You had me at the beginning...then after you started criticizing some of the things of Haikyuu that everyone else instead praises...seriously,Haikyuu is called Hypekyuu by the fans for a reason...it has people on the edge of their seat the entire time..what the hell are you talking about? Also...matches out of nowhere? Dude they had to play Aoba Josai for three times before they could win "officially" and Datekou was foreshadowed more than 8 episodes before actually meeting them... Karasuno has no rivalry except Nekoma? What about Seijou?? What about Shiratorizawa that has been hyped up ever since the first season? Not all rivalries have to center around the main character, especially in a more realistic show like HQ that doesn't have the rest of the cast revolving around them...Oikawa is seen by Kageyama for ages as a rival, but Oikawa has had his eyes set on beating Ushijima at least once in his lifetime for 6 years...and in the end loses without a chance to avenge himself for the last time. We all have to remind ourselves that most of the characters in Hq have a much more HEALTHY, FRIENDLY,RIVALRY,unlike those of knb that, had it not been a sport anime, would have been at each other troaths at every chance (and...well...one got close to it...),I mean...the world is not ending if you lose?!?!?. Nekoma is a really strong school that creams Karasuno every time they have a match, does that mean they won't also be friends off the court? Hinata texts Kenma regularly,Kuroo teaches Blocking 101 to Tsukki at training camp,Hinata and Aone become bow buddies after Datekou is defeated... uoa,can you believe it? They almost seem like human beings!! But again, what did I expect from someone that pretends to compare two series while also hating on one of them? And i had such high hopes for this video...*sighs* Please note that i love Kuroko with all my heart, even more deeply than Hq since i actually followed the knb manga from when it only had 6 chapters available up to the end (yes, more than 5 years of commitment..) and all of it's characters are dear to me in ways that most other spokon won't be able to replicate...but i'm not blind to it's fault, it's the product of a literal beginner's luck, the author was really inexperienced in a lot of things at the start...i bet if he could rewrite it all the story would be COMPLETELY different with the new experience he got in all these years (you just need to compare the first chapter to one of the lasts...HOly SHIt),so please try to see my point of view.

  • @Animely0

Also you're contradicting yourself so many times in this video... How can you accuse Haikyuu of developing only a couple of people per team...when the whole *POINT* of Kuroko is to focus on only two characters for each team? Can you tell me the name of any other character other than the gom and ONE teammate for each of them (Aomine doesn't even have that)? I bet the casual fan can't (I'm not a casual fan, yet i can't remember for the life of me the names of Yosen team, except obviously for Murasaki and Himuro),now, in Nekoma, you all remember Kuroo and Kenma, after thinking about it,you remember that,OH RIGHT,Lev is also from Nekoma right? (If you are a fan you remember also Yaku,Inuoka, that always gets forgotten even though he got a bit more spotlight,Taketora and Shibayama), Let's go to Seijou.. well obviously Oikawa right? And his best friend of a lifetime, ace of the team Iwaizumi right? OH and the mad dog right? AHAHA that crazy dude also go a lot of spotlight even tought he is from an enemies team right? And who was that even crazier dude that slammed him into a wall?Mmmmh...(it's Yahaba, also future captain, just so you know),oh,and weren't two of Kageyama's old teammates also there? Turnip Head and Lazy Dude? (Kindaichi and Kunimi) How many of them were actually developed... oh right, ALMOST ALL OF THEM??!?! Now,i'm not saying that knb doestn't develop as much his enemies team (except i'm totally saying that),but let's look at the fact,i like Tohou, but how many of you remember Imaiyoshi or Sakurai? And that team has some of the most interesting characters overall... Seriously except Rakuzan, that is all made of important and memorable characters (I'd expect no less from the final boss) ,how many people do you remember outside of the "Duo" of every team?. But generally speaking, how can you even start to draw a comparisons between series that have only the sport element in common? Ok at the beginning knb goals seem to match those of Hq,but as the story goes on and we learn more about all the shit the GoM did in middle school,it becomes crystal clear that at least Kuroko's goal from the very beginning was to "redeem" his old teammates, and to do so he dragged along Kagami.Winning the Winter Cup was a "collateral effect" you could say.We also can't draw a comparison on the general plot,or theme because one is finished, all it's points tied up and good to go,but Karasuno (if you watch the anime) still has to get on the nationals or (if you read the manga) still has to play in it. Can we talk about how much of an asspull Kyoshi is? Seriously, the author at some point realized that to have a *Reason* to win *right now* as opposed to next year he had to create drive-drama in a school with only at max second years in it,and here comes Kyo and his Uncrowned kings crew... (don't misunderstand me though,i love Kyoshi and especially Hanamiya to death...)(Sorry for this final rant, just had to get it off my chest)

