Dude this worked perfectly for me, superb guide! I had doughts about this killing my computer or Snes but worked out fine, I can now play Chrono trigger and Killer Instinct on my Tv. Thanks a bunch!

Great tutorial and I have no idea how to use my laptop for techy stuff like this but I managed to put another 29 games I wanted onto my mini with the boxart and everything. Took me about half an hour! Going to be cherry picking some more titles soon as well. Cheers fella.

Personally, while more expensive, I suggest using an original, real SNES in combination with a device called FXPAK Pro. It allows for many more features the SNES Mini doesn't support, even when you mod it.

To add boxart to all games. Select all games then right click and there should be an option to download all boxart instead of individually.

True and it's fast but you will probably get a lot of crappy box art so if you don't like this do it one game at a time.

Exactly, you might end up with very bad box art. Unless you are porting 100+ games onto the console I'd just so it one game at a time.

Nah its far easier to do the bulk then replace the ones it could not grab first time. still much quicker IMO.

It won't let me put more than one game in the box. And when I try to add another game it simply REPLACES it with the new one I'm just trying to add. When I did check to see if at least that ONE game worked, it didn't. The thumb nail was there but THAT'S it. HELP kind people!

Shame Dragon Ball Z Hyper Dimension isn't supported, well some of the DBZ snes games are compatible.

Cheers worked flawlessly so far. Put about 70 games on there, i did uncheck the folder thing, but it still gave me folders at the end of the pre-installed games.

Yeah I've heard people say they had issues with folders appearing on the latest version of Hakchi. Maybe try reselecting no folders. I will say that anything over 60 games with no folders might cause c8 errors.

I see that you are using the debug version of Hakchi. Is this the same as the standard version if all i am doing is copying games to the SNES mini??

ADH Gaming is secret of Mana 2 available?

Here are some of the things I have found out so far after intensive play with hakchi all weekend: - If you get the C8 error when turning off your console just use folders - that will sort it out. Try the different combinations until you find one you like - I recommend 'Original games in root - > Folders, split games equally'. - Remember to get hakchi version D - this version will tell you if a ROM is not compatible with hakchi and ask you if you want to run it with Retroarch - click yes and hakchi will do the necessary steps for you. This is now way easier than in earlier versions where you manually had to change the command line for every game that had problems running smoothly. - If you have installed Retroarch and a Mega Drive game doesn't work remember to convert it from .bin to .smd before adding it to hakchi. - When running a game with Retroarch press SELECT+START to get to the special Retroarch menu. If you choose to restart the game this will happen when you press SELECT+START again and exit the menu. - When installing Retroarch remember to install Cloverapp too so you can see and enter Retroarch on your system. This is done the same way as with Retroarch - just drag and drop to hakchi. Emulators and mods can after the installation of Retroarch be added and deleted from the modules menu in hakchi. Deleting Retroarch from the list of games will NOT clear any space used by it on your system (Retroarch takes up about 40mb which is pretty much when the total is about 240mb) - you have to use the module menu in hakchi to successfully delete these added things. I am sorry if I repeat something from the two videos about hakchi and Retroarch but this is just meant as a practical summation to solve some common but very annoying problems I wasted a lot of time on myself. Enjoy! 🎮😃

"and a Mega Drive game doesn't work remember to convert it from .bin to .smd before adding it to hakchi" - i'm not sure this is necessary, my Genesis games are .bin, but retroarch's Genesis Plus GX core seems to run them fine (or maybe converting them to .smd will allow retroarch to run them without having to use the Genesis core? Do you see a little pixelated picture of a Genesis/Mega Drive for a sec before the game starts?).

Fantastic. Figured it out. The reset on the controller is worth doing this alone!

Once i finish installing the custom kernel and click the sync to add new roms it doesnt work. I noticed on tbe bottom right it tells me how much space the rons i wanna add bht it doesnt say how much i have on my snes and fix for this

Just use the USB cable included in the box for this. HDMI is only needed to hook up to a screen =)

Same issue here. I've also tried a factory flash and a reflash to custom. I did use .smc files as well to add games. The debug is also showing space being used. I'm not sure what's going on but I only see the factory games and none of the games I added.

Same, I've been at this for hours with no results. The files are on the SNES in the memory but they don't but it only loads the original 21.

Stouckol Google smoke monster on emuparadise.com log in to the forum to get access to the Google drive link. They are perfect room sets you won't find a better more complete set.

This whole effort of doing the classic NES and SNES is just to get their name out there again and try to push everyone over to their main systems. The whole effort was an intended tease. They'd prefer you buy their main systems and get old games there.

I was playing chrono trigger then when i went into a new screen i ended up with a black screen with noting on it :( snes reset took me back to the menu tho. Any idea what causes this?

i get at the moment 10 games installed, and it says 91 mb's used from the 258, 2 so i guess i can get a lot installed :) most roms are about 1 game, so the minimum of own games are 150 games :)

Brilliant video thank you, it works perfectly and your instructions were straightforward and easy to follow. The only thing I would ask is that don't you need to dump the original kernel first before doing anything. In case you accidentally brick your system. I didn't but I have found a dump on reddit In case anything goes wrong.

