Hadrian's Cycleway via Wrynose Pass & Hardknott Pass with the Bicycle Adventure Club
Bicycle Adventure Club Head off to Cycle Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 72, also known as Hadrian's Cycleway. However, the Lake District stands in the way of the start of the route in Ravenglass.
Will they make it over Wrynose Pass & Hardknott Pass before heading off towards Newcastle?
Mary's sole source of Roman knowledge is: Monty Python's Life of Brian. What more do you need to know?
Will they find Hadrian's Wall?

"Must be cobbles!" Just about creased me up, keep it up ladies😂
Really enjoyed this video, what a great adventure! Good job guys🚴👌
Watched it way back Just watched this again and its just as epic , the kind of video youtube was made for
This is the second youtube clip of yours I have seen. Yesterday just by chance i saw the London Birmingham Grand Union canal clip. Amazing folk you are Thoroughly enjoyed them both and will watch more as I watch so many cycling clips on youtube anyway. James lives just a few houses further down from where I am. I will quiz him next time I see him. Wonderful natural filming and great humour. I love it. Well done PS I did the Wrynose and Hardnott with my twin when we were 13 yrs old. Bloody hard then. Not done it since.
Years ago, watched one of your videos, subbed and then forgot about it. KZread is being a plonker and not notifying me of your new videos - which are prolific I see. Anyway, going through them now. Enjoy your journies - and good company. Thanks.
I've peddled route 72 myself, in reverse to you two. the best parts of the wall you missed on your train journey , but like you said, not much left 🙂. but to do wrynoes and hardnott pass first, i take my hat of to you both, my van struggled up those, well done..
Sod the wall, you ladies are wonderful!

Nothing but respect ladies 👍
Great you made it well done 💯😁
Bostin' video - you ladies are amazing! I told my friend about your ride up Wrynose and Hardknott (he lives close by there), and his response was, "Bloody hard climbs!"

Mary wishing the flies and wasps were covered in chocolate had me howling with laughter. I have only recently discovered your channel so I am binge watching the videos, and I'm not looking forward to when they run out. They are brilliant. I really hope I can get out on a ride with you one day (I'm in Worcs - not far away).

Brilliant video. You helped me on a Facebook page a few weeks ago when I asked about the tarka trail. Thanks. Today I've watched your London to Brum ride along the grand Union and this one. Such good connect. Mary us an inspiration to me who really struggles with hills and we share the same surname! I've done a few videos now and although I'm not in your league it's appreciate any feedback. Thank you again.

Ahh, thank you. We felt justified in getting the train up to Haltwhistle because we came over the Lake District. There are some lumps in between Carlisle & Newcastle but the wind will blow you up them. You'll love it, have a great trip and thank you for the lovely comment ;)
Great video, well done ladies. 👍
Great video lots of fun to watch. I feel Mary's pain about the wall. Attempted to C2C in 1 day and wanted to see the wall...the route was worth it the wall..meh! Looking forward to watching more.

Fun,
You did really well! I live between Hexham and Bardon Mill, and I use an e-bike to get about. I'm not fit enough to use a regular bike on our hills never mind the Lakeland passes, but if you're ever back in the area I'd love to give you a guided tour of the place and show you the better bits that you missed :) By the way, you wouldn't really want to cycle along the road that does run alongside the wall, because it's a long, straight, narrow death-trap with the way the traffic drives along there, the cycleway is far nicer. There is a path if you're on foot, but you'd need to be handy with lifting your bike over stiles to take advantage of most of it on a bicycle, and that would definitely get boring quickly! There's an awesome new youth hostel called The Sill that's just been built at the halfway point on the wall (I think it's YHA's 'flagship' hostel), if people don't want to drop down into Haltwhistle it's a great alternative to the campsite you used, and if you're on an e-bike it's a good place to charge up. P.S. your Geordie accent isn't too far off!

@@BicycleAdventureClub not as far as I know, but we're all bloody related up here if you go back a year or two so we probably are somewhere down the line 🤣
When are you going back to do the Carlisle to Haltwhistle bit :) (ps- that's mostly uphill) You went within half a mile of mile of my house on that last bit and I have walked the complete coast to coast Hadrian wall route from East to West and did bits of it straight from home without the car. To see the best bits of the wall you really need to ditch the bikes. The section from Chollerford to Gisland is absolutely superb. Very tough walking though as a lot of ups and downs but it follows the exact route of the wall and some bits are still in very good condition. Did that with my good lady a few years back and its a challenge as about 24 miles plus a lot of ups and downs, so feels like more than 30+ on the flat. Took us about 11 hours and was hard work but a great feeling when finished. We took two cars and left one at the far end then drove back to the start and picked the second car up on the way home. Was one of the hardest days walking I have ever done and I have completed the Wainwright's and done the Yorkshire three peaks, Ben Nevis and Snowdon. Have to say, your content is very entertaining and I have enjoyed watching.