Ricky Tripp Oh yes I already saw that video some weeks ago, didn't know it was the same person, honestly now that I know it only makes me more confused as to why someone like him that had to try for like 3 three times to get into Haikyuu went and made a video about it,comparing it to an anime that he actually liked,I really don't get the reason. He found the characters boring and the plot uninteresting and unoriginal,I'm really surprised he actually finished it seeing the other video he made about it (or did he finish it? Because some of the stuff he said made me wonder...). I'm sorry, but I won't accept a comparison if it's not made by someone that actually appreciates both animes and understand the differences and sees pros and cons of BOTH,not just Haikyuu. (Maybe it was me,but I saw a lot of bias towards knb). I would love to actually do a video myself about the argument, because it's something that has been on my mind a lot, the differences and the similarities of these two animes are so interesting and make a really compelling argument, but unfortunately I don't have neither the ability nor the equipment to do it myself, that's why this video was such a letdown... I finally thought someone had made the video *I* wanted to make for the longest time and then he says these things...

I feel like you’ve kind of missed the entire point of Haikyuu. Because you said that the antagonists doesn’t get any development, when it’s what the series is built upon. The entire point of Haikyuu is the characters and their own struggles, including the opposing teams. Throughout all of Haikyuu you see the motivations of everyone and what drives them, even teams that doesn’t even matter in the long run, and that’s why the show is so great imo. Also, Haikyuu handles the female cast a lot better than KnB, because they aren’t just super sexy characters there as eye candy and have their own motivations outside of the team’s.

I have no idea what I’m doing with my life yes I just I could not do knb The characters do have a more generic “bishie/ikemen” cast than haikyu imo But that aside...idk when they got to the games they felt so long and boring In haikyu, even the long running games kept me invested and on the edge my seat and I could get very into it I like the sense of comedic relief and the character dynamics of haikyu more as well Knb was ok but tbh it felt more like cliche anime in certain aspects...idek what to call it but it’s less appealing to me 🤷🏻‍♀️ Haikyu imo does great with its characters Even lesser characters are lovable, as for they other teams...it’s hard not to root for them too Everyone has their own struggles regardless of what team it is Winners vs losers, it’s super hype for the winners but it’s a sad time for the losers Even if it’s not our main focus team Karasuno, you cannot help but feel sad for the opposing team I’m not even interested in sports but haikyu keeps me invested Tbh there’s a newer anime ahiru no sora, which has similar dynamics imo, but it’s not the same level of hype to me as haikyu but I still enjoy it It’s basketball tho and I definitely prefer it over knb

Neither does particularly well with the female characters. But, well, they are sports anime featuring a male team sport, so no surprise there. I am even interested in the training arcs in Haikyuu.

I agree with your main point but also KnB's females aren't just super sexy characters there as eye candy either. While Momoi might fill that spot, Riko takes on a much more active role as the team's coach. There's also Kagami's mentor Alexandra Garcia and Yosen's female coach, who really can't be counted as "eye candy" either. Of course, the females are more fleshed out in Haikyuu, but it's not as if the females in KnB are just flat either.

Iman Afandy man people can like or dislike whatever they want. Here, I’ll list a couple: - The first fuckin episode where Hinata goes to spike even though their team is losing by 20 points - Karsuno v Date Tech (especially Asahi vs the iron wall) - Every time Hinata and Kageyama do an insane quick - Oikawa nearly receiving Hinata’s spike but Karasuno takes the win season 2 - Every time Oikawa or Ushijima serves - Karasuno’s win against Shiratorizawa and going to nationals - All of Bokuto’s line shots - Hinata learning how to read volleyball and using his position as a ball boy to become better at receiving But even if I list this and you don’t like Haikyuu, that’s okay because everyone has their own opinion. I just hope you don’t shit on other people for liking something you don’t.

I think Haikyuu handled their female characters WAY better than KnB. They didn't fill in important roles like a coach, but they weren't a joke. Momoi and Alexandra were mostly just there for 1) fanservice and 2) help the male characters. In the story, Yachi didn't just help the other characters when she created an advertisement to find a sponsor, the club helped HER find her passion and confidence. She's also very cute, and is never told she has to be sexy by the other characters (unlike what they did with Riko).

