You missed the: Put it down somewhere nearby. Pose. 😜
Now I’m wondering if Berdleys battle pose is accurate
Hell yeah! Thanks for the reference! Currently taking my first few steps into learning how to draw more fantasy aesthetic with armor and weapons and stuff so this is incredibly helpful.
As a writer, these videos of yours are absolute gems. You'd be surprised how helpful little bits of information like this can be.
Love that you know some of your audience. I personally use yours and a few other peoples videos as a sort of guide for my writing. Helps me make medieval combat at least a bit realistic.
Thank you very much for this! As an artist, I understand how hard it can be to find a good reference. Thank you for your consideration!
The last pose, with better posture mind,, is probably the most common and real.
I’m just imagining now, how many guards fell asleep on that damn thing 😂 also fun fact, the reason town guards used halberds, in addition to all the weapon’s benefits in combat, was for firefighting, look it up but the weapons structure makes it ideal for demolition, which is how old firefighting went, when the whole village is made of wood, sometimes wrecking 2 or 3 houses saves all the rest

@@robinst-pierre9600 hey, this is the first short I ever saw of his, and have since come to watch many more of his videos so o wouldn’t have known that, at the time I recently learned that fact myself and wanted to share somewhere I thought people would share the interest, hence why I did it here, thank you!
This is such a good channel and he really does informative short format content the best I've seen out of any channel
Bro, how you're so community friendly?
The last one is classic “bored townsguard” we’ve seen so many times in movies
Yo this is actually helpful. The fifth pose with the arms folded actually inspires me. It reminds me of a hunter holding a rifle.
They do? That's neat! Perhaps you could show off some of their art in a future short? With their permission of course
And you quickly go from the last stance to the first stance when someone important walks by
And now you, sir, have become one of my favorite hema youtubers.
Thank you, that's so thoughtful! I may now become one of said artists :)
Your content is great! Just the kind of information that is invaluable to me although useless in my day-to-day!
The halbard truly is one of the greatest spears man has ever made. Stylish and practical.
As an illustrator, I find this amazing. Thanks for this video
Hello robin, I will use this but I'm not going to tell you how I'll use it nor will you ever know. Thanks.
Any idea how common it was to cover the weapon's head with a leather sheath or something similar the way people do when carrying axes today?

I haven't seen any particular evidence for it myself. I'd be curious to hear if someone has. Generally, I think these arms simply don't see carry in a way that would call for it. In that you're not needing to retain it on your person while you do daily tasks and the like where the edge is out of your direct control.
Man looks like a medieval power ranger.
That last pose has some real "I once was an adventurer like you till I took an arrow to the knee" energy ❤
❤
I like it leaning on your shoulder, and then you have like a book in your hands or you’re taking notes or something. That’s an aesthetic
I don't usually draw characters with halberds, but this video will certainly give me more motivation to do so. Thank you.
I can’t thank you enough, can’t even tell you the amount of times I look up poses and none of them look at all natural
The last one is the flirting position
No idea how medieval weapons got into my suggested videos but boy am I here for it :)
I wanna see this but in your daily clothes. Big "we've given clark kent a halberd" vibes.
The very fact that you're aware of this is a brilliant thing! On behalf of artists - thank you!
Not gonna lie he looks cool in the outfit
I rarely have to draw a halberd, but the thoughtfulness of providing actual human references for art purposes is not overlooked. Thank you very much 😊
This artist Appreciates you ❤
You're the hero we artists need but don't deserve. THANK YOU!!
God, I wish more people would do videos like this. It is so DIFFICULT finding natural poses in general. Brilliant.
Holding the halberd by the spike is actually pretty genius. Skewering people behind you while walking around with a pole weapon was apparently common enough that Wessex during king Alfred's time actually had a law that assigned a specific (and quite hefty) fine for doing just that.
thanks for acknowledging us 😭 your vids are always fun and helpful
That last one immediately made me start hearing the drums from the monty python scene where the guards are watching the dude run at them for an uncomfortably long time.
Honestly the halberd is easily my favorite polearm, no competition for the cool factor
you should do more long form content like in depth breakdowns of fighting styles or the evolution of medieval weapons/ armor or something like that
Clark Kent started dressing like a hero from an 80s anime
As a flagpole carrier in a band, relatable, especially the last one and the let it rest on shoulder one
I can see humbleness and devotion here.
My man, hermano, my dude, amigo, "This might look weird but it feels very comfortable and has structure" fella like the coolest thing I've ever heard as a beginner artist.
The "bit odd" pose is actually the safest.
I love the townguard slouch at the end
These poses are so dynamic and portray so much emotion, they’re already art just as photography 😂✨
You know, if you really want to help artists out, we do appreciate practicing the full male form.
"Hand on the spike" would be a great position for some heavy armed guards with armored gloves
BORED/TIRED stance is such a perfect diorama pose. Adds a life element! Great as always!
I love that you wanna help out artists and teach something at the same time ^^
YEAAAAAAA MY POSE REFERENCE MAN AT IT AGAIN!!! Saving me from having to look up references and saving my sanity
I'm a beginning artist, and this is far beyond my current skill level, but I think this is a really smart video idea and mega helpful. It might even make a good series and even playlist
My sister is a character design artist that people come to for DnD art every now and then . I’ve recommended your videos to my sister like 3-4 months ago because your weapon poses are the bomb !
My Civil War reenactor brain going “right shoulder shift, support arms, secure arms”
..... wait... did you know that without your glasses, you look like Superman???
This was so sweet of you to help out unknown artists just because you can
If you let your halberd lean on you, it’ll let you lean on it too. ❤
he’s a homie for this
Thank you for this! Honestly wouldnt be against some more reference from you! Perhaps with Spears, maces, shields, etc ^^
The pose where you held the spike kinda explains why some of the more fancy halberds had a rounded bottom to grasp on.
"knowing that artists sometimes use my videos as reference, I'm about to do them a solid" proceeds to do so
As an artist who is constantlylooking for references, THANK YOU! 🎉
This dude dripped the fuck out
i swear this is the best channel on that theme
As a nerdy artist who has never seen you before... this video made me subscribe.
The 7th pose is actually how I carry my cane around when I'm not actively using it but am keeping it on my person it for when I do.
Oh yes. This is great. Please more of these poses!
As an artist? I love you for this. Thank you.
The last pose be like: my cousin is out there fighting dragons, and what do i get? guard duty
I love this guy. He’s a nerd for his thing which is medieval weapons but he goes so hard on it that he goes from nerd to BDE. Passion and and dedication is always respectable.
I cant stress how much i liked this, and i have no idea why
