Haiti's high-profile gang leader speaks to Al Jazeera about crisis

Protests in Haiti this week have turned the spotlight on gang violence engulfing the country.
Powerful groups now control vast areas of the capital Port Au Prince.
Jimmy Cherizier, also known as Barbecue, is one of their most high-profile leaders.
He spoke exclusively to Al Jazeera about the crisis.
Al Jazeera's John Holman reports.

You are right. The haiti problems is the American. They keep putting puppets on power to have fully control on haiti. They don't want us to be free. Every time we have a good one, they do everything to diss him, using the media, gangs , corrupted politicians and so one. For using your 5 years peacefully a haitian president should make all Americans wishes. If not, they will down you in a second.

No this is a panned coordinated attacks because out of nowhere in the same week three different main stream news, outlets published in interview with a barbecue and they all are titled gang leader! That is not helping Haiti especially when barbecue is not a gang leader he is someone trying to keep western interest out and have Haiti treated like any other nation in the Caribbean and around the world but Canada in the US want to keep Haiti impoverished for them to keep their sweatshops in Haiti have their pharmaceutical companies for them to test drugs on the improvisations, rather than simply clean up the country, which is way easier than infecting people with test drugs’. Please do not support these type of interviews with Haiti because what they’re doing is making a reason for them to invade our country

No where did I hear that they wanted to overthrow the government. "a military force that engages in rebel or terrorist activities in opposition to a regular army." They are gangs as the media states. "an organized group of criminals". Gangs are about survival. They setup territories or borders to keep conflict with other gangs down. They do not have the firepower nor the will and organization to take on the government. They are survivalist by nature. They start as an alternative to the establishment. Because they feel that there needs are not being met by the establishment. They just happen to be criminal activities to survive.

They are a group of males with an established leader that has taken control over a territory and participates in nefarious activities such as killing police officers and innocent people, raping women and children, and hoarding food and water from people who aren't "rebels". Referring to them as gangs is much more palatable than the more appropriate terms like beasts or savages.

CORRUPTION is legalized in the West, they call it POLITICAL LOBBYING, nobody worth the effort, ever gets charged in the west for "corruption", and yet we know what the charge of "tax evasion" really means corruption ---- "corruption" now seems to be another word in the western political lexicon to define African/black leaders and Russian oligarchs panache for ILLICIT CAPITAL FLIGHTS aka money laundering. Unfortunately, all thieves, whether in Africa or Russia hide money in the west and their created tax havens, were no one rich ever gets prosecuted for corruption.... So, think carefully, if "corruption" is not really an issue to the economies of the west, then why is it , in their estimates more of an African/black issue than the capital flights they welcome without questions asked into their economies....??? In the west, even the mafia are local employers and pay their taxes, illicit capital flight is an act of money laundering not "corruption"...
