Hello, main account!

As of today, this series is now four years old. So let's talk about this. I think that Half Life VR but the AI is self aware is a genuine showcase of the power of improv. As stated by wayne, everything in this series was not planned. Every piece of dialogue was made on the spot. And for people who (at least to my knowing) have no experience with acting, this is impressive. The ongoing story is super funny and creative, without even needing a plan. Most players didn't even know what there characters name was gonna be until they had to. It's incredible. This series is machinima at it's best. HLVRAI, even for how stupid it is, is improve at it's finest.

Honestly discovering this, fits into the pleasing place that TF2 memes and videos fit. I love parody and nonsensical things based off games I know nothing about or have barely played. If I ever get into streaming, I aspire to create memes and jokes like this that'll please the masses.

As someone who has never watched *anything* half-life and kept seeing stuff about this on tumblr, I have no clue what's going on, who anyone is, what the game is normally like, or anything. What I *do* know is that I find this funny and possibly even funnier than if I understood what was happening/was supposed to happen.

My take on Benrey is that he's an anti-piracy measure and the whole passport thing is a prompt for someone to look at a monkey island code wheel type thing to verify their copy of the game. Because he's self aware and hard-coded to prevent pirates from progressing normally, he becomes the antagonist. Should've bought the game, Wayne.

He got to know Tommy and realized he's just a 30 year old baby boy that needs to be protected at all costs. Plus he's the only one who didn't EXPLICITLY betray Gordon and/or displays some sort of super science super powers.

The person who acts Dr Coomer is definitely the most convincing. He feels like he has a few bugs as he repeats sentences and sticks with a tone of voice which sounds consistent every time. Edit: The ‘he’ I’m referring to is Doctor Coomer. I’m aware that Holly is female.

Can we take a second to appreciate not only the great comedic timing of the cast but the editing too, like perfectly cut screaming and cutting off after a character says the darndest things? It’s almost professional editing you’d see in high-budget flicks. I love it. ❤

i love the fact that so many people are convinced this is real ai. honestly i’m impressed they managed to pull off looking like plausible advanced ai: able to have somewhat fluid conversations & solve problems but at the same time absolutely nonsensical & seemingly having a death wish with the amount of times they are killed in absurd ways

I actually thought it would be AI until I watched the 'behind the scene' videos. It's amazing how perfect this AI is played. Some parts looks scripted like for AI but some parts are just madness. There smart and stupid the same time, like AI would be. Such a great series.

​@@nostalgicfeeIs I mean, we've already met G-man in the first episode, where he phased through the wall and into the stairwell, only to transform into a low-poly version of himself behind a locked door before transforming back into his HL2 model in the hallway.

A lady at a CEX store saw my half life tattoo and spoke to me about the franchise and then asked if I've seen the half life 1 AI videos. I have not seen these before. Looks very similar to the synergy mod but playing through half life 1 in VR with friends. I did the same with half life 2 about 10 years ago lol. Great laugh.

the funniest part about the passport gag is that a Half Life 1 mod called Induction from 2009 has a barney stationed at a security booth with a "Please Show Your Passport" sign above it.

It’s so crazy that I found this while hanging out with my friends in VR Chat in a movie world and it was in the random selection listings , and the title of this series caught my interest to throw on for like a 10 second joke to catch people off guard instead of a movie and we watched the whole thing. Props to you guys this is really entertaining !

Man back when this came out back in lockdown, id wait everyday for a new episode, these videos made my days, please continue to play with the cast and make great content

Back after 3 years and I just wanna say, this is an ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE!!! This series is honestly my ALL-TIME favorite on KZread and honestly when I get the time and feel like it, I’d probably rewatch the entire series. I remember watching this late at night and having to hold in my laughter so badly.

It’s a shame too. Bubby does technically have the most accurate scientist voice compared to the half life scientist NPCs which could lead to some good comedy if he chose himself a character that would fit with that, (one example: like only communicating in the pre recorded voice lines the original scientists used in his voice and the odd sentence). That would be unique and funny if done right. But as a character right now he never achieves his potential as he seems to his act like he wants to rush things along with no running gags or things that make him stand out.
