HAIRCUT | Omeleto Drama

Фильм және анимация

A modern couple can't connect over her new short hair.
HAIRCUT is used with permission from David Brundige. Learn more at davidbrundige.com.
Lindsey and Josh are a young, seemingly upwardly mobile couple living together and sharing a life. But one day Lindsey comes home with a new shorter haircut. When it fails to elicit the right amount of support and reassurance from Josh, an argument develops between them, unearthing repressed resentments and deeper conflicts they've buried in the day-to-day of their life together.
Writer-director David Brundige's short falls under the "dramedy" category, with its portrayal on the foibles of human beings and the messes they make for themselves with their careless words.
Its dialogue is sharp, smart and often very witty, alive to the ways modern couples of a certain stripe are at least aware of the idea of effective communication, with its emphasis on "I" statements and the like.
But underneath this veneer of cleverness and intelligence, the storytelling also unearths the raw, murky emotions that people deal with: fear, rejection, anger, insecurity and more. It also grapples with the obstacles that bedevil many long-term domestic partnerships: how individual personal growth can often stagnate in order to keep a relationship afloat, and how we sand away our honesty and openness to avoid hurting another's feelings, but often at the expense of a relationship's vitality.
These narrative aims are brought to life with two great performances by lead actors Sophie Traub and Sharif Corinaldi, who capture the shifting sands of the subterranean emotions underneath their words with great precision and honesty. Their performances are tracked with equally precise, almost documentary-style camerawork, which makes the emotions both intimate and sometimes even claustrophobic.
Essentially a turning point scene between two people, the compressed narrative scale and hothouse atmosphere of HAIRCUT contains an epic's worth of emotions in one important conversation. There's a twist in the ending that may make viewers reevaluate and re-judge what they've watched, but what remains true is the sense that all relationships face tests everyday, whether we're aware of them or not. But it takes honesty with ourselves and with others to face these small cracks with genuine openness and vulnerability -- or else pay a bigger price down the road when it comes to love and connection.

TRUE STORY...my good friend got married and the week after the wedding, she cut her long hair and got a pixie cut, knowing that her new husband hates short hair. This omeleto is just soooo real. This happens all the time with hair, weight, loss of job, new passions and hobbies. Bravo for this gem. 5 star....

Wow, this one was super good. It's my second favourite out of about 30 that I've seen. This is just so REAL! I did a pixie cut once and my husband at the time said he loved it, but.....women started coming on to me and he didn't like that. We are now divorced. hmmm, I wonder if it was my pixie cut. Holy moly. Oh I went vegetarian too. I pissed him off in many ways. lol

Actually having your long hair cut is always a loss. When as a teenager I had my hair cut, I was mourning too and my dad was devastated for weeks. My partner also loves long hair, his reactions would be the same.....maybe worse🙃 I think it is normal for a man to feel a bit shocked in such a situation. HE was honest but in a nice way. He loves her, you could absolutely feel it. But I am not sure about the girl. Yeah, she was expecting different reactions and was disappointed. I think they will get over it.

I've game-taste similar to the girl. I would similarly expel the man from the house but I'd definitely not cut my hair to relieve the sense of betrayal. Great cinema.

This doesn't paint either of the characters in a good light. She comes across as crazy (lieing about the hair, being super defensive, trying to pick a fight), and he's a little cry baby but neither of them can communicate with each other either. I don't know what the meaning or point of this story was... don't trust women when they say they get hair cuts?

It is about the Hair. Women love to cut their hair once they are in a relationship. Women jut do not understand that a majority of Men love long hair on a Woman. Women use the excuse to cut is it is easier to maintain. Once the relationship is over. Women will grow long hair trying to attract again.

1 Corinthians 11:14-15, Does not even nature itself teach you, that if a man has long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory (dignity, honor) to her: for her hair is given her for a covering." John 3:16 for every human being. We are living in the end times. God Bless you all in these comment in Jesus Christ Holy Name. (P.S. Women represent the glory of God's creation and men represent the glory of God (Bible). The reason why the "short hair" bothers him is that "a women's hair" represents an ancient principle of women's natural femininity.)

Didn't Jesus and almost every other man that time wear long hair? shame onto him i guess. i think evrybody should have the right to present themselves as they wish. there are going to be people who like it and people who hate it. you have to deal with that. and i'm pretty shure god is not that superficial to judge people based on what they wear or look like, rather than their actions.

The hair actually doesn't bother him. Also, every depiction of Jesus is with long hair. This seems like a very odd pseudo-religious things to make a big deal out of. Like, I don't imagine meeting you and finding out you are actually a very moral or spiritually connected person.

MISinterpreting the Bible in order to try to perpetuate misogyny and control over women, thus pushing strangers on the internet away from God by making him seem authoritarian and obssed over looks (which is a projection of you) might just grant you a special place in hell 😉. That is not what the passage is about and you mistake a letter to some people somewhere in a certain era, in a different age, with certain social expectations (long haired men were considered to be prositutes back then) and make a rule out of that. Don't drag God into your bigotry.
