Tyrell wanted to use Mr. Robot to gain power, and Vera wanted to use Elliot to get dat "stadium money" via hacking. I'd say Darlene's the most loyal to Elliot. She was with him at the very beginning, all the way through the end when he wakes up in hospital. Darlene also shows remorse for "not being there for Elliot" and "not being able to deal with what he was going through", but she knew that Elliot was different when they started f society, but liked that they were spending time together. I'd go so far as to say that Darlene's the only one that's truly loyal to Elliot.

It's clever how almost no one notices that the guys in the van never directly interact with or talk to Mr Robot. Only Elliot hears his voice, which he thinks he's hearing through his earpiece.

@Olivier Lazure I strongly disagree that this scorn is justifiable. First, do you know a given poor person's situation? Second, reducing people to economic value is irretrievably nihilistic. Third, contempt reflects a vulgar need to debase others to feel superior. Fourth, the assumption is that the American political-economic system is faultless, and each person can rise to their potential, which is proven false over and over. Fifth, mdernity theoretically values hard, beneficial work, which this person does. Finally, a slave to capitalist functioning is a slave all the same, rich or poor. And all the poorer if their view of others is the narrow and anti-humanistic one the market provides.

That's what I've been training up to do as well, its real useful when doing ethical red-team attacks. Squinting or moving your eyebrows when smiling is subconscious, so when you smile genuinely you will likely do it. When people “fake smile”, their conscious mind only moves their mouth. You see the fake smile when people are nervous in front of others, uninterested in someone, or just trying to mask deeper emotion. But you also see it in manipulative people, who purposely try to put out a fake persona.

Savage Panda Best tv show you will ever see. Everything is amazing about this show. The cinematography, the cast, the music and of course: the story. It’s amazing.

I love how the first time we saw this we were thinking about Tyrell being a psycho that's about to trap Elliot. The same pov of mmElliot. But nos after the whole show, Tyrell is being nice with Elliot because he wants to be friend or allies as you want to call this, with him. Just genuinely connect. We trully live in each others paranoia

Tyrell genuinely wants to connect but is unable to do so without coming off like a psychopath, because he has been insecure since childhood and tries to compensate for it by keeping Joanna, who only cares about power, status and money. He has lived life along those priorities for so long they end up being a part of his identity, hence making him utterly incompatible with normal middle class people, let alone with Elliot whose priorities are the exact opposite. Their dynamic is really interesting.

I liked this Tyrell from early stages of the series. At first I thought they were gonna explore more about this antagonism/ yingyang relationship between elliot and him. but he turn out to be a psycho obsessed with elliot

The problem with Tyrell is that he has a lot of potential to do the things by his own. But he always need that someone manipulate him, first his wife and then Mr Robot. The guy was not a bad person, but for finding his purpose, need to always to carry on with other people ideas

I felt they kinda wasted his character towards his end. They just sort of fade him out of the story instead of of the polarity built up between them and mind games they played.

I was folded over laughing during this entire sequence because I gave documents to Iron Mountain drivers every week to shred.

Its been a few yrs. I'd love to watch this series over again. Rami's best role I think... certainly season 1 he found his footing quickly enough. Season 4, he was brilliant.

Tyrell was my fav character tbh

Theres a theory going around reddit and KZread that Tyrell and Elliot are the same person. Some of these scenes....man....like the scene where they are both obviously sitting for lunch both of there glasses in view. Tyrell says "we are the same, perfectionist" as the waiter serves them both water and Tyrell looks up and smiles, Elliot looks down and away. Almost like two sides of a coin.

Price does, the waiter does, Irving does...etc. IOW, they are not the same person based on the rules created to show Elliot and his alters.

Yes, he’s just as awkward as Elliot, but on the other end of the spectrum.. he mask his awkwardness with bravado, arrogance, faux hubris, and his ridiculous Patrick Bateman impression.. it’s a mask, to be seen as somebody of a certain stature, and class.

Tyrell is trying to impress Elliot in this scene. He views Elliot as a true equal and is really trying to show he can be just as cunning and just as manipulative. What Tyrell is hoping for here is to have Elliot convinced he so pedestrian compared to himself. It's why he specifically talked about the waiter, and brought him up again in the bathroom. If it had worked, Tyrell could have leverage over Elliot since he would now be holding the keys to a more "worthwhile" motivation. "You are extraordinarily capable Elliot, but only with my scheme in mind would you be doing something worthwhile." Elliot, who does not care about what Tyrell might find important, is ultimately interpreting this scene as a threat. If you watched the entire show, then you know Tyrell is really the sidekick but doesn't even know it yet. Elliot doesn't remember talking to Tyrell (as Mr. Robot) and having the upper hand in the conversation before, where he brushed him off as someone with narrow/tunnel vision. Tyrell is trying to reverse that interaction here with his hubris. "Enjoy your long ride home. I'm going to take a helicopter back to New York." He leaves the bathroom thinking he had won this interaction between rivals, but Elliot doesn't even remember that they were having a character/ego contest.

@@_I_Blue you’re clearly new here so I’ll educate you When you see a comment that says “plot twist: …”, it’s usually (not always but more often than not) ironic or humorous in nature and not an actual plot theory. The irony/humor in this case being that Tyrell was talking smack about him being broke and unsuccessful but is actually more successful than he’d ever be. “Cope” implies that I feel remorse for the character…which I have no reason to. The whole purpose of him being in the show is to show how Tyrell thinks of himself and others and how he perceives someone’s value based on how financially successful they are.

It's really fun to rewatch the season one scenes knowing what happens at the end of season one

Ah yes, "Steel" Mountain. Legit love the parodies in this show.

Fun fact I work for Iron Mountain, here in Manhattan. It's a giant info management , recovery, and deletion.

Just to quote some actual facts: No matter what lower level Eliot was if he wanted to go with Tyrell to a higher level if it's a serious company -which I think it is given ECorp trusts their data with them- then, it will be necessary to clear his entry to that level. Therefore, it wouldn't have been possible to enter level 2 and any attempt to break in would have caused uncovering.

I didn’t understand much of the tech lingo, but this show was still absolutely outstanding!

It's because we see everything thru Elliot's eyes (best example: When he lived at his "mom's place"). So Tyrell's character developement is mainly Elliot's character developement.

Basically no. Tyrell is a capable hacker, but the scenes you mention about Elliot being afraid of him are purely based around Elliot's false assumptions and paranoia. During season 1, Elliot thinks Tyrell is some sort of mastermind who is onto him and fsociety, but we as viewers learn that Tyrell is mostly clueless about Elliot's true plan and later implicates himself in it by pure accident.

Really cool scene when he installed the raspberry pi 1 A+ (model released 2014). The scene would have been even better if the Power LED would have turned on and a Power cable would be connected. Judging by the 2 cables at the GPIO I guess they were used for the power. The big blue cable looks like it has been presoldered on the audio jack ?

The problem with Mr. Robot is that he is just that, a robot! He has a hard time feeling human emotion making him terrible at social engineering.

IRL he would have brought a handful of scotch locks. That ethernet splice would have shorted out and the whole operation would be a bust

There will never be a complete defense against hacking. Always a back door, when the user has to give input to the CPU to execute an instruction. Therefore, hacking lives on, as a promise to get even worse or harder to fight. Praise the white hats for making a difference.

It's great that the actual Fortune 500 company is called Iron Mountain. Over 90% of large American companies contract with Iron Mountain to store their physical files or digital data. A pretty thinly veiled reference.

A server serving salad can save enough to BUY the operation. Not shabby
