This was a very helpful video, and based on now understanding the root problem of back parts and cowlicks in general, that the hair is leaning in the opposite direction we want it to, I experimented with training my hair to lean the way I want when I sleep. At night, I find the back part cowlick and put it into the split it is comfortable in. Then I take the right half and pull it left, and the left half and pull it right, and create two pig tails that literally tightly pull the hair in the direction I want it to go. The next morning I did not have a problem with the cowlick split or back part. I think if I keep doing this each night, it will be like braces or retainers on the teeth, it will keep it trained to fall right. I could "make it" go back into the split again, but it was much easier to get it to cooperate. To keep it in its new corrected position, I added some Aveda dry shampoo powder and really rubbed that in and then ran my brush left and right across the split for a bit of a back combing effect, and then gave it a spritz with hair spray. Finally I feel confident that my hair is not going to revert back into a back split again during the day!

This works great! I’ve always had this problem plus thin, fine baby hair and came across a very simple method recently that works amazingly well. Style your hair the way you usually do and take your hair brush and place it at the top of where your hair begins splitting and holding your brush horizontally, gently yet firmly move your brush back and forth without lifting the brush. This tangles the hair at the root and keeps it from separating! Spray a lite coat of hair spray and you are good to go!

I have tried this method in the past and it works for a good part of the day but not really longer than that. Love this tip! My sister and I were just talking about this the other day! My three sisters and I all have this back part and it's stubborn, and I never new how to deal with it. I can't wait to try this, thank you!
By far the best video that I have found ! You don’t waste anytime, just straight to let us know how to get rid of that part. I hate mine. I have searched and searched videos and this is the best out there! Thanks so much and I will be trying it
i love watching and trying your and others hair tutorials a lot, but this is by far the most beneficial tutorial for me to date. Thank you sooooo much. It looks as if you spent along time redoing the whole head of hair instead of just one part.
Thank you for posting this. I’ve been going crazy trying to fix this problem. I will give this a try in the morning!
Your hair videos are the best. You think of everything!
This is SOOO helpful! I always have trouble with my back part, so I can't wait to try this out. Thanks so much!!!
My “back part” is so bad on 2nd hair days!! Thank you so much for this!
Love your straightforward, calm way of explaining. Am now subscribed :)
I have been navigating through KZread for a couple of weeks searching a fix for that issue......I had teased my hair but differently....THANK YOU THANK YOU AND THANK YOU.
Oh man, that is exactly something I needed to know!!! Chronic problem for my hair!! Nicely done! blessings....
This is a problem I struggle with for YEARS! I have to try it! Thank you so much!!! Nice greetings from Germany.
I’m so glad I found this video. I havent had to deal with this problem any except for recently pretty much every day. I swore I thought I was going bald back there😂Thank you so much
I am really enjoying your videos! It's great to see someone who has the same coloring as myself, so I can know what'll look good on me as well! Seems like it's rare to see any very fair ladies doing beauty videos... So thanks, and keep up the great work!
This is so helpful! I have a double crown and have struggled with this issue my whole life!!!
this was so helpful..i've been searching for so long for a tutorial like this one. because of my thin hair i'm wearing tape extensions. because of the parting they have always shown through. again thank you very very much!
I have been trying to fix this myself for years! I tried your suggestion and omg, this works! Thank you so much!!
Omg god bless you, I really struggle fixing my double crown everyday and this has been a huge help
Can't wait to try this!!! I've been dealing with this back part for years!
this is so helpful. this has been happening to me for the longest time and i never knew of a fix until now!
Finally someone who knows how to fix this. Thanks
Oh my goodness I'm so glad I found you🤗. Thank you for your technique. I'm going to try it now.
I have this problem every single day of my life. I can't wait to try this. Thanks so much for this tip!

My hair has only started doing this recently and this is the first time I've looked for advice as to how to sort it, so thank you, it's a really good and simple tip!
Thanks so much for this! I always thought I was the only one having this "problem".... :-)
I can't thank you enough! I have a cowlick right at the crown and it always splits in the center making it look as though my hair is thinning. I was about to get a perm and layers so that it would it disguise the part! I'm so happy I found your channel today. Thank You!
Thank you soooo much for this video, I struggle with the same problem and I only teased that section but it didnt last all day long. This was a great help!!
Thank you!!!!!!! I struggle with this problem, so I'll be trying this tomorrow! THANK YOU!!!!!
the dreaded part. what a great tip Kate thanks for this one. Love watching your videos. I have bangs that just want to go all different ways and not sure how to counteract that. thanks.
Thank you!!! I’m not sure why my hair started doing this but I hate wearing it down now because of this. Now I can fix it!
So glad I watched this. I would never have thought to hold the flat iron facing that way! I ve been doing this wrong for 50 years lol.
I was looking for this kind of video for ages. Thank you 🙏
Great tip. I struggle with this nearly all the time. I've discovered what also works well to stop this happening so often is to brush my hair when damp in the direction I want it to be after styling and then just let it air dry in that position.

