This is how I feel after years of fighting depression. There are many wasted years, without enjoyment, without objectives, I have tried everything and I am still fighting. This melody makes me feel like time is passing and that I can't do anything to go back and recover all the time, the good times I would have had. I got to know Half Life on Xbox 360, when I came across an Orange Box. It was love at first sight, even without knowing the context of the game, which left me with a huge mystery, I loved everything in it. I didn't have the opportunity to play everything right away but after a while I bought a new pc, and finally played it completely. From then on it became my favorite entertainment media. Researching and talking to people about it, I met a girl on the internet who was also a fan, we became friends right away and got along really well. Once we knew we lived close to each other, we met several times and it was always fun to be around her. That is, not only did I have fun with the game, but it also became a key part of my life as it introduced me to my best friend, the sweetest, kindest, funniest and smartest person I've ever met in my life. We always had this "I'm only going to do this or that when HL3 comes out" joke playing with situations. We studied together, we played, we talked, we went out to different places, she introduced me to her friends and I introduced mine, and we always discussed the franchise, created theories (serious or not) and listened to the songs, and this one was her favorite. We were inseparable but, unfortunately, not for the universe. I won't go into detail as it's still painful, but I lost my best friend before HL Alyx was announced, and at the time, VR was a hot topic of conversation as she loved the technology and saw so much potential. "Imagine the world of HL in VR, with Headcrabs jumping in your face!" she said. And I said it was nonsense and that it was too far from that to happen. In the end she was right. She couldn't witness and play the glorious comeback of our favorite game, and when I beat HL Alyx I broke down in tears, and when another HL comes out it will happen again, but I'm playing for both of us. I'm using a translator to express myself in English, and I don't expect anyone to read it, just wanted to vent. Today I cherish this song and whenever I want to remember happy moments I come back here.

Likely never gonna happen in ours or Valve’s and Half Life’s timeline. Valve has a dumb obsession with always trying to evolve and be the next one to revolutionize technology in gaming, and they’ve been failing to do so in the last 3 years. I’m pretty sure Episode 3 was cancelled due to the devs thinking that there’s no big change, but me personally, I want to see the Half Life story conclude with a satisfying ending at least, instead of cancelling anticipated projects because “Oh, it’s not groundbreaking enough” smh.

Let's hope the legend of half life 2 will never be forgotten.

When you think about it, Half Life is probably the worst scenerio humans have been put through in any game. You are a slave to a empire that has ripped you of everything; your family, your home, your identity. You live every day knowing at any second civil protection can just barge into your home and kill you, that is if the immense hunger or pain you're always in doesn't get you first. Even if The Combine where to by some miracle somehow collapse, there is a very good chance you will never see your loved ones again, and the earth has already been damaged beyond repair. It is a miracle anyone before Gordan managed to escape the system, and the few that managed are at risk at being infected by head crabs and turned into zombies; a fate truly worse than death. This song just shows the misery and hopelessness the human species has faced since The Combine took over.

Faster and faster, but you do not care, you need to see these words before you die- you just have to. The door slams open, your screen surges out of power, you turn around in a furious rage, tears streaming down your face to see who has wasted your final moments as if they do not care for the fabled Half-Life 3. However, it is Gabe Newell, the god himself. "After 102 years in development, hopefully it will have been worth the wait." he sputters. The computer sparks into life. The words are on your screen. 'Half-Life 3 Released!' it beams. You begin crying, your face is purple. Gabe Newell, too, on his last breath sits by your side, arm around your shoulders. My brother passed away on September 8th this year, he loved the Half-Life series as early as I could remember. He showed me the games as a child, and I love them too. I'm so happy he showed me these, and I'm so happy this series brought him joy. Half-Life will always mean a lot to me, it's my brothers passion and my childhood. Rest easy bro, I'll never forget you.

Honestly even if its all we get im fine. IM just glad i lived through times when these games were coming out... it will never be the same and i pity new generations. I was born in that perfect time when 2d platformers on consoles were still hot and all the way into 3d age. Best time to be alive hands down.

Instead of being mad a new generation of people is learning of this classic and being weird gatekeepers how about you be happy this stuff is being exposed to more people? I thought it was touching he used the song at the end of an important arch in the series, nice call back to the game the assets are from. If you're here from skibidi toilet I strongly suggest checking out the Half Life game series for yourself, they're old but they are a part of gaming history! Even if 1 is too old for you I think you will find enjoyment in half life 2, which this song is from, even if you don't beat the whole thing or just watch a LP, it's worth checking out!

I’m not a half life fan (I did like HL: Alyx tho) but I can only imagine the heartbreak of a diehard Half life fan reading the newest comments right now. I've been listening to this on loop for over 2 hours now. I don't even understand how that much time time flew by so quickly. This song is simply amazing, it gave me so many memories about Half-life and other games, while at the same time making me sad. I could literally listen to Triage at Dawn forever.

I remember the first time i found this game, and this song. It was the same year my great grandfather passed away, 2017, before covid, before everything went bad. He was such an amazing man, fought in ww2, always offering things to me and my siblings when we'd visit him in the hospital. He always said i was his favorite great granddaughter, but i knew he loved us all equally. And then, one day, he passed. It broke my heart, and the worst part that hurts me... i couldnt even be at his funeral. It hurts me to this day. I only just found this song again a few days ago, and it brought back memories of when i used to play this, and when my great grandfather was still with me... miss you, grandpa jack... 🕊

This makes me think of a massive emotionless AI killing machine after a nuclear war going up on a hill to watch the sunrise. All the things it fought for are gone now, it was all pointless, as it realizes its the only moving thing left on earth, looks around to see all the destroyed machines and dead corpses, and it feels emotion for the first and last time before its engine runs out of fuel and goes cold forever.

When I listen to this it makes me think of how all of humanity was defeated in just 7 hours. Countries uniting for one last stand against a much greater enemy only to be stopped extremely easily and mostly enslaved. Now they only have one hope and it freeman

i was 4 when game came out, now im almost 22 so yeah valve time to wake up and make 3rd one already
