I don't know, since I've never had real dreads. But I've found these to only be minorly itchy, every once in a while. So probably not.

Just about to shave my sides after growing them out for 3 months (thinking I could do normal hair was a big mistake) and I have been so tempted to keep some ear tails as I didn't before, I'm definitely gonna keep them because when I shave I love how yours look! Also loving the mixture of textures on these dreads, look so badass!!

I really love how synthetic dreads look, but I don't think I would look good with them, I was staring at Sammis page for hours because of how amazing their dreads look, it's really got me wanting some, but j have really think hair, and I don't think they would look very good on me, but they look AMAZING on you! You can literally do ANY hair cut/style and still look good. I'm jealous! Lol

I love your hair so much. I actually used your video of you shaving your sides as a reference for my hair cut. But recently I cut straight bangs into mine to help add height to my Mohawk.

You pull off synths really well!!!! And the ear tails? Look great on you. I'm glad that you don't let people talk you out of doing it your way :) I have a question, I have thin, natural blonde hair and have never dyed it so I don't know if it would look good to dye it black (doubting it would) so I don't really want to. Another drawback is that my hair seems to have stopped growing, so I don't know if it would grow back if I shaved it like you do. These things are why I haven't done synths yet. I really want to do them because they look really good and I've always hated not having much hair. Any thoughts and/or advice?

+Abby D Hey there~ You could try dying half your hair black (like bottom half or even down the middle haha) or like a strip or somethin', you don't have to though, you can get dreads in basically ANY colors; especially blonde>brights You can still wear dreads in thin hair, just usually less I don't think your hair has stopped growing, i'm sure it would grow back even if it was slow... I can't promise it would work, but in the past I took 1 vitamin E capsule a day and my hair grew sooo fast, I had to stop cause I was so tired of redying my roots every 3-4 weeks with 1" roots haha

+Abby D Thank you for your compliments! Sorry I didn't see this sooner. One thing you could try as well, is dreadfalls. Or a dread wig. That way you could at least test out the look of synths on you before committing to an install. On top of that, you could see how the darker colors would work on you. That's what I did with my first set and ended up liking them so much as dreadfalls that I went ahead and put them in. Haven't looked back since!

I noticed that you're installing these with wet hair. Do you notice any pros or cons to doing this? I've only ever installed on completely dry hair

+farijuanah I'm told not to do it, as it can damage hair and cause breakage. But I do it on wet because I'm bad at braiding and this helps keep the sections together. Also it's tighter/cleaner. So, I'd say keep installing on dry hair as that's the way you're supposed to do it.

+farijuanah I usually advise against it since if you braid em in tight on wet hair, the braids will dry to be even tighter and super uncomfy; but maybe if you don't wet the very roots? :p I dunno! I guess it could be worth a try since it works well for Kathleen obviously
