    I was in your situation and decided to use Muslim dating apps. 80%of the people there did not seem serious or didn't know what they want. My rule was, I don't date outside my city, I don't chat more than a few days, we have to meet in person outside in a public spaceand no flirting, just talking about personality and future expectations. I made istikhara after every date and they all crumbled except one. And now I am married to him alhamdulilah, I am 34.

    Our religion isn’t here to suffocate us. To partake in certain activity is haram. But to interact with a person of interest with boundaries without needing a father figure to dictate isn’t haram. Islam is in fact very freeing and only requires the Wali to bless a marriage, not to dictate conversations and so on. After all we all know what kind of interaction is appropriate and which is inappropriate. In this day and age to meet somebody it’ll be called “dating” and this is simply interaction between two people who are interested in each other in hopes of the same goal- holy matrimony. So my opinion is put yourself out there but protect yourself and stay wary!

    Love your video!! It’s a very important topic! Honestly, as long as both men and women set red lines and boundaries and ACTUALLY abide by these boundaries, apps, masjids, community events, and other ways are needed to meet people and then you need to sift through them to find the right one for you

    Don’t get me started on that!! I literally ponder everyday about these “religious figures” who seem so holy but then sneak into your DMs and state inappropriate things. I learned so many valuable lessons from them. Beware of these kinds of men, religious or non-religious. I get turned off so fast from these comments. It’s just not the kind of thing I want to hear when I’m getting to know someone.

There were no compatible people for me. Now I am on dating app's and have met sisters that are more similar to me in religion, interest, and family.

    Sister, I’m so glad that you made this video and talked openly about this issue. I’m in the same shoes as you for several years(I meant the exact same shoe lol being single for 3 years, in my late 20s, two kids) and I 100% agree that it’s so difficult to meet people. I’m from the same state as you and despite being around small Muslim communities it’s almost impossible to meet people. I have tried dating app for only a few days and realized there are hardly any Muslim guy with serious intention so I deleted the app. But I asked myself this question countless times as well that how do we get to know/meet someone in today’s world? Right now I’m trying to focus on other things and waiting for Allah to allow me to meet the right person. Keep me in your prayers. May Allah make everything easy for us.

    Me too sister.. I'm at the age where most of my friends already married and have 2 or 3 teenage children. But, now I'm still single and haven't been married. Even though I live In Indonesia, where you probably think would be easy to find spouse whose also Islam. It's really hard for me to find one. When I have negative thoughts, I always remind myself that it is Allah's decree and that maybe this is the best for me right now. I've tried dating apps, but it always turned out bad. Like you said, they never had any serious intentions. So now I'm trying to join a pre-nikkah courses to get an insight about marriage in Islam. And hopefully Allah will meet me with my future husband. Ameen. May Allah make it easy for us and may Allah always protect us.

    "Dating" for us Muslims isn't like how the western world views it. We go into "dating" with the intention of marriage which means we have strict restrictions during interactions with the opposite gender that takes place in the presence of a mahram. Also as Muslims we are blessed to be able to utilize the prayer of istikhara to receive Allah's guidance in order to know whether a potential spouse is right for us and whether or not we should proceed into a marriage with them.

    Hi sister, what the sister in the youtube video mentioned is a shia belief. We Muslims upon the sunnah of the prophet don't believe in such thing as 'dating' and doing it will destroy your imaan. Literally anything I've learnt in my life is to avoid haram, at the end Allah always gives me something better.

    As a revert it is very easy to resort to youtube for the problems you face which is very understandable when you have no Muslims around you. However, it is very important we take knowledge from the right people, not unqualified youtubers who are speaking from their desires. I recommend you start by learning Quran, praying etc. Then start studying Islamic books like usool al thalatha with islamic teachers. I only mean to say what's good as it is very dangerous to take knowledge from the wrong people. Thanks for reading jazakallah khairan

    Salam alaikum zahra, I am a revert of 5 years ahumdillah I am still learning Islam. I have only been practicing the past two years and I have two children. I live in Australia and I swear every single word you said is what I’m going through! It’s so hard to meet someone genuine! I feel like being on a dating app and when I match with a guy they don’t take me seriously when they see I’m a non hijabi and a revert. So I get spoken to in a manner and I just get exhausted speaking to them after two weeks they start flirting and find out I have my own business my own house etc and try invite themselves over? Like wth! So I wish them the best then block them. But then they try and find me on social media lol it gets creepy… I’m 36 and still looking! It’s so hard! Inshallah the right man will come to me I’ll be honest, I know so many hijabi personally that date in secret for a few years then they end up doing nikkah, but wallah if I did the same I feel like the man won’t ever marry me coz I’m a revert and they are from Muslim families so they accept.. it’s sad to say, but it’s so true.

