Half-Life 2 | Physics (20 years anniversary tribute to a game that changed everything)
Ойындар
A random bonus vid just for fun and a bonus track of course. Today's visuals are a bit special. I wanted to pay homage to this game that created everything we take for granted today in the gaming industry.
Half-Life 2 is a science fiction first-person shooter developed and published by Valve Corporation, and released in 2004. The game received critical acclaim, winning over 30 Game of the Year awards. It is the best-selling FPS game to date.
Half-Life 2's public reception was overwhelmingly positive in terms of reviews and sales. It was critically acclaimed for advances in computer narration, graphics, artificial intelligence and... physics!
The game has become and remains one of the most highly acclaimed video games in history. Most major game reviewers gave ratings within the 90-100% range. Maximum PC awarded Half-Life 2 an unprecedented 11 on their rating scale which normally peaks at 10, and named it the "best game ever made."
Original track is called "Sirius" and can be found on my Bandcamp.

Awesomeness my friend. HL2 had an incredible impact on me - heck , continues to have an incredible impact- on all aspects of my creative work. This is a very worthy tribute to Kelly Bailey’s work ❤❤❤❤

I always thought that there was a before and after HL2. As there was a before and after Space Invaders, Tetris, Dungeon Master, Shadow of the Beast, Populous, Wolfenstein, etc. All these games that changed the gaming horizon forever. But imo HL2 is one of those games which created the biggest gap between the « past and future ». Thanks for the nice comment, really appreciate it.

@@nolake totally agree! Even its closest contemporaries (Doom 3 and Halo 2) seem very much of 2004 in both gameplay and graphics. I was replaying HL2 the other week and I continue to be struck by how unaffected by the passing of time it is.
Surely was ahead of its time, especially when I waited 5 hours to download some e3 cam footage from a sketchy website just to see how realistic those physics were. Mind blowing that it's already 20 years now.

😁 Thanks for the memory sharing. I think that I had to play the game in 800x600 back then with barely 15fps. Same for Doom 3 which was released at the same period with even more impressive graphics but a less sophisticated physics. Cheers and thanks for stopping by.
An incredible musical tribute to one of the video games that made history. Excellent as always Fred!!!

Another awesome song as always. I remember there were tons of Half-Life 3 memes when I was around 30 (strange impossible event in the future = "Half-Life 3 confirmed").

Thanks man. Yeah they never really wanted to propose a third one (so far) as they know that people would be waiting for it and wouldn’t forgive an Half-Life 2.2 instead. But these guys are genius. Thanks for tuning in buddy. Btw, the rain is still here 😅
Awesome vibe! Fascinating info! I wanna read a book about the history of video games. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔥🔥🔥🔥

what the developers did with Half Life, and quite some time ago too, was amazing and ground breaking, for sure but I never played the game because, at the time, I found it too hard, so I missed out on all that wonderful physics engine excellent video showcasing that great music also... very tense!

The music really draws you into a different world. It works well with the changing scenes. I like that intense vibrato, too. Almost like some sort of mad gulls! Nice work on the music and putting it together with the game!

Mad Gulls, I like that, it could be a great album title. Thanks for the nice feedback Jeremy, really appreciate it buddy.
I don't know anything about this game, but I found your music exceptionally great, as usual! I also don't quite understand the concept of "bonus track" here, because I think it could be the main theme of any of your albums, since it has all the great quality and creative talent that characterizes you! Anyway, absolutely brilliant! 👍💥👍

Ah ah thanks for the cool feedback. By bonus I meant « one extra track for the week » as I use to upload once a week but I’m so glad you enjoyed it very much. It’s one of my « Sanctuary » tracks, a virtual album only available on Bandcamp. And indeed it’s not a secondary music at all and I appreciate that you underlined that 😊 Cheers man!

Great game. I played One and Two. I also remember when the 'rag doll' effect was created and it gave falling an entirely new sense of reality in a game. Great tune that is mysterious and dread-inducing. Perfect video game sound track!

If you weren’t a gamer back then, it’s totally normal but if you were, there’s something wrong 😁 Anyway, thank you so much for the compliment man!
Avec ta musique on est sans cesse sur le qui-vive, c'est angoissant et très sombre. Et celà va parfaitement bien avec ton jeu 😊❤

Ah ah oui moi aussi. C’était bien drôle. Merci pour la visite.
This sounds great Fred! A very haunting soundscape that matches the visuals perfectly. I have to admit I NEVER play video games, so this video makes zero sense to me. I have no idea why you would be lifting barrels and floating crates etc. Still I think it adds to the atmosphere me not understanding things.

Lol I can get that. I mostly played video games for their music, they are literally part of my roots. I’m a very bad player. Most of the time I booted the game to listen to the soundtrack and never played it lol. In this case, you just have to imagine a world where everything is stuck together. A chair is part of the decor. Same for the objects, cars, people. And then, overnight, you could interact with everything and a bottle will brake if it falls on the ground and it will roll if the ground isn’t flat. It must have been something to code back in the days. And 20 years later the games look of course better but it’s basically the same thing again and again. Thanks for tuning in though. Appreciate it.

@@nolake I think the last time I tried playing a video game was when Space Invaders came out. lol The graphics were a bit different back then. I think a lot of things have lost their wonder nowadays with things being so easy to fake there are no longer any surprises. Gone are the days when a dinosaur in a movie was a tortoise with spines stuck to its shell, or a lizard filmed up close to make it look huge. lol
@nolake

Indeed the magic has changed for sure. I’m also a big fan of the « good old stuff ». But without these new technologies, my quest for making electronic music for modern games wouldn’t have much sense 😁