It's just not as engaging. KnB is fun to marathon through because of the cliffhangers and high stakes in the matches, but Haikyuu feels more SoL-ish and slower. The beginning episodes of Haikyuu were really uninteresting too, which made it harder to get 'hyped' about the series overall.

Vandel Vlogs I feel like in Haikyuu, with the way they animate it, the main characters just seem so fucking cool when they do their super fast quick spike. In KnB, all the cool stuff just seems so surreal to me. Basically what KnB lacks in realism and that brings down the hype of individual plays for me, compared to haikyuu which has amazing individual plays especially from Hinata but also occasionally other characters. Overall, I'd say KnB vastly exceeds haikyuu in building hype but Haikyuu does well in making hype happen on the spot with no real build up. (as i think he said in the video)

Also as a player he had to depend on Kageyama, so he didn't have the chance to fend for himself. Hinata never became an Ace because of his height and so he gave up on the idea of being like the "little giant" and became the "ultimate lure" or the "shojo ninja". Most of the non-underdogs get the things they want in the end but Hinata didn't get what he wanted but rather adapted to how life made it and tried to experiment in other areas to grow. The fact that he is physically gifted does not automatically make him the ideal athlete, especially in a sport that depends so much on height. There are very few players like Hinata, Hoshiumi and the "little giant" who make it far because most of the Haikyuu characters are tall. He just thinks that individually Hinata will never beat Ushijima but with a team he can do it. Why is that? Because Hinata will always be at a disadvantage because of his height.

Haikyuu is the only anime I’ve really watched that made me feel bad for the other teams to loose and watching Tsukis blocking of Ushijima and having Bokuto (an opposing ace from a opposing team) having his voice saying how a single moment that’s Epic will have you hooked on the sport is just so satisfying to see him grow as a person and I love the opposing teams especially Bokuto, Kurro, And Oikawa and Iwaizumi. So I think it’s not true that the other teams get much development. It’s not true because Kemma and Hinata have become good friends texting each other and Kurro and Daichi having that to rivalry and For Nekoma get Lev, Yaku, Kurro, Kenma, and its always funny to watch them interact.

I liked Haikyuu for one big reason that you didn't mention. Haikyuu lets us learn about Volleyball as a sport, where Kuroko no Basket fails to tell us much about Basketball. The plays they make in Haikyuu are all very fleshed out, and they're all very real. But in Kuroko No Basket, we don't really get much of that. They instead show us a guy who can see anything on the court without looking.

This really wasn't a fair comparison. And I feel like you missed the point of the lack of true antagonists in Haikyuu. Seriously, it was spelled out in a s1 episode! Karasuno are the protagonists of Haikyuu, but in the other teams' stories, THEY are the protagonists, whether they win or lose. In the end, every single character are all just dorks who love volleyball with all their hearts, whatever their reasons may be, whatever team they're a part of. Part of Haikyuu's appeal to so many people is that it doesn't just focus on the emotions of one team. When Karasuno whens, it makes you feel so proud of these boys of course, but also so sad for the opposing team. That's part of what draws so many people in.

I think you miss understood what I he meant. I think he meant that Kuroko no Basket set the opponents that they had to face from the beginning, and the whole time when you're watching the series you were waiting for those matches which generated a lot of hype. At least that's what I'm pretty sure he meant. And that's not saying that Haikyuu!! doesn't generate hype, hell no! Haiykuu!!! has a crap ton of hype!!! But speaking of the point I mentioned earlier it is true that in Haikyuu!!! you're discovering who is there to face so In my opinion the hype isn't there before we know who to face because we don't even know who to get hyped for! Now that's not correct for the later part of the series because we get introduced to Neko and the other teams but sadly that's for season 4 which wasn't released at the time of this video. Also I as I was saying the hype isn't there before BUT the hype get blown away inside the matches. Now for Kuroko the hype was set from the very beginning of the series, and when I was watching I couldn't wait to get to see those characters who were hyped up a lot actually play! So basically I think there's a difference between "Having hype" and "Generating Hype" or at least that's how I think of it x). I hope you get what I mean, and btw i love both series and I think they're so good in their own ways and everybody should watch both :D Also another thing that has to be mentioned is that Haikyuu!!! is not done yet! So we still have a lot to see and I'm really excited for this new season! I hope you have a good day or night! Sorry for the long reply, thanks for reading and have a good one (>^w^)/ ~!!!

