Once i became a customer it was all smiles.

50 years and all this tradition with straight razor, then the dude whips out a 99 cent plastic shaver. I couldn't stop laughing!

I had my hair cut in Naples, Italy once, when stationed there. I lived on the economy and not near any Americans. They used only scissors and warm towels with no electric razors at all. It was like having your hair trimmed by Edward Scissorhands. Scary at first, as they also talk with their hands as they hold the scissors and wave them back and forth as they speak and embellish everything with wild hand gestures, but that is the Italian way. After all was said and done, the hair cut was as professional as any I had ever had in America and very, very cheap, too. I spoke very, very little Italian at that time, so it was neat that I didn't end up with a bald head in the process. Foreign countries offer unique and exciting situations which all should experience and give a try when the opportunity is there to enjoy. With my limited understanding of the language at the time, I am glad that those Italian barbers did not do a circumcision on me though in thinking I was requesting a Jewish mohel service. :-)

Yeah this shop turned out to be the ultimate in old man barber shops. I had no idea what to expect when I walked in.... they didnt seem to care if I wanted anything or not at first.

Loved it dude, always wanted to go to Jakarta. And I get my ears cleaned every two years. Great vibe.
