Half-Cleared, Full Drama: Battling Root Blockage in Rain Gutters Blocked drain 46

In this one we attended a blocked down pipe. after removing and unblocking the pipe we found that there were many roots in the system. the way the pipe was installed, there was a dog leg joint in the ground that we had trouble getting round. the only way we would have been able to clear the roots was to remove a little paving and get to the gully avoiding the dog leg.
We managed to the a good flow in the gully with the access we had however the customer did not want to remove any paving so we had to stop there.
The customer is planning in the near future to have the paving lifted to install some new plumbing and hopes the fix we had done will last until then.
Thank you for watching and reading my story. I’m almost at 2K subs, so I really appreciate your support and kind words. I’m still learning, but I hope you enjoy my videos.

What a weird set-up. Sometimes it's not a good idea to hide things, especially drains!

Soakaways and adjacent hedges do not mix, personally I think whoever installed the pipework that way is an absolute idiot as gullies should not be buried below ground level especially in the event of a blockage. I once actually saw a video on KZread of someone installing a downstairs toilet, and they ran the soil pipe straight into the gully and cemented it in and everything - shocking! You win some you lose some I guess, but nevertheless I really enjoyed watching this vid Jamie. All the best 👍🏻

@@Elbows-Deep it’s best to use the chains with the Carbide Cutting Teeth let the Flex Shaft and Chains do the work don’t force it through and set your torque on number 5 to start off with but go no higher than 7 on the Torque Setting and only go into reverse for short brief bursts get the RENSSI Shafts and Chains from DRAINAGE Warehouse RENSSI ones are far superior to any of the other Shafts and Chains

What size hose is that you are putting down the pipe? it looks like 3/8. On the smaller pipes I use a 1/4 hose, and screw the nozzle directly to the hose, that helps it navigate through the pipe a lot easier. I wanted the reaper nozzle, but I ordered and just received the ENZ® ROTODRILL MINI 1/4, it is a very small turbo nozzle with rear jets (they also have a 1/8), I will be testing it soon. Whit is the PSI and flow of your machine?

It’s a 1/4 on the secondary, the prime is 3/8. I want to get the reaper and may just do that not. It looks smaller then the turbo I use and may have got round the dogleg. You say rotodrill do a 1/8, I’m going to look into the for sure. My machine is 2.6k psi and 36lpm I think. Not huge but works well to get the job done. Never failed me. 🙂

@@Elbows-Deep 1/8 is just the pipe size fitting on the nozzle, I bought the 1/4 nozzle and it is smaller than my thumb, and I have small hands. I tested that nozzle with my 4000 PSI 4 gpm(15 liter) machine and it just didn't seem to be doing what it could do, but that's because of my lower flow. I just got another 4000 psi 4 GPM machine and the fittings to tie them together to give me 4000 psi at 8 gpm(30 liter) That should make that nozzle come alive and do what it is supposed to do. I don't know if they make that nozzle with BSP threads, as I suppose that is what your hoses/nozzles/fittings are. I think the reaper offers BSP or NPT threads? Here we use NPT pipe threads, although some hoses/nozzles I ordered from ebay came in BSP threads, it's difficult trying to have 2 different threads, while I can buy adaptors, that just increases the length at the hose/fitting, making it more difficult to navigate in the pipe. I have to get a tank, as some places can not provide the 8 gpm I need to run my setup. so in the meantime, I just use 1 unit at 4000 psi, 4 gpm.

@@stevem1081 oh so they don’t make a smaller nozzle for the 1/8 just put a different thread in. Still I think being smaller then your thump is a good small size for some harder to get to places. I must have a look at getting one and adaptor if needed. I do have a secondary machine in the van too that’s a 4k 4gpm like yours and it dosnt spin the rotary nozzles, I think it’s more the flow needed so there is weight behind the pressure that makes them work.

It defiantly would have gone down there but wouldnt cut the roots. i needed to get the cutter in the but it would only just get into the dogleg pipework and get stuck on the bends. shame because i would have loved to get it in there just for the fun of cutting them out.