I wish this worked for me! I wet my part, then brush in the opposite direction, but it only slightly helps. It works better with a hair dryer, but even that doesn’t fully work. The straight iron didn’t work for me either, but I may try it again!
Awesome tip! I've just started curling my hair in loose waves (I have long hair) with my flat iron.... Been battling the dreaded back part. Now I know how to fix it :-)
I’m going to try this with the cowlick at the crown. It spreads and flattens when I sleep. This looks like I’ve been flat ironing the wrong way. Thanks so much for the tip!
Omg!!! I am so glad you did this video! Thanks a million!
I love your tips! Thank you for making your videos :)
I love this tip! Trying it tomorrow! Quick fix request: putting hair up in a ponytail without it looking too slicked back but not completely falling out/messy (I have thin fine hair)

I have super fine hair and would love a video on this! I like doing ponytails, but sometimes they just appear too slicked down and flat.
I have side swept bangs and they are always getting piecey and separated throughout the day. How can I keep them from looking blah?
It really works. Easy and quick. Thank you very much for sharing
So glad to found this my back part goes so far down and is so wide actually looks like I've got a bold patch I will definitely be trying this out!
You don't even know how much I wanted to find a video like this!!!!! I have this problem and I hate it. I try teasing it and everything and it doesn't work so maybe the flat iron with the tease will do the trick! Thank you :)
Thank you!!!!! I needed this, I always have this issue bad on day 2 hair.
Thank you so much! I struggle with this all the time and teasing alone doesn't always do the trick.
Ah this was so helpful! This happens to me all the time! Thanks for making this video.
Thanks for the tip!!! I always have a back part. Hopefully this will work for me!
omg...I'm SO happy I found this; I've been dealing with this issue since I starting curling my hair!
That was so simple and AMAZING!!!
Omg thanks so much!!! Back part is the #1 reason I don’t wear my hair down.
I know this is an old vid, but just found it and can’t believe I’ve never searched a cowlick fix before. This worked like magic. I’ve unnecessarily washed my hair to get rid of the dreaded back part.
Any thoughts on this if you have super fine hair? I find when I try to cover the cowlicky spot, I just create a part next to it because I am pulling the hair over to cover and I just don't have alot of it. You have thick hair so you may not have to deal with this, but maybe some advice?

This post is 6 years old but maybe I can help. I have the same problem and I use a little bit of root spray and it does a great job camouflaging the part

I use my eyebrow pencil and fill in the line at my part so if (of course I mean when) it starts to split back to it’s natural part it isn’t so obvious. I should add that I have brown hair and use a brown pencil.

@@dsmith199 : clever idea ! Thanks 🙏 or thinking of that sort of help maybe the Batiste colour dry shampoo spray ? Might try that too 👍

Brilliant. I use eye shadow. If you can’t see the white color of the scalp, it doesn’t matter if it parts there does it? The eye shadow will also make your hair look thicker
Thank you so much! I've always struggled with my part going too far back!
I have to comment twice because I'm so freaking happy! I can't wait to try this!
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME! Thank you!!
Thank you for this!! So simple but so helpful
Thank you for this short powerful video so many videos that required weird products! Thank you again I'm going to try this!
OMG, It worked! I have long thick, wavy hair but thin spot back top. I hate it! This helps a lot! THANK YOU!
Loved this! I just cut my hair short on Monday n had keratin applied to it, I can't wash or style til Thursday 😳💇 these tips will b helpful, I can't wait to loosely curl it on Friday!! 😊
Hi Kate! Thank you for this fix, it will be a great help! I have a problem with a colic in my bangs! How do I get them to lay flatter and have a softer side swept look?
Thank you! I keep waking up with a stupid part in the back. Couldn’t get rid of it. I hate it. I’ve tried to fix it many times with no luck. I hate when I arrive home after being out all day and see that part peeking through again. Lol! I’m going to try this today.
I thought I was alone on the struggle bus of the back part, but it's nice to know there's way to fix it :)
im so jealous of your hair!! lol it holds a curl and tease so easily. lucky girllll
I love your hair! I'm so jealous
Thanks! This is such an easy fix and I'll have to try it next time that happens.
Such a good tip! Thanks for all your great videos!! What about for hair with layers where one side perfectly curves under and the other side flips out.
I always have this problem! Thanks so much for making this video :-)
I always struggle with this issue, will try, looks easy. Thank you❤🤗
Thank you for this!! So simple but VERY helpful TYFS
This is genius! I was resigned to live with this issue until this video.
Thank you for this! I have this problem a lot when I curl my hair!
Thank you so much for this!!! I have this issue times two lol... dang double crowns! Definitely will try this out :)
thk u for posting! i randomly googled back part in hair (thinking i would never find anything…yet knew i couldn’t be the only one!) since i’m trying to wash my hair less…but in the AM when checking out the back view in mirror …noticed this gawd-awful part!! blah!! look forward to trying this :)
Thanks so much! Can't wait to give this a try!
Thank you SO much!! I get so self concious about this part, especially since my hair is dyed blonde and the roots are darker, it looks so stupid 🙄 i cannot wait to try this, again thank you so so so much
Subbed...because we have same hair length. Thanks for the tips to cover that back line.
Thank you!! Mine also is natural and so frustrating. I will try this today
Yay, I like this hair fix! Here's a request - how to fix hair mini parts forming on day 2 hair when pulling into a ponytail.

I second this request!
I have this problem as well, so much to the point where I’m self-conscious about it all the time. I have tried this method in the past and it works for a good part of the day but not really longer than that. I even sleep with a claw clip holding the two parts together so that it trains the direction of my hair to stay together but even after years it doesn’t work. I have given up on a permanent fix for this and have just accepted that I can only temporarily fix it, until they part again (half a day later) 🤣
Brilliant! I have this problem whenever I curl my hair, thanks x
I can't wait to try this technique!! Thank you so much! I cannot seem to get my hairstylist to cut my hair to get a good crown lift...would you call that crown layering? My previous hairstylist knew how but I hate to leave my current one. By the way....Your hair style is super cute, too!
This is great for most ladies! Having alopecia is such a bummer!
Awesome ★★★ Thank you for sharing with us !
Thanks! You are so pretty!
Hate when this happens! Thanks for the tip, Kate!
