Same, literally crazy to see the source 2 version of his player model after all this time. I haven’t even played the 1st game but I got chills seeing that

So, basically Alyx created a divergent timeline, splitting from the original timeline at the moment where Eli was killed. Instead of Eli being killed, the Advisor is killed and Alyx is abducted. But this still means that everything leading up to the finale of Episode Two still happened, as that all happened pre-divergence. Alyx and Gordon still met, Breen still got nuked by the Citadel, City 17 is gone, so on, so forth. Everything up to the finale is the same, it's in the finale where things are now changed.

Breen also knew about G-Man and his recruitment tactics, saying that Gordon's contract was open to the highest bidder, so he wanted to top off G-Man's offer. He also claimed in his final (or not?) moments "You need me!".

Its so refreshing to see just how confused alyx is talking with gman, i always think what will gordon actually reacts talking with this cryptic dude, i'm glad alyx wasnt mute just for the sake of "player immersion"

They still have all the sources for their assets from episode 2, it really isn't that noteworthy. They took existing models, and did a small art pass on them to bring them up to modern day standards.

I don't know how I managed not to get spoiled. Community is really respectful. I finished the game and literally had a breakdown... I have waited 15 year for this. Half of my life.

Damn, this prison is so elaborate. The combine know the vorts can stop him in his tracks. He must have been in a moment of great carelessness if they caught him manifested in real time. The segment before this room has the rest of the building "chomped", with all the locals' afterimages frozen in time.

CPs, citizens and higher ups (commanders and all of that) have free will, if they wanted to mentally enslave humanity, Nova Prospekt wouldn't be a prison, it would be a human drone factory, and Stalkers wouldn't even exist, as they are a disuassory measure. A message telling you "if you fight us, you'll end up like this", but else they let people keep their freedom

This is an insane detail I caught after replaying this. It's next to impossible to see on KZread but there's an extremely faint outline of glasses around your eyes, since Freeman has them. That's such a crazy detail they had no reason to put in but did so anyway

If Half Life was a TV show, this would be like if they had a major event happen at the season finale, and for the next season premiere it starts with a flashback episode, only for it to actually influence what happened after the season finale. Total mindfuck and a great way to represent the G-man's influence over reality.

Someone pointed it out to me recently, the Advisor looks directly at Alyx at the last second. I even checked the original EP2 ending, it was looking only at Eli.

I feel like this whole game was gmans “we’ll see about that” line and he let himself be “captured” by the combine so he could have the perfect moment to capture Alyx and use her against Gordan Freeman in whatever insane way he wants

100%. Rewatch the heart to heart scene where he talks about plucking alyx from black mesa and tells gordo to see her safely to white forest. If you read epistle 3 youll see that gman was always supposed to kidnap aka hire her

Advisors have powers too, not as great as gman or hes employees but still great enough, so the advisor during that moment felt that something happened with the timeline, something changed, by the time he noticed alyx the advisor got frozen in time by gman, and then we know what happened. Honestly if the advisors the low rank officers of earth managed to feel gman's actions i wonder what else the actual universal union have in stock, half life 3 will be amazing honestly.

Eli: Come on Gordon, we've got work to do Gordon, who went through the entirety of black mesa and blowing up the citadel in a matter of 5 days, barely has had any time to comprehend what the hell is happening and has been doped up on morphine for the entire time: 👍😎👍

5:30 I think it's incredible that a 13 year cliffhanger was resolved (and epistle 3 confirmed as an alternate timeline) with just one 45 second scene. Valve certainly gave us "something we didn't know we wanted" with bringing back Eli. It's such an amazing and revitalizing new direction that has only made me even more excited and hopeful about half life 3.

The mental feeling of holding that crowbar at the end was awesome.

Something I find interesting, is that in the beginning of their talk, another G-Man walks out of the original, then vanished in front of her. Could this be the G-Man waking up Gordon, or something different?

Wait so technically, when the G-Man hired Alyx by his side, she would now disappear just when Gordon did accept G-Man's offer from the original HL. Which indicates that in the next Half Life gameplay (if there'll be one) Gordon will be searching for Alyx just like when she did in HL2, am I right?

I think some Co-writer of the saga said that "If something of the Gearbox expansions enter in conflict with something that happens in the main series, they will be stated as non-canon" or something like that. but, with the existence of Barney Calhoun and his second name appearing on the credits of HL2, hmm. lets say that Gearbox expansions are like a scrapyard of ideas, so, occasionally, Valve grabs those ideas that they likes .

So alyx already met g man in the past she doesn't know what key word is WHAT he is cause g man is not human so after the advisor is killed alyx dissapears So half life 3 will be Gordon and the resistance fighting against g man.

I’ve gotta say, it’s incredible when you make something as basic as a crowbar so tied to an iconic character that it becomes iconic itself you did a great jon

I love the fact valve made this a vr experience but I hope the sequel is an old fashioned pc game because not a lot of people can play it.

Half Life 3 got delayed so long because they were trying to find a new voice actor for Gordon

Fun fact: Half-life 2: episode 1 was the *third* installment of the series. Half-life: Alyx was the *third* full installment of the series. *Let that sink in.*

Half-Life 3 confirmed finally after 14 years!!!!!

This was worth waiting for after over a decade where Eli is saved and Gordon goes up against the G Man who put Alyx into stasis just like he did after Half Life 1 and before it's sequel.

I love that they created a branching timeline, because that means that Epistle 3 is still cannon.

The Half Life series has my favorite universe of any game. Even if the story is really simple, the lore is second to none.

Alyx will wake up 20 years in the future when Gordon turns into a dictator

so excited to see what they have to offer next. this whole half life series has been a big part of my childhood and the nostalgia is hitting. so damn hyped for half life 3 and to see how gordon and everybody from half life 2 looks with these amazing graphics! i hope it isnt only in vr though. i would love to be able to play it all.
