As a volleyball player myself, I am amazed by the amazing similarities between the anime and real life volleyball. The only one thing i am suprised about is a 5’2 highschooler with a veritcal that high. Other than that good job! ( i have alr watched the show like 3 times lol) (Edit) God damn bru i didnt expect 2k likes but now i have close to a 30 inch vert nd im considered one of if not the best 13 yo vb player in miami i used to suck booty😭

Reason why haikyuu was beyond good and was live changing and trend making was how realistic it was. It made non volleyball fans love volleyball and it thought fans to even love regular volleyball. Sure they are many sports anime that was good, prince of tennis, inazuma 11, captain tsubasa, eyeshield 21, kuroko no basket. But those anime hinge on the shounen and fantasy aspect and less about real life. U can enjoy inazuma 11 but u cant enjoy football after watching inazuma 11 But with haikyuu, it was so realistic. It thought us non volleyball fans the rules, the pain and how volleyball is in real life. Sure there are some shonen and fantasy aspects but that was never the main focus. Thats why haikyuu was just as groundbreaking and trendsetting as slam dunk was. Made anime fans not just love the anime, but also the sport

I agree with you. I don't play both basketball and volleyball, but the same with Slam Dunk when I was younger, I got the same feeling after watching Haikyuu. It will make you like the sport. This just really centralized on what a sport-genre really is.