⚠️THIS SLIGHTLY BIASED, also take this from the POV of a person who has actually played volleyball before and spent a few days studying Haikyuu and how each scene was delivered and what made each character so appealing⚠️ First of all, Haikyuu’s characters are supposed to look like kids. They’re HIGHSCHOOLERS not 30 yr old men. Of course the characters are going to look different when compared to adults (age wise). Secondly, Haikyuu does give enough time to focus on the opposing teams and it does not have only one memorable team. If you paid attention to Haikyuu, you would’ve noticed the foreshadowing with Dateko and Shiratorizawa. Nekoma is not the most important/relevant opposing team as there are others emphasized as much as Nekoma (Seijoh, Fukurodani, Shiratorizawa, Dateko). And although some teams receives more screen time than others, it’s to emphasize how difficult it is to beat the certain team or how long the match has been going on for. Volleyball doesn’t have a time limit and matches can take more than 1 hour. Third of all, each character in Haikyuu!! Does not have only one ability. If this were true Karasuni would’ve lost every match by now. Although it may seem as if each character can only do one thing in the beginning this is not rue, it’s just that they each have certain things that they are more capable of doing (Kageyama-setter, Hinata-spiker) Nevertheless, they still find ways to overcome this and gain more abilities as the show goes on. (Like how Hinayana gets better at receiving and blocking. The main focus of Haikyuu is not only the realism with the sport, but also the relationships between characters and their development. In the video it was mentioned that it feels like each character improves because of others, which makes sense, because it’s a VOLLEYBALL anime, one of the team sports that puts a big Emphasis on the word TEAM. Haikyuu has even addressed how you only truly feel alone when you’re going to serve, because that’s the only part of the game in which nobody can help you. Fourthly, haikyuu’s visual metaphors are not lacking, and they are very well made, because they are METAPHORS, they’re not showing what’s actually happening, they’re just comparing. For example the crows versus the cats, this is referring to Karasuno (mascot-crows) vs Nekoma (mascot-cats) as they fight for the win, or as in the metaphor, the garbage can. However, knb’s visual metaphors are just there to show how fast a ball was passed or the intensity a character is feeling, which is something Haikyuu can pull off without using metaphors but rather relying on the facial expressions and the animation for when the ball hits the floor (EX-Oikawa’s serve). Fifth of all, what do you mean Haikyuu doesn’t have any hype?! There’s a reason why it has the nickname “Hypekyuu”! The way the anime handles the scenes with most intensity are executed in a way in which the watcher can feel what the characters are going through and it feels almost like watching a real volleyball match. You may have thought the hype was underwhelming bc you were comparing it to an anime that does not go by realistic measures and defies anything an actual person can do. Also, Haikyuu does have many backstories which are intertwined. For example, Asahi and Nishonoya’s and how Asahi was the reason Nishinoya wouldn’t get back into volleyball and why the third years weren’t as motivated with volleyball when the Freshmen first showed up. Another example could be the reason why Oikawa and Kageyama always try to improve is because of their experiences with each other in middle school, and how Oikawa hated Kags bc he was naturally gifted but Okinawa had to work hard to be called an expert setter that gives his team mates their desired sets. Lastly, the reason why Haikyuu is so good overall is because of how engaging each of the characters are. They each have a backstory that shaped them each into who they are now, and they all go through some form of character development, whether it be getting better at serving or finally getting a taste for the game, which is the overall reason why Haikyuu has so many fans. The characters truly feel human, and they each have their own personality which is what distinct from other characters. Edit: I DIDNT NOTICE THE NUMBER OF LIKES THIS GOT WOW,, TY EVERYONE WHO ACTUALLY READ THIS!!

Meanwhile KNB is *unrealistic super power high school sport club who have this zone power with ikemen faces and in the end the protagonist or good team will won and of course the fangirls will choose ikemen faces over anything* I totally choose realistic story of the high school boys team (who in this story about a school team vs another school team) rather than super power high school boys with ikemen faces (who in this story about a good protagonist teams vs another evil antagonist team which is so unrealistic) I mean I'm on the other side before, (was KNB fans who adore the Kiseki no Sedai's ikemen faces) but when I watch Haikyuu, it hits me hard with their realistic high school sport story. @riontorque1414

