To people who are new to NetworkChuck The initial definition of a hack prior to modern day definitions is "an enthusiast and/or activity involving the construction and/or deconstruction of devices with the intent to either learn or create new things", by learning cd means you learned a "hack", a command that gets you to the home directory This is a literal fundamental for beginners who don't know anything, you people who do know the basics - don't be a dick and let beginners learn Let people who is enthusiastic to hype up the content so that beginners will find it interesting Don't be like that university "lecturer" who literally gives a shit lecture, not teach

I understand that, but why do we need a whole video for the cd command. cd is probably the first terminal command that people learn. The only tip that was kind of useful in this video is pwd. This video is cool but it seems kind of useless. Maybe it's because I've been using linux for the past 5 years or so, and have been using it as my main os for a year. I don't even think I've touched Windows since I graduated high school. 6 or 7 months ago.
@squadron29

@@soldierofchrist7343 no one really cares when you graduated high school, but this isn't a whole video. it's a short. that's the whole point. short form content for things that don't need a whole video but are still essential for beginners

@@squadron29 A. It's the internet I could talk about whatever I wan't, and it was supposed to give an idea of how long I have been using Linux. I could talk about anything anytime I wan't. I don't need premission from the internet to make a post. If you don't like it don't read it. B. It doesn't matter if this is only part of a longer video because this is short, and most people don't check the descriptions on shorts and would probably not have realized that there was more to it than just this. Also the content in this video is pretty much useless considering the command shown in this short is a command that anyone who has spent 5 seconds researching Linux would already know.

The problem is his content is way low under the base level. Someone can spend too much time watching these 0.1 level videos, when they can read it in a book. I could have understood if he showed us something like reverse shell bash scripting, but "cd" is the base command that you learn, even on windows.
Me, thinking I'm a linux expert: wow I never knew about `cd`

The CD command is not a hack. But the sudo rm - rf - - no-preserve-root / is a magic trick to make your Linux install dissappear
You like that, try to cd into whitespace between file headers
Navigating a file directory is a "hack" Oh i love your sense of humor 😂

Brooooo thats insane i didnt know that unix systems allow you to change directory 0_0 life-changing really
I think cd and most of it's options are the first thing anyone learns when they try any unix based OS 💀
If you are, put the hacker mask right now!💪

i highly recommend it because WSL is technically a virtual machine so you are not using any of the actual hardware drivers in the kernel such as graphics or network drivers. Once you install GNU/Linux bare metal, if you have AMD or Intel GPU you can mess around and try random patches and recompile the entire graphics stack to see what happens. That is not possible with any other operating system. before anyone says openbsd or freebsd, I am sure those are great but if you check those OS you will see that allll of their graphics drivers for modern graphics cards are copy pasted almost line for line from the same code as the Linux kernel drivers, except they tend to disable and drop support for features they don't have the manpower to maintain, that Linux keeps. but if you want you should also try out various types of BSD and Linux so you can learn what I mean by that
@tacokoneko
Жыл бұрын
and ok technically Android and Alpine Linux are different OS from "GNU/Linux" but, when you are using them in a way that you can recompile the entire graphics driver, you will find that almost always they are sharing the same graphics stack code to achieve that, the upstream of which is maintained collectively by a group called Freedesktop

We already know that, in fact there's another way to navigate to a directory by typing in the directory without cd. "~/" is another way to go to a user's home directory. "." is the current directory (it's mostly useful for copying or moving files or folders), and ".." is used to move to the parent directory of the current directory.

@@ardaninho It typically works out of the box (pretty much without editing the configuration file), as I used to use bash a lot. @redmarble5624

He didn't say cd is hacking, he said that just using cd without specifying a directory bringing you to the home directory is a hack. A hack as in a shortcut. Because many beginners may still think that you have to specify the home directory to go into it. At the end of the day this video is for absolute beginners.
Come on man. I am pretty sure that anyone who even knows how to spell Linux knows how cd works. If you are marketing something to " even if you are an expert in Linus you wouldn't know this" and you start with cd, that's shows you don't know your audience.
So his life hack was telling us about cd?? Wow mind blowing 😮
Starter coders: Types in /give @s barrier in minecraft for first time Omg! It works! The pro users: yeah so who cares. (This is accurate)
I don't have a problem with anyone sharing information like this, no matter how basic that information is. Yes, it's ridiculously easy to learn how to use cd, but that's only because of the countless people who share that information. I can respect the education, no matter what level it's at. Still, what "expert" doesn't know how to Change Directory?
What's wrong with you
I love Chuck, but these shorts are just mind numbing. Like, someone who is using Linux, 99.9% knows every basic CLI command unless they're so computer illiterate they can't turn on their computer.
Does he always talk like that?
Could you please make a tutorial for kali linux?
