whenever you visit, you can experience the beautiful scenery of Hallasan Mountain. But I don't recommend summer season if you are beginner for hike. It can be extremely difficult