    7 жыл бұрын

Actually, there's no mention of Hinata learning to jump higher in the manga or anime. The manga even has a mini chapter recording everyone's numbers and Hinata's hasn't changed that much. His character development is instead tracked by how much he learns of the game. It's not obvious on first viewing, but every time Hinata learns a new aspect of volleyball (for example learning the normal quick spike in addition to the freak quick) it accompanies a shift in his perspective of his play style and, to an extent, how he relates to his teammates as well as his opponents. In this particular case, it shifts Hinata's initial purely instinct play style, by introducing to him and element of strategy and thought. That it was explained and taught by Sugawara also marks a point where Kageyama and Hinata start learning to account for the players around them. This trend continues to build in the background through Yamaguchi's and Tsukishima's respective arcs, and coming to a head in their game with Aoba Johsei. Unlike in KnB, Haikyuu's character developments put a great emphasis on this sense of "being there" between the audience and the players on screen. It's tracked by their learning new moves definitely, but those moves aren't the development in and of themselves, only sign posts to tell the viewers "Hey play a little more attention. Something is happening."

First of all, you didn't even finish all three seasons of Haikyuu so I don't think you really have the authority to compare it to KnB. Secondly, because you didn't finish it, you didn't see that female characters are actually really really important in Haikyuu's story line. Thirdly, even though they're the same genre, they're actually of different type in the sports manga genre. KnB is more like Tennis no Ooji Sama, where there's superpowers and unrealistic moves involved. Haikyuu is more like Captain Tsubasa and Slam Dunk, there's no superpowers involved. So it's really unfair to compare these two. Lastly, I finished both KnB and Haikyuu, and while I enjoyed KnB while I watched it, it did not make me wanna go back to it again and again, it did not create a memorable spot in my brain. But for Haikyuu, after I finished it I went strait to the manga and finished it, still reading new episodes every week. I re-watched the anime 5 times already, but never got bored of it, and was always hyped af. So no KnB is not better in my opinion, and it's totally not fair to compare these two, do your research, actually finish the series, and then criticize, please.

Tbh I think it all depends on someone’s taste. I personally liked Haikyuu better because it’s just normal kids trying to reach their dreams (like you said). There’s already so animes that are over the top and ridiculous. So it was really refreshing. I liked how they actually looked younger which is a nice change from a lot of animes who make their characters look like they’re college students when they’re literally 16. Also, if you read the manga, you can actually see that as time goes on, they get older looking and more fit. You also mentioned that Haikyuu focuses on the main characters more than KnB, but if you had watched a little more of the anime, it explores and shows the struggles and dreams on the other teams/characters. Thats also one reason I liked Haikyuu better too. They don’t antagonize a team and you find yourself rooting for each team. Matches with teams with extensive backstory and development are even more heartbreaking because you don’t want either side to lose. Honestly I’ve never seen an anime where so many of the side characters are so loved as much as the main characters.

This isn't a fair comparison if you're strongly biased to one series. Since Haikyuu 'bore you to tears' you're blinded by your own lack of interest and disregard and miss many parts that make the series great. It shows excruciatingly in this video (and becomes insulting to the fans, as your comments show). It would have been better to just leave this sort of comparison making to someone who enjoys both series. It nearly ends up sounding like you're salty over how much Haikyuu is loved just because you don't get the hype.

Yeah! Honestly, the thing makes most Haikyuu fan salty about this video is that he just biased and clearly didn't have enough interests to explore Haikyuu but he had to go and made this video compare both of these animes when he clearly didn't get through the Haikyuu first. I mean if he just didn't like Haikyuu enough to research fully about it why he made this video? And made them sound like facts? At least laid it as your own opinions dudeeee

Listening to him making those totally unfair comparisons like actually ticked me off. Agreed. Although he really tried to be objective and I commend him for that, but I felt like there was a definite bias in making one show's weakness not look so bad, while placing a particular way of story telling look like a fault when it is simply a preference. It stumped me for a bit there. I only understood when he admitted in the end that he actually preferred one and couldn't even stand the other... in which case. this comparison just became worthless. Something like that should have been stated at the beginning. lol And btw, "Hype" is like another name of Haikyuu. It's the most hyped anime ever tbh...

