Lol I made one of these in the 90's by lopping off the supports of a vintage Schwinn exercycle exercise bike and welding a plate on the back for the skateboard truck. It was almost unicycle difficulty to ride. I figured it out and rode it all around town, even in critical mass rides. You look like you worked out the geometry to make it way better.

I had something similar 25 years ago. But the skateboard wheels were in front and it had a seat instead of handlebars. It was called the skate bike.

Quod DIY yeah it was lots of fun. Until the left pedal broke off, locked up the coaster brake and threw me face first into the concrete, stripping the skin off the inside of my hands. Other than that, it was tons of fun.. lmao😂

Frank Otterpohl Yes I also had one in1987 with skateboard wheels in front. Had a hand break under the seat. Wow brought back good memories ! Ya we are getting old, shit ! I just turned 40, but still feel like Im 21. Not physically but mentally ha !

Hey, good progression, but I think that machine could be improved farther. It must be a bit uncomfortable to stand up like that for long periods of time. How about adding a saddle? It might also be a good idea to increase the wheelbase to avoid faceplants when braking, and if we increase the diameter or the rear wheel, the rolling resistance will decrease. Maybe we could add a gear system for the climbs as well... Oh, hang on...

What is your compelling reason for this design?

The first one is a reversed bike the newer version is a seatless tricycle. This idea is a brain fart after a bottle of tequila an 8th of weed, 10 xanax bars and a ass kicking.

Our latest model - the Halfbike 3 sports a drum brake that's integrated in the gear hub. Works very well and can stop in an instant :)

Is it better than a real bike? It appears its really only 1/2 as good as an actual bike.

I like this tricycle. Make it foldable with an optional seat, the rack in front and trailer attachment and market to sailor's and campers who travel and have limited space. Also, way back when I was young they had three speed hubs on bikes...no derailleurs. Very cool. Think I will try to build one

I think world of wonders made a sort of Unicycle skate bike similar to one of your stages!

The first prototype with a single caster wheel behind didn't work because the body weight should have been over the front axle; then with a twisting hip action you could change the direction of the front wheel and the the little caster at the back would have rotated folowing your action.....
