Haciendas in Morelos | Haciendas in Mexico | Part 1
In Mexico, regardless of the place we decide to visit, we will find destinations with great stories. We are the product of a conquest, children of a mixture of races and heirs of varied beliefs.
For better or for worse, our history was marked by the arrival of the Spanish. From these conquerors we inherited various constructions that were impregnated with the sweat and blood of the natives, among them the haciendas.

In the state of Morelos there is a beautiful route that houses an important number of farms designed for the production of sugar.
The history of these dates back to the arrival of Hernán Cortés, responsible for introducing sugar cane in Mexico.
After the conquest, King Carlos I of Spain granted Cortés the title of Marquis of the Valley of Oaxaca, which gave him a large area of land and, therefore, power over other peoples.
In Morelos, he founded the first mills that were farms in which sugar cane was processed to produce mainly sugar and alcohol.
The warm climate of the region allowed the sugar industry to flourish and while the Spanish Crown earned great income, the indigenous people were exploited to work in them.
The work was so heavy in some of them that Cortés used slaves from the Antilles, as was the case of the Hacienda de San Antonio Atlacomulco.
These haciendas witnessed important events and even triggered the uprising of the peasants led by Emiliano Zapata during the Mexican Revolution, as the revolutionary argued that the lands should be returned to the peasants from whom they had been taken away.
Many of these haciendas became barracks during the revolution, they were deteriorated and some abandoned. Others have been recovered and today they function as luxury hotels.

Las haciendas de Morelos tienen su historia cada una en lo particular deberían conocerse como se fundaron y quiénes las habitaron recuperar este patrimonio histórico para el conocimiento cultural de pueblo .

Mas adelante trataremos de realizar a detalle cada uno de estos lugares para no solo incentivar una visita por "lo bonito" del lugar, sino trataremos de compartir la historia y un contexto mas amplio del porque visitar estos y mas destinos. Saludos Juan Manuel.

Hola Ximena, si claro que tienen servicio de Hospedaje. El mas lujoso es la Hacienda San Gabriel de las Palmas y Acamilpa. La mas conveniente y espectacular por su historia es la Cortés en Cuernavaca. La de San Antonio el Puente es muy bonita y está al sur de Cuernavaca a unos 30 minutos. En Tequesquitengo está la Hacienda de Sa José Vista Hermosa. Espectacular y antigua. Ufff no se, hay muchas mas, pero esas me vinieron a la cabeza como lugares de Hospedaje y bastante bonitas. ¿Cual es tu plan? Presupuesto y / o ubicacion para darte una recomendacion mas a la medida.
Algunas haciendas son hoteles y vale la pena visitarlos pero alguien podria decirme si hay haciendas que funcionen como museos?

Me parece que ninguna... lo máximo es que la hayas vuelto hoteles en vez de dejarlas en el olvido.. ninguna museo.
No agregaron la Hacienda Vista Hermosa, es la más bonita de todas