Yes, I agree! I like KnB but I love Haikyuu!!. These unrealistic skills and the zone in KnB was ridiculous. And Haikyuu!! isn't this dramatic but when I first watched the seasons I was so damn excited and couldn't stop watching. And I have to disagree with digibro, I think it's easier to follow the Haikyuu!! matches and the score is shown very often and I never was unsure who was winning or losing. Moreover there are a lot of backstorys in Haikyuu!! and more than one character trait for each character. Oikawa: womanizer, bad ass player, insecure, caring, ambitious, strategic..., Tsukishima: smart, insecure, cold, sarcastic, music loving..., Kuroo: confident, Smart(ass), caring, sarcastic, leadership personality, funny, silly... I could make long lists for everyone of them. I think I learned a lot more about even the sidecharacters than about the Knb main characters. Because of the asthetics I could never watch Baby Steps, the characterdesign is ugly in my opinion. And Ping Pong is too artsy. @digibro: Big thanks for this vid and your other great vids. Rootyy Yeah, I tend to go for unique animation but realism at the same time. Kuroko just reminded me of other anime with that same look (plus the over the top powers and typical anime "who's the main character" hair colors) while Haikyuu had a different art style that appealed to me. While there are a few characters with questionable hair colors (Sugawara having grey hair and Yamaguchi having green-ish hair) it has a sense of realism and variety like Kenma's hair, Noya's hair wet and down after showers, Asahi having different hair styles for his long hair, etc. Plus, I never really related to the characters in Kuroko; meanwhile, I found myself comparing myself on a personal level to Kenma and Yamaguchi.

I just LOVE the way the characters are so different and varied. I love how different each person's goals are, and how each person responds differently and feels in different situations. I like how different Hinata is from Tsukishima, Yachi, Asahi and many others. I like it how they all have their own weaknesses and strengths. Also, this thing with Yachi; her mother wanted her to become stronger, but Yachi is the type that can get discouraged instead of motivated if she was told that. She's not like Hinata, who is always driven to win, and very tenacious, and that he doesn't really mind how he would appear, as long as he can work hard and always challenge himself to evolve, then he will prove them wrong. However, she was really conflicted whether she should join or not. If it weren't for Shimizu confirming to her that it's OK to not be so passionate about something, and just imply curious in order to start it, and that Hinata pushed her to confront her mother, then she wouldn't have joined. Of course, she also wanted to change herself as well, because she was sick of not being heard and just letting others walk all over her. This whole development happened to Yachi, and she's STILL a supporting character! I also love how each character has different personality, and different stories.

Pfft!!! Haikyuu has no hype? Are you kidding?! Never in my life have I felt more hyped up than during the final deuce-off between Karasuno and Seijoh. I swear to God, those episodes had me staying up until three-four in the morning, clutching at my bed covers in pure excitement, feeling the same adrenaline as the team, and just barely containing the need to cheer along with the Karasuno cheer squad. (Didn't want to wake my family) The absolute elation I felt when the ball finally dropped on Seijoh's side, breaking the deuce, just about brought tears to my eyes. That is the closest moment I have ever had to understanding why people like actual irl sports. The hype was there in *droves*. And the reason for that is because I *cared* about the characters. I wanted to see them win. Because, to me, they deserved every win they could get. They deserved to achieve their dreams, in spite of everyone else's expectations. This show is 100% an underdog story. The very essence of an underdog story is wanting the underdog to win. If you aren't feeling hyped for the characters to win, then either the story has failed to be an underdog story, or you haven't properly connected with the characters, like you were supposed to. Considering you don't like Haikyuu, the fault for not feeling hype doesn't lie with the show. It lies with you. You don't like the story, and you didn't connect with the characters. *That's* why you didn't feel the hype. Because for those who actually like the show, the hype is *very* much there. You're entitled to your opinions. But you have no reliable basis to claim that Haikyuu has no hype. You are simply too biased.

@@kingslayerx1716 I'm not saying anything about KnB. I'm not comparing the two. I'm pointing out why the creator of this video is wrong to say that Haikyuu has no hype. My comment has nothing to do with KnB. I don't care which anime you guys think is "better" or has more hype. I care about the bias of saying a single show has no hype, when the person saying such doesn't even like the show, as a whole, in the first place. And it's subjective. You may think that KnB has more hype moments. But I personally don't. I was never able to get attached to KnB's story enough to feel any hype. It's too unrealistic to me. All I can think is, "that is not how physics work..." and I don't feel hype when I'm focused on that. But I'm not about to say that Haikyuu, as a fact, has more hype, just because that's how it felt to me. Hype is a very subjective thing, based on how an individual reacted to certain events and characters. It's not something you can write down in stone as a fact for everyone. That's the point I'm trying to make. Not only is hype something he can't determine for everyone else, but he is too biased against the show itself to properly say as such. Haikyuu has a lot of hype for the people who actually like the story and want the characters to succeed. End of story. My point had nothing to do with KnB.

