"I never questioned beyond picket fences" makes a lot more sense, having a picket fence outside your house is a symbol of idealised married life, no one's sitting on them

That's what I really like in Halestorm songs - not only good music but great lirycs too!

I don't think so … surely it's a good Rock Album but not at the level of songs of the past …. like Love Bites , i am the Fire , i love the misery , i get off , Mayhem , Amen , Familiar taste of Poison , Dear Daughter and much more …. maybe they were too great those songs to be replaced at the same level … i don't know it's my first impression listening to new songs… a very good album but nothing special, anyway i love lizzy and i will be to European Tour !!

My fucking anthem. Seriously people are always up in my business whenever I say something like "I'm not looking for a relationship right now." "I don't care if I never get married." "I am never having children." Like they either lose their shit or they act like I was asking their opinion. I wasn't, I was making a statement, their opinions on my life are irrelevant because they don't have to live with the choices I make, so it's none of their fucking business. I'm not looking for a relationship because I have more important things to focus on, like getting my HSE and going to college. I don't care if I don't get married because people don't need romantic relationships to be happy, I will only marry someone that I want to spend the rest of my life loving, but if I don't I'll still be happy. And I don't want kids because I don't have the patience necessary to raise one, and children are not possessions that exist to serve their parents in any manner. Yet no matter how many times I explain this people just refuse to understand. Like, my mother has enough grandchildren, she doesn't need anymore, and the fact that I apparently have 'an excellent body for childbirth' is not an excuse for me to have kids either. As far as relationships, men are intimidated/threatened by me and I would rather die alone than be in a relationship that doesn't make me happy. I don't want my greatest accomplishment in life to be "I'm so-and-so's wife/mother," that's fine for some women but not for me. I want to go to culinary and business school and open my own restaurant, but my family keeps trying to talk me into following a path similar to some of the other women in my family who married young, had tons of kids, and didn't do what they wanted to do in life because they were too busy being a wife and mother; some of them even stuck in an abusive relationship that they couldn't leave because they had no skills/resources to take care of their kids and they didn't want to leave them. The people who support me most are my brothers and their wives, who are all pretty non traditional in our family's opinion so it makes sense that they'd be the ones who don't have a problem with my plans. TLDR: this song is my anthem because I want to be a business owner instead of a wife or mother, and my huge old values Mormon family has an issue with that and keeps trying to change my mind or just assumes that I will in the future. But I'm my fathers daughter (emotionally manipulative and abusive asshole he was though) and I am far more stubborn and ambitious than they can imagine.

@bruce wayne it is a choice. I have seen so many get married are more miserable than being happy. I have seen men cheat on their spouse because they can't seem to leave their own unhappy marriage. They are obligated to stay because divorce rates are too high. I mean if that is marriage it's not worth my time. I am fine alone and have been quite some time.