I can flash the kernel but when it comes to uploading the games the driver won't install. It says SNES mini found installing driver then it does nothing. So frustrating.any ideas?

dont go by with what the list says because some of he games , i downloaded work well that was on that list . you just have to find the ones that are working to get all games working. Ronnie u just have to look for the good sites

I'd say emuparadise, but Nintendo cracked down on piracy so it's very difficult to find roms anymore without going to a shady website...

Where do you plug the snes mini in. In order to mod it?

what USB cable that came with it? I cannot figure out how to plug it intot he computer. Mine comes with HDMI that goes to the TV. The Power plug has a USB but that s for the power of the system which needs to be on correct?there is not USB on the system? any help would be great.

cant see any roms to add like you have sown, even downloaded other versions but there are no games or roms folders to select

so a little late maybe but got one yesterday, and have 2 questions , 1 wich one should i choose in the beginning if i have the european model, i mean it have the same design as the japanease one is it the famicon i should choose then? 2 if i do put more games in and want to go back to original you can choose the flash factory kernel but is the factory kernel in the program or does it make a copy of my snes mini? why i ask is if i have to backup the original kernel if the computer i mod with needs a formating or something

Unless you copied the hakchi file from your friends PC you will need to most likely restart the process on your own pc.

Hi tried dumping the kernel and followed the instructions to install driver when it goes to install driver I get the screen saying found unknown usb device installing driver then it says press enter to exit after that it still has the install driver screen and won't dump the kernel any ideas?

I modded one system using the video, but when I tried to mod a 2nd it did not recognize the unit (it didn't prompt me to do first steps I did with first unit). Is there a way to signal to the program that you are hooking up a different system to restart the process? I just didn't want to lose the game art settings and list I put together for the first unit.

Love your video intros. Thanks so much for this tutorial. I added retroarch to my SNES Classic also but I've noticed some games like Donkey Kong Country run slow. Is there a way to improve the performance (I want to play the games thru Retroarch emulation for full screen feature). Thanks!

No worries! Are you sure DKC isn't just slowing down like it does in the SNES Game? It's possible there is a bit of slow down (i noticed it with the default games). Retroarch is probably your best bet though if it still slows down with the default snes mini emulator.

I did this on my snes classic about a year ago and it worked fine. Will I be able to do this procedure on my snes but on a different computer or might that damage it?

Hey there. No problem! 1 - No it won't =) 2 - yes it sure is possible. I have another video that shows you how to patch roms, but if already have a patched ROM then try it.

I'm getting "data error" when trying to build file structure when i'm trying to sync games. cannot sync games to mini now.

Noob question : When you flash the custom kernel, does it replace the in-built emulator with snes9x and retroarch or is it working with the Nintendo created original emulator?

Select all in the list (left click first item and shift select last item), right click and click 'download box for selected games' to automatically download art for the games you want.

It worked! Thanks! Was easy! Now playing Batman Returns and hey, next month is Christmas!

I own the Super Famicom Mini and want it to be in English. Should I choose that option or should I choose SNES Classic? What would I do?

My Kernel install was interrupted so I now get an error message saying the file is being used by another process. How can I fix this?

i can get as far as install the driver and its says mini nes not found. and also when flashing custom kernel it stops with an application error. can anyone help

Ok, so I had to use my brother's Windows laptop instead of my Macbook, which is fine, but then once I downloaded all the ROMS, added the games into Hakchi and hit "Sychronize". It took me through to the next step of starting a "custom kernal," which I hit "yes" and then followed the prompts of holding reset, powering on, letting go of reset after a few seconds. Nothing happened (I downloaded the Hakchi installer from the website link above and ran it prior to doing this). I then tried it again and again and even used the "Install Driver" button, but for some reason, it was a NES installer and not an SNES installer. Why is it resorting to a NES installer and not SNES? I read in the "help" section that my device may not be recognized due to some hardware issue of the HDMI cord or input/output. Not sure what to do... help?

Thanks - yes you can use a USB stick with a power adapter. You gonna have to find another video that - never got round to making a tutorial myself!

You must have choose famicom instead of snes mini.

How do I make it so all games are in one list and not in subfolders? I only added like 10 games.

Do you know if RPM racing displays in the correct Hi-Res+Interlaced mode on the SNES Mini?

Uhhh, the hakchi.exe file wont run, I installed it, then ran it thinking it would work, but instead a command prompt windows opens, then closes, this really disappoints me as I wanted to get more games on my SNES classic, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Could it be viable..and easier to have games on a USB stick and somehow transfer to the snes mini? Just trying to get the files was a pain in the arse . I have had to give up ...sad times...

I bought a SNES mini on EBay (ya ya l know) its not hacked but only runs 2 minuets before overheating resetting, looked about l read that hacked firmware can turn off cooling and make the cpu run full speed even if you go back to original F/W any help please, their taking it back but if l can fix it that would be better ??

I got one as a gift, hacked with 821 games. When I turn it on, all the games were from the NES! Hopefully I can swith it to SNES and put the games I like 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do we install the driver before following steps 1-4? Or do we start with 1-4 and then do 5 (install driver)?

Im trying to flash original kernal but it says there isnt one. I mustve not dumped the original. How can i do that now?

Hi there. When I try to install the drivers, it came up a message saying it's can detect my super nes. Did anyone have the same issues?

which version of hatchi do i get? seems to be a few different file options ilke web installer and debug? thanks

The web installer is fine, although my videos go with the zip version. Don't worry about debug.