As for Baby Steps...I have no idea why everyone loves it so much, I barely managed to get through the 1st episode...actually I don't think I did...The 2 main characters were just so so awful, I could not stand them. I would say in the 2 seasons that has happened 3 or 4 times in total (not main opposing teams). Other than that, I agree. Baby Steps, its pretty average in my opinion. S1 was way better than S2, I could barely stay awake through the 2nd season. As for Chihayafuru, oh man I need a 3rd season. Well fans its prolly because of its very beautiful and well thought out storyline. And its realistic... Story that makes you kind of inspired to do and be like your fave characters its because you can see that their not strong from the start you see the development that would make you rhink that you can do it yourself. I after watchin haikyuu tried playing it despite having a leg injury my left knee particularly. I tried and im kinda good at receiving which makes feel happy because i learned all i knew based on an anime which kinda makes it really cool because you actually literally learned something based of an anime. And it boosts my confidence to although i was always stopped by my mother whenever i tried to play a sport and the fear of experiencing the pain all over again, this actually made me break free from my fear and made my high school life a little bit much better..

I'd love to see an updated version of this video that accounts for A.) whatever the hell is going on with the art style change in Haikyuu (jesus what did they DO with season 4) and B.) the now-completed storyline of Haikyuu. As a big fan of both, I think it's interesting to look at the two side by side. I recently rewatched all of KnB (I hadn't seen S3 or the movie lol) and I'd really like to see more character parallels in a comparison-style video. One thing I wish this video touched on is the fact that literally all of the Generation of Miracles + Kuroko have some form of trauma that's rooted deeply in the fact that they were part of such an outstanding team at Teiko and that they were placed under an obscene amount of pressure. Look at Akashi's father. Look at the way the teachers treated Aomine. Look at the "100 Battles, 100 Victories" school motto. Look at Murasakibara being told he SHOULD play because he was naturally gifted and how burnt out he is. Look at Kise worrying that he'll never be as good as Aomine. KnB is one for those of us who had high expectations placed on us as children and we were never allowed to waver. I'm in love with the way KnB did not magically heal everyone of their traumas but rather showed them on the road to healing from it as they were each eventually defeated by Kuroko. Haikyuu is definitely a lot more of something that appeals to the realm of like, realism, though. And I appreciate that about it. I love the other teams the same way I fell for side characters in KnB. I love that both shows do actually eventually give more depth to the "extras" and the bench warmers as well. One comparison I'll make here is between Yamaguchi and Furihata. They're both very nervous being out on the court, but both their coaches know that despite the fact that they're both anxious on the court, they both have very specific things they bring out. Yamaguchi has an incredible serve he's worked hard on, and Furihata, well...to quote Coach Riko Aida, "cowards are careful." If the pace is too fast and the players are going to exhaust themselves, or if Seirin wants to keep an opponent from walking all over them, Furihata is the lad for the job. They're both excellent shows and I know a lot of us have our preferences one way or another, I really think both are worth checking out. They're similar enough in tone that I think if you like one, you're likely to enjoy the other, and it's normal to have preferences with one over the other. But that said, I do wanna strongly encourage anyone who hasn't checked out KnB to give it a shot (hah, basketball joke). It doesn't get nearly the amount of hype as Haikyuu does and like, again, they're both such GOOD shows. It's worth a watch, I promise. KnB fandom revival p l e a s e

Having read through (too many) comments, its only human to be biased and people need to calm down. I loved haikyuu and tried to watch KnB but couldn’t because the characters felt hollow, but that doesn’t make different opinions invalid. Admittedly, I have trouble seeing how haikyuus characters could be uninteresting, especially since they’re one of the most popular aspects of the show.

