This anime will always be my top 1 no matter how many I’ve watched. The story of shinsengumi is just too tragic I tear up every time I think of their fate😭RIP shinsengumi members they didn’t do anything wrong they were just born in the wrong historical period😭

Then I recommend watching the 2 films they released (one for each season)! I loved the films because while it was still sad the ending was a little different and I enjoyed the character development more :)

Even this anime is so sad and tragic, but I will always love this anime. My fav sad anime. I love almost all the characters and story. My fav character is Okita Souji along with Hijikata and Saitou. Ten years after the series came out I reviwied hakuouki and listenned the opening as if was my 1st time. This is so perfect but to sad. That final was to cruel *cries* I need more series, ovas, films with a nice final please !!!

Compartilho do mesmo sentimento. Eu realmente fui pego de surpresa lá pela metade do anime. Eu não estava botando fé que pouco a pouco o grupo do Shinsengumi iria ficar menor. O lado bom nisso é que suas mortes não foram em vão. Todos morreram de forma honrosa e heroica para salvar os companheiros. A morte do Souji foi algo que me marcou por muito tempo, foi ele morreu lutando sozinho contra um grupo que queria invadir a vila na calada da noite para matar todo mundo, porém, ele descobriu os planos deles e os matou, e com isso se sacrificando, pois já estava fraco pela doença (tuberculose) avançada. Esse anime realmente nos ensina muitas coisas. Eu vou tirar um tempo pra poder re-assistir os eps mais uma vez. haha

His last moment was truly epic. Already knowing that his death was certain, he went all out to defend Chizuru and Hijikata from a surprise attack on that night when they were in the village.

Isso meio que me deixou muito triste, pois ele sempre foi um personagem que se importavam com todos, sempre tentava ajudar ao máximo. Aliais, foi ele quem começou tudo isso. Chamou o Hijikata que nunca tinha esperanças de ser um Samurai na vida, pois ele vinha de uma família humilde e ele trabalhava como vendedor. E foi aí que o Kondo mudou a vida dele, tirando esses pensamentos negativos para poder seguir em frente. Rapaz, eu acho que vou até tirar um dia pra assistir mais uma vez esses eps. haha

Try the visual novel. Kyoto Winds is the first season, Edo Blossoms is the second. You get to pick who to date, rather than just Hijikata, and most endings are really happy without death! (Use a walkthrough) :)

@@ShokudaikiriMitsutada A era Edo é muito importante para a história do Japão e o anime consegue retratar isso muito bem. Tanto que na primeira temporada mostra um Japão um pouquinho antes de ser totalmente tomado pelos EUA e os samurais ainda podiam andar livremente pelas ruas. Já na segunda temporada é o país sobre influência total dos EUA, tanto é que os personagens acabam tendo de se adaptar a essa nova era. Por isso que esse anime é simplesmente PERFEITO!!!
