@@madisonwismer2526 hey! if your hair is extremely dry, then oiling everyday may be beneficial but like doro said in the video, it can cause product buildup and dandruff and it’s kind of gonna be a mess. our hair needs a break sometimes! You can totally increase it to 3-4 times a week if needed, but everyday is slightly excessive

@Jill K. I created a hair butter that has shea butter, coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil, rosemary oil, castor oil, and grape seed oil. I put a little on my hair before I wash to help detangle and when I wash my hair it feels so soft and smooth. On other days I'll use coconut oil.

As an asian girl, my mother has taught me from basically the age I started showering myself to always oil my hair an hour or 2 after showering (not while it's still wet because your hair is still delicate) and not putting too much in either. The secret she tells me is that if your hair looks like it's shining too much when reflecting thats way too much but on the other hand if you don't have a bit of shine thats way too low. You want a mid shine thats natural and sparkles your hair without drenching, if your hair look wet after oiling then thats too much. Also avoid applying the oil on the strands themselves, but rather brush the oil down with your fingers from root to the tip. Imagine your scalp like ur face, you don't want to overwhelm it or leave it completely dry, put a light thin layer to boost your hair and scalp.

You also need to keep in mind that certain oils are different chemically. Penetrating Oils will have Monounsaturated Fatty Acids and Saturated Fatty Acids which have a linear build that makes it easier to penetrate the hair shaft. Oils like these are: Olive & Avocado, Sweet Almond Protecting Oils/Butters: Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Grapeseed, Safflower, Argan, Kukui. Protecting Oils have Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids that create a protectivefilm around the hair shaft. So these kind of oils are best used to apply AFTER showering to TRAP moisture in the hair shaft. It will only create a barrier on the hair and not penetrate it.

You had me do more “research “ on sweet almond oil. I always thought it was a sealant but I see now it penetrates slightly and can seal in moisture. Win win. I realize now they’re finding more oils out there that can penetrate than the few originals. Olive, coconut and avocado. I always have a mixture of oils with different properties but I don’t have almond. I need to incorporate that.

Growing up as an Indian girl and being very familiar with coconut oil benefits to my hair, I'm very surprised with how many mistakes my parents made with applying oil to my hair. For one thing, they would warm it up in the microwave (wrong), and very roughly massage it into my scalp and hair (wrong), use a fine tooth comb to comb through it after (wrong), tie my hair in a very tight french braid and rolled up in a tight bun (wrong), have me keep it in for like a day and a half or over the whole weekend (wrong), and wash it 3 times in the shower with hot hot 🔥 water and shampoo until my hair was completely stripped of all its oils 😂 (also wrong) lol and then towel dry then blow dry my hair until there was no moisture left 😀 now as an adult I finally know how to do it the right way haha thank you very much for this video. I'm going to do an organic virgin coconut oil treatment on my hair now and follow all your steps. I'll be referring to this video in the future very often 👍🏽

Oiling your hair : detangle your hair so it is very smooth , apply the oil first into your palms , warm it a bit in your hands - by simply rubbing your hands and then apply it to your scalp , while you gently massage it . It works wonder 😊😊 also, do not forget to put some oil at the ends and the length of the hair, but not to much. It you tend to put to much oil, the scalp/ hair will not absorve it and it also can cause hair fall because it is too heavy for your hair. Thanks for this video and this accurate info 💗💗

The best oil I've ever found for low porosity hair is grapeseed oil. It's my holy grail! I have high density, medium thick, low porosity hair and an oily, dandruff prone scalp. So when I oil my hair I only put it from my chin, down. I never go higher. I find if I put oils near my scalp at all I either end up getting dandruff or my scalp is an absolute oil slick the day after washing the oil out, even if I shampoo 2+ times. Hopefully this info helps others with a similar hair/scalp type.

I also use curly hair styling products and i’ve been oiling my hair for years. You don’t need to wash it out beforehand. I use oils on dry hair and gently detangle with my fingers then i let it soak in for as long as i have time for. Don’t worry about every single tangle or you will end up pulling hair out by accident. For those with non-straight hair, it’s better to detangle (gently!) in the shower with conditioner because it is more fragile when dry. The oil doesn’t have to be perfectly coated, just try to make it as evenly dispersed through your hair as you can while being gentle and not tugging. Let it sit for as long as possible, minimum 20-30 mins, and use a heat cap if you have one (i don’t always do this step, you can also heat the oil beforehand by letting it sit in hot water or rubbing it in your hands). Then i either use a gentle shampoo (sulfate free) twice or i clarify. If you use a lot of curly hair products, and oil your hair, it’s very easy to get build up so clarifying regularly is super important for the health of your hair as well as keeping your waves/curls defined and not weighed down. Always use a deep conditioner after clarifying. Oiling my hair has helped me immensely with damage, hair shedding, hair growth, and wave/curl definition. Also, it’s a great idea to use a drop or 2 of oil to scrunch out the crunch or separate curls once your hair is dry (especially if u get a gel cast from products). It helps soften and protect your hair from things like humidity and wind. Lmk if u have any questions!

My hair is very straight, totally like yours, and it's naturally silky and smooth. but as i grew older, the silkiness is almost gone. But only on top of the hair it's gone. not the below layers. I am guessing it's because the top layer of the hairs are exposed more so they get damaged more? how do I managed them and avoid damaging them? please reply :(

There are different types of oils that people put on the hair before or after. You can do a heavier amount before showering/washing out hair. It is common as well to put oil on the hair after washing as well to decrease frizz and flyaways.

If you feel like you need to wash more often than 1-2x/week, you could try co-washing (conditioner-washing)! You'll find tons of how-tos from curly hair creators. Curlsmith has an awesome co-wash. Your hair definitely doesn't have to be curly to use it! My favorite thing about co-washing is that when my hair is healthy I can use it as basically a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner. You'll still need to use a regular shampoo at least once a week to avoid dullness and frizz from product build-up.

and the occasional clarifier followed by a balanced moisturizing : strengthening mask. Using some heat with the mask helps. Also prepoos like oil or Ayurvedic herb pack or just a conditioner before you shampoo can help with any damage that shampooing might cause. I personally love to play mixologist and make my own. It is ok to wash your hair. IMO no reason to stretch it beyond a week. The scalp needs to be clean with no buildup on it. If your hair is longer you can tie it loose in back and just wash your scalp in the sink. Protective styling helps. As long as nothing is tied up to tight.

The way to avoid too much oil on hair: Take only 1 table spoon oil only and it should be enough for your scalp.. if you still feel some areas are dry then you can add half a table spoon more.. and mostly focus on your scalp only.. remember healthy scalp= healthy hair.. When you're done with scalp you can take a little amount of oil on your palm and rub it with both of your hands and then apply it to your ends.. then start massaging your scalp for 10-15 minutes.. when you're done just comb your hair and braid it or use a clutcher to secure it..Oil will spread all over your hair on its own.. that's how you avoid oiling too much..

Angielski A better way to wash off the oil is to emulsify it with conditioner. You need to rinse off the excess oil with warm water, then apply the conditioner and leave it on for at least 10 to 15 minutes (you can use it longer for better results, preferably under a shower cap) and then use the shampoo.
