HAGIA SOPHIA - A story of TIME, TRUTH and TRAGEDY | Travel to Türkiye

Hello, Travel Enthusiasts!!!
No story of Turkey can begin without starting with the story of HAya Sophia. Now before we talk about her Bend The Miles welcomes you to Istanbul. The sloping cobbled streets seared with tramlines never practically rest, transporting locals and tourists from one point to another. The heart of Istanbul lies in the Sultanahmet area or the old city. Here it is a potpourri of cultures with people from all over the world coming in to soak in the spirit of Istanbul. The city is vibrant, colourful and chaotic all in all. Shaped by the influences of the Middle Eastern, Asian and European, Istanbul is the gateway between the East and the West. A love affair with this city is not unknown. Anyone and everyone fall in love with the city.
Istanbul is a perfect blend of the old and new world. The amicable liveliness of the place is palpable and additive as well. With its welcoming spirit, Istanbul will make a place for all including you and me.
The bustling city square is where all the activities take place. From people gathering to children playing around, this place pulsates with never-ending energy.
And in the middle of all the chaos there she stands, a witness of time, truth and tragedy, Haya Sophia. Come let me tell you her story that will leave both speechless and wondering, “Why what happened happened?”
Haya Sophia translates to mean Holy Wisdom. officially a mosque called Haya Sophia Grand Mosque was originally a church! Yes, you heard me correct, a church that was passed down through many powerful hands to stand as a mosque today.
So today in association with Jasminne Tour let us explore Haya Sophia and yes do not forget to hit that subscribe button.
Being the must-visit place in Istanbul, Haya Sophia is always crowded. The current structure was built by the Byzantine emperor Justinian I as the Christian cathedral of Constantinople for the Byzantine Empire between 532 and 537. It was formally called the Church of God's Holy Wisdom After the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire in 1453 it was converted to a mosque by Mehmed the Conqueror and became the principal mosque of Istanbul.
Upon entering Haya Sophia your eyes will get fixated on the bright chrome ceiling decorated with detailed floral patterns. Connected with arches the dome of Haya Sophia is impressive. Imagine that these colours survived the onslaught of time and continue to look beautiful. The brightly lit chandelier adds an extra brilliance to the sunshine that pours in from the huge windows. The centre lower space is exclusively kept for prayers and is off limit for most. Long corridors forming a circular veranda allow you to take a 360 view from above and walk around admiring what she has to offer. Although Islamic scripts adorn the walls, evidence of Christianity in the form of wall paintings is still here.
It is impossible to imagine the cruelty that she has undergone in the name of religion yet she continues to glow. Haya Sophia seems to be glowing from within. Spreading her inner light to touch everyone’s heart. So go on feel her light! And when done step out into the city square once again enjoy your trip to Istanbul.
