The opportunity to have a Hunter companion is a nice touch. It makes you feel more confident in case you're about to die, knowing that it will be right next to you to fight off your enemies. To be honest, it would be cool if we could see that more often, rather in just one single mod in particular.

The sad part about Hunters is that they're brainwashed, husks of their original species, like humans and Combine Overwatch. They're stripped of their memories, personalities, judgment of right and wrong, they're basically mindless robots serving the Combine. The odds of them, or any synth breaking free from Combine influence is pretty much nil. I love this idea as fan fic, but cannon Half-Life?

Antlion Farm actually has that - when Gordon shuts off the machine at an Antlion Grub Harvesting Factory, the Guardian becomes Gordon's ally against the Combines in the area until it's able to escape.

How about Half-Life 2 mods where you have a different synth companion in each one? You could have a Strider, Gunsip, Dropship or even an Advisor (Since Advisors have some intelligence to that of humans it would be a traitor that just wants to live.).

Since we at least see that Gunships get stationed and basically turned off maybe you can make mod of Gordon going to small combine facilitie that repairs Hunters. There you could need to connect the systems that take care of Hunters to some scientist and reprogram them to be friendly to humans.

The Dropship and the hunter be like "STOP MOVING AROUND WERE GOING THERE!" "NO I DONT WANNA GO THERE!" "STOP IT YOU UNGRATEFUL HUNTER!"

Nope. actually canonically there are two ways hunters get to a location #1 they run there on foot because they can maneuver through very rough enviorment and are excellent runners #2 there carried in on a device called hunter racks which carry two hunters each by drop ships. The name says it all because they are actual racks with two hunters hanging on them

i would love to see this as a chapter in the next half life game, imagine your down on your luck and a recent event caused you to get separated from your rebel crew. you arive at a costal outpost expecting a battle with a fierce hunter that was brought in for repair and to your surprise, a once fearsome foe becomes a valuable ally!

That combine soldiers leg got caught in the elevator, that's funny!

I like the idea of alyx not being the only one with a pet unlocked.
