the TAU cannon is the most interesting here seeing those lights spin around, it's particularly impressive since goldsrc doesn't support per-pixel lighting to my knowledge

The Displacer Cannon is now basically HL1's BFG.

I was sure someone will do a weapons showcase on that, thanks for that

Welp, MMOD team left the SPAS-12 animations intact and that reload still looks wrong.

does anyone remember the brutal half life weapon anims? they were hella cool, should have used them for this

fun fact: in sven co-op, the shotgun's primary fire, like usual, is pump-action, but the alt-fire is semi-auto. wish I could name that in a way that google search wouldn't have a heart attack over lol

this was speculated before sven co-op, like gordon switching between modes, but the pumping still doesn't make sense since you can't pump in auto mode

Better than restored or that one unoptimized mod

I'l be honest, considering how much of an improvement the animations of MMOD HL2 were over the original, I'm kind of disappointed with theese ones they look nearly the same, but maybe gold source is a lot harder to work with. Thought I will say, explosions look 10 times better and the dynamic lighting on the gluon gun and the gaus cannon are really impressive

The HL1 animations were good as is. I like the fact that they don't stray too far away from the original.

People were making awesome reload animations for Counter Strike 20+ years ago so i don't think the engine is a limiting factor.

Man, I wish they’d added in some more OP4 weapons. Like, leave the sniper rifle next to a dead body right next to the area where you first encounter a helicopter, and have to dive down into the water to deal with the shark alien, and just have some ammo for it pop up occasionally. Because every once in a while, I saw ammo for the BIG gun from OP4, and wasn’t able to pick it up, it just made me so sad.

Hell they could even make it so you could reach the sniper spots to get em in the game. Or just make the snipers drop them, it would be better to find a sniper you can fight rather than the cutout we get in the normal game

The mod creator has answered in a Steam discussion for the mod. half life ray traced runs on Xash3D and mmod on goldsource, so no its not possible

i always thought that the revolver in hl1 was out of place looking

It always was. In the original Half Life glock was dealing 8 damage per bullet while MP5 did 5 damage per bullet

glock never fired as fast the full auto mode wasnt as accurate being able to rapid semi auto makes the mp5 pathetic in comparison

One thing I noticed is that Glock's rate of fire is not capped, meaning, if you have an autoclicker you can go absolutely nuts with it, mp5 not needed lol

Some animations are smooth and fluid, but some are vanilla! Maybe. Its a gold source limitation but it feels inconsistent

Perspective shenanigans for fov correction back in the day "Like the other models for the weapons, the Colt Python's barrel is widened in order to compensate for how the GoldSrc engine renders the player's perspective so that it doesn't look so thin and weird.
