man! Dude! that was awesome! This is exactly why I dropped Long Fist for Hakka fist after my son was born, and after I lost a fight against a Wing Chun man.

Although there has been an explosion of Hakka Sets in many of the hands over the last 30 years or so there is still a core of Hakka MA lineages that have retained the short, repeating cycles and a considerably limited number of Set. Fundamentals, repeatedly pressure tested by hard contact, non-cooperative sparring remains a mainstay as it should for a practical fighting system.

Always a good watch - thanks for the upload. Also like seeing the Hakka fist style - which we can guess is southern praying mantis (and a variation of jook lum), but love all the hakka styles, they all have such robust short-range power generation.

This is very interesting for me as a TKD student. I can see a possible lineage from this application through Okinawan karate to hechyo makki block in TKD, though from my naive understanding some of the 'spreading force' nuance is likely lost. Thank you for the interesting video 👍

Hakka were very martial in their nature as they had to be since everyone else was messing with them. Lots of Hakka were famous generals and warriors as well as scholars

The way I'm seeing it applied, it looks much like Wing Chun's Tan Sau in principle.

The power generation is slightly different. This particular move uses alot of expanding/contract spinal power commonly seen in spit and swallow of Hakka fists. Tan Sau uses a more rooted spine power. Also tan sau is more of a wedging tool for the chain punch. This is more of a cutting/smashing tool.

@@Simon2k17 Some branches of Yip Man WC use a palm-down hand similar to an inverted tan, sau variously called biu sau or fook sau with a very similar explosive energy. Note. this is not the typical form of fook or biu, they just use the same terms. I suspect WC has more Hakka influence than some would care to admit.