    The important thing is to know your worth and be cautious of men who take advantage of your situation , as a revert or a woman. I think you set those boundaries by what you approve/disapprove. After a few short convos I immediately know if someone is a good fit to even give him my time. That’s just eliminating the wrong suitors for my own sake and allows me to not get emotionally attached, it’s hard , no doubt about that. But inshallah I have hope we can all somehow connect with someone if we know what we want. Best of luck ❤️

    11:00 I have a feeling that I made a mistake of the part where you said is not do flirting. On Insta, she told me that when we meet at the event don't flirt in front of others. I said OfCourse I won't & then added that maybe a little without anyone knowing. But now that I think about it. I believe that was dumb of me. I hope it doesn't cause any red flag later on. We are going to meet at an event on Saturday Insha'Allah. I hope it goes well & we get to know each other a lot better. It's my first time & I have no idea how I am going to do it. No matter how hard I try, I just feel so nervous for some reason. Though I will try to stay strong & be myself. I wish my father was still alive. Would be really needing his advice right now.

    I’m a revert without mahram and business wise I’m in your shoes as well but dating apps are not the way. There are similar platforms though where you can choose to talk to someone according to their profile and you speak to them through a third-party. It’s not bc we think that we can control ourselves that we are allowed to date without a mahram, whether it is online or irl, cause shaytan will use every way even those we don’t expect. It won’t necessarily be flirting. If this isn’t allowed, it is for a reason. And Allah knows better ✨ May Allah help us. From what I can understand "dating" is more like old fashioned courting. Very strict and stringent. Now this is from a reverts point of view. I would want my family involved as much as possible. And his family too. It would have to be someone local for that reason. If he is local then my cousins and uncles probably know him and can advise what sort of person he is.

    As per my opinion it's easy for a girl to operate an dating app . because most of the profile in which boys get there match is fake or it has problem on it.i know some of the boys will agree on it . And in the dating app we get fake people so it's very difficult to trust someone . And for girls it's more difficult because in dating app people come for hukup haram kind of thing . So we need to follow the slow process to understand and person the more slow we go the more we understand genuine person.

    There are islamic books that have loads or relavent questions, some light things like food preferences ( which can be a huge prob actually) to how you will deal with finances. Some women have no access to husbands accounts, some are their book keepers. Dont be shy to ask questions, if you are ...then get your dad to do it. He worked hard on his daughter and deserves to be handing her over to someone who will take care of her. But get the book, so you are not asking stupid questions like what his fav meal is. His stance on zabiha, leftovers, going out...will tell you more of who he is and how he will treate you.

I also want to know if it’s true that muslims aren’t allowed to listen to music? I also want to know if make up is haram? I have a really open minded view to Islam but the things I see that you’re allowed and not allowed to do as a Muslim are kinda gross to be honest. There is no such thing in Islamic countries. There is a test that takes it against women. There is also a medicine that reveals which rape is better... 🗿 I mean, it is the rape of the woman who witnesses what he does other than defending us or being with I mean the woman. If she says men raped me, I mean, she is lying.

    Thanks for being respectful. Not only is it haram, but marriage between a Muslim woman and Christian man wouldn't be valid, and it would be seen as living in sin. If you dont plan on converting, I would recommend you leave her be. But if you do plan on converting, all I would say is make sure you're doing it for yourself, not for her. I've heard of men converting for their Muslim wives and regretting it because they never connected with the religion and thought it was too restrictive. (It's not, imo, but I like to look into why things are prohibited)

    This might not be practiced often but i talk to only one muslima at a time so i can better navigate how i feel women to women and so that i dont potentially make these women competition for each other. I like being transparent with her and her wali that if im talking to a sister ill say Assulamu alaykum i appreciate connecting respectfull so inshaallah something may turn out great. Right now im talking to a women and would like to hold my integrity to getting to know her and if we dont work out then ill get back to the both of you and inshaallah plan a day to meet and talk. I see alot of times often many will date so many they become indecisive on who their partner will be that it forms pressure and makes competition. A moderation is a great doing as well in engaging and getting to know someone thoroughly.

    Meetimg someone from these apps is almost always a big disappointment so it's waste of time. Yo need to click with that person in person. You might be best friends over the phone but then in reality it's different and you must at least recognise that and not continue if your expectations aren't fullfiled. He might look different on photos or he might sound different, act different, talk less or more and you need to see the body language if it matches his words which often doesn't. Read about toxic relationships before getting married. Read a lot. That's my best advice so you don't end up with narcissist, psychoopat etc.

    I think it’s sad that female/male interactions are so sexualized and made taboo. Ive had so many great friendships with different genders and think it helps you see the humanity of ppl and go beyond stereotypes. I think this strict gender separation creates soo many problems I society.

  • @lostsouls5885

    @lostsouls5885

    2 жыл бұрын

    it's not a matter of 'taboo'. There is two sides - liberalism + feminism and Islam. What you have said corresponds with liberalism and feminism. It juxtaposes the values of Islam. Please brother/sister you can't mix the two. Islam doesn't allow men and women to be just 'friends', which I believe we all know but we give in to our desires (including me) and follow what the white say. For centuries we told the west to not follow Christianity and they now stopped. Now they made up their own ideologies which we again tell them are wrong. However, we can't be telling them they are wrong while our people are such big fans of them.

  • @lostsouls5885

    @lostsouls5885

    I think the gender separation actually creates less problems. Now that genders are free to mix, the cases of STI's (as the prophet ﷺ said they will be) are out of the roof. More people are being raped and women are overly sexualised. We as humans love to decide whats right and wrong, but the reality is we can't. Only God can set moral standards for society - as he knows it best.