Clearly that is a comment that centres around the elitism disgust and bias against, of sports anime that have the qualities of appealing to a female centric audience and the supernatural appearance of a character's abilities. As Kuroko no Basuke contain both these qualities, it would be obvious that you would create an attack on it. While I concur on the idea of the exaggeration of the Generation of Miracles skills, most people would find the idea fun hence the reason why the trope of a "power boost out of no where" has been used consistently through out the Shounen genre that reflects the general desire of young men being able to overcome anything they desire. And even though Kuroko no Basuke is centric around a male heavy cast, it does not mean that most of their moments is directed towards a female audience even though the mangaka may or may not be aware them, his audience is strictly directed towards young men between the ages of 10-18 otherwise his manga wouldn't be released by Shounen Jump. Most sports anime have a male heavy cast anyway because most sports in real life only contain of one gender (some anime examples are: Eyeshield 21, Ookiku Furikabutte, Free!, Prince of Tennis, Baby Steps, Haikyuu!! and Ace of the Diamond), and if there were many girls in them, it would take away the focus of sports or the characters playing the sports. You have heavy homophobic views, and therefore can only see the supposedly overly affectionate moments between the boys rather than seeing a brief scene that reflects their trust or hope (such as D Gray Man), and these type of scenes can be scene between a boy and a girl but is often mistaken for the possibility for romance to fruition. Sports anime are not the only ones that consist of a male heavy cast, plain Shounen anime do this too such as Home Tutor Hitman, One Punch Man, Beelzebub and probably many other Shounen anime who have made it seem like they have many girls in their anime but its actually just the two. Why bother watching the video about something you know you are going to hate?

While they are both sports anime that fall under the Shounen and Slice of Life genres, I feel that KNB has more Shounen elements and Haikyuu has more Slice of Life elements and depending on which genre you like more will determine how you stake them against each other.

if we’re talking favorites, i’d go with kuroko’s basketball all the way, but your bias is strong. kuroko’s basketball has a LOT of parallels to haikyuu, (ex. the touou & seijoh matches) but haikyuu is overall more realistic. in knb they literally have superpowers, like aomine’s zone and akashi’s emperor eye. i’ve watched both series all the way through multiple times and when it comes to character development there’s not at all much general difference. in hq the development is much more outward and apparent, where as in knb the development is much more subtle and never outwardly stated. also going off of what you mentioned about the appearances of the characters, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the important aspects of these shows. it’s literally just a matter of the art styles, it’s not important. but overall both shows are absolutely amazing, and there’s no point in pinning 2 great series against each other just because they both happen to play on a court. multiple logical fallacies does not mean for a valid comparison. :)

I just watched the first 5 episodes and KnB is so boring, the quality, the characters, the way everyone looks the same. I don't even know why I watched it in the first place, I don't even like basketball.

18:46 " RaRely DoeS a gOOd job in sEttiNg FutuRe mAtcheS -" WTF! Bitch there's a whole season 1 behind setting up the match between Seijoh and Karsuno in S2. Date Tech vs Karasuno in s1 was so important because that's where the seniors lost and Asahi almost quit . Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno...dont tell me you didn't see our cute Hinata outright declare WAR against Ushijima in e1 of S2 Nekoma Vs Karasuno has a fucking history which is yet to happen .

18:45 “matches start out of nowhere” “hard time following how well each team is doing” did we even watch the same show?? ishiwaka was introduced a whole season before karasuno faced them, and season two’s whole training arc was building up karasuno’s revenge against seijoh. it’s not the anime’s fault you weren’t paying attention.

I watched both anime around the same time and I prefer Haikyuu by far. KnB only kept me in for the characters (and not even all, I disliked some of those kids lol), but bored me to death with some matches - especially later on. Haikyuu on the other side kept me engaged the entire series; I loved seeing the characters grow, I loved how I started feeling attached to the rival teams and ended up cheering for them as much as for Karasuno, I loved how the matches were just super intense but never overstayed their welcome. KnB has some cool characters (I'd die for Aomine), but as an overall anime Haikyuu just beats it into oblivion for me.

A character who is disliked does not mean they are a bad character. In fact, many times, it is the intention to create an unlikable character, and in that regard, the author succeeded.

I don't really agree with Haikyuu being boring matches with confusion happening. I get pretty invested in those matches. I was screaming at my tv once the matches started lasting more than an episode. I got very invested because of how realistic it was. The way their bodies move, the physics of when they fall at times, the impact, made me hyped. Kuroko no Basuke was so over the top, I didn't get hyped at all during their games. It almost made the show predictable because of it and the over the topness became laughable. The only characters weren't too interesting minus Kuroko meanwhile I was cheering for Tobio and Hinata like crazy.

i remember when i was watching their match vs Aoba Johsai in season two iwas so hooked and invested in what was going on that i felt nervous... to the point where i started sweating... so i disagree with him when he says its hard to tell whats going on... i was also hooked when watching the matches in KnB untill they pulled the zone in zone stunt.....
