With the Haines Hunter Project nearly coming to a close. I thought it's about time to head right back to the start and document the rebuild from day one. This rebuild series will be put out over 4 parts. This was a complete DIY rebuild, I have never rebuilt a boat before and until I test run the Haines Hunter with the new motor I had never even used this boat!

    Yess! Looks shmick, Im one of those sick fks that watched 10% of the spearing and 100% of the boat building. I started mine 2 years ago, moved 1500kms, mid house rennos right now and this channel is the motivation i needed to get stuck back into it! Cheers!

    I know really basic. But it would be great to maybe do a basic glassing video. Like 5 things you need to know to rebuild a boat. 1. Tabbing stringer/floor 2. Bogging, 3. Glass lay up in different places e.g structural and non-structural 4. Cutting stringer or bulkhead first time correctly using correct measurements and tips 😂 5. Fairing the outside of a hull the right way in detail

    NICE👌💯 I’m just pulled a project 2004 Haines 5.6 bow rider into the shed 🤔🥺🙄 now that I’ve had a proper look, I really don’t know how the great chunk of motor hadn’t fallen off long before now😳 there is no real structural integrity , to how it was originally made🤬🤬🤬 I’m thinking that squaring the whole back off and building a pod with dive boarding platform and proper ladder may be the go. I think I’ll get a few people to have a look before I go mad with any power tools😇

    The reason your foam didn't work so good was hand mixed,, needs to be stirred using drill and mixer, fast and for about 45 seconds

  • @ExhaleAdventures

    @ExhaleAdventures

    7 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the info mate. Back when I did it I actually did use a stirrer on the cordless for the bigger pours in the main stringer section. There was definitely still inconsistency in the mix when the weather was less favourable. A lot larger bubbles when I did test runs in high humidity.

  • @Rivighi

    @Rivighi

    7 ай бұрын

    @@ExhaleAdventures the inconsistency only comes from not mixing long enough, incorrect part a and b. Raining outside doesn't really stuff it up that much how I know been using that foam for 20 years, I did like the grind job you did it was spot on

    Hi mate, any chance of doing a rundown on the build cost? I’m in Melbourne about to finish a caravan Reno and would like to know if a boat is my next project. Thank you for all the details on the boat re build, really nice work

  • @ExhaleAdventures

    @ExhaleAdventures

    5 ай бұрын

    Thanks for the question mate. I’ve got most of the costings there. My rebuild was basically starting from scratch, including tooling and full fit out. If you have or can find something that already has a decent motor and electrics and just requires a rebuild. This is definitely they way to go about it financially at least. I have planned to do a bit of a list up and throw it into a vid, I might move it up the priority ladder a bit and get it out sooner rather than later haha.

    All good, I don’t think I did mention it. Cabosil and resin bog, and while it was still wet I tabbed them in over top of the bog. Did a full layup over top of that again.

  • @slow_diver
    @slow_diver8 ай бұрын

    When you do the four glass lay up where stringers or bulkheads are going. Is that underneath the thermolite, then you glass from hull over stringer to other side hull? So a sort of bottom glass then top glass of each subfloor component? Or is it just the latter?

  • @ExhaleAdventures

    @ExhaleAdventures

    8 ай бұрын

    Yeah that’s right mate, 4 layers layup went down first and then the stringers were bogged tabbed and then 4 layers up and over the stringers as well
