La lune blanche luit dans les bois. De chaque branche part une voix sous la ramée. O bien aimée. L’étang reflète, profond miroir, la silhouette du saule noir où le vent pleure. Rêvons, c’est l’heure. Un vaste et tendre apaisement semble descendre du firmament que l’astre irise. C’est l’heure exquise!

I love him! I saw him at Guanajuato's Festival Cervantino, México; and He is one of the kindest persons I've ever met. He was speaking spanish and taking pics with his fans (all of them)... He is simply PERFECT! And he did a perfect performance with "La Arpeggiatta"... They were absolutely awesome!

I was sorting through some old music this evening and came across D'UNE PRISON and looked that up on here for the first time. As a result I have discovered this extraordinary voice. It made my Saturday evening complete. I have always love Hahn's songs but to hear them sung with such a heavenly voice is beyond description.

Le vibrato est pourtant là, mais gérer avec parcimonie, placé exactement là où il faut et, en effet, sans excès.
Sensibilidade e técnica perfeita, a interpretação mais bela de "L'heure exquise".....

I fully agree with you here! Wonderful song! Hahn's masterpiece! This version is just "nice". The real experience that you are talking of is Nicholas Spanos's rendition! ITHAT is just sublime! Real relaxation "into a world of total beauty"! He is really a miracle! His version can easily be found in the video response to this video.
actually this song is from a french poetry by paul verlaine (escuse my english im french ^^)
if the song can be summarized in one word, it is : "LOOK!" (and the conclusion "let us dream") Keep your eyes open!!! You begin it perfectly. (congrats to the visual director) You are surrounded by darkness but the bright moon is shining on your face and you are looking up at it. The moon is your guide and you are your lover's guide. 1:32 vaste et tendre apaisement, really? your rushing & head movements indicate otherwise. 1:42 that facial strain WRONG!!! Don't go inside yourself, stay in the moment (or the forest clearing). You are TELLING your partner (who is us) during this moonlit stroll, to LOOK at this and this and that and that. You want her to revel in the beauties which the night offers to you both. "oh wow! it's the perfect magical moment. LET US DREAM." aaaand scene.

First of all, this song is in 9/8 which means one strong beat per measure and not on every quarter note (the pianist plays the triplets like quarters, if you listen carefully). Finally, this anemic and asexual voice is unbelievable in such a sensual context. French melodie is not devoid of sexuality but, to the contrary, it is full of real sensuality, something very rare in other culture.

Sitting at my desk, looking at the music... it's in 6/8. If you listen carefully, it's clear to me that the pianist is trying not to fall into the *1*23 *1*23 feel that many pieces in 6/8 fall into. Maybe it's because Hahn writes: "Infinement doux et calme" at the top of the page so the pianist evokes the still vastness of a lake by playing without accents so as not to disturb the surface of the water. The other thing that bugs me is that you complain about the sexuality of Jaroussky's voice. Completely disregarding that this song has nothing to do with sex, it's still one of the sexiest things I've ever heard.
It's such a pity that 'Like' is the only thing I can give you.........
Very sensitively, beautifully sung. But I miss that exquisite pianissimo shimmer on the top notes that the most compelling interpreters of this gorgeous melodie all seem to share...

Pretty, but under pitch at times. He's flat on the first two of the last three notes. However, his syncopation and artistic interpretation are quite lovely.
